I have been a client of Stella blues for years. There is no one I would trust to repair my families jewelry. Angie is amazing and talented. She's designed one of my friends engagement rings and it was beautiful. I've even brought my 83 year old fathers gold jewelry in for repair and he was very happy with her work and that says a lot! You will not be disappointed and she will work with you to make sure you are completely happy! Thanks Angie! read more

Stella Blue Design - Dad got his gold fixed! - Jewelry Near Me - Chicago, Illinois

This review is long overdue, so let me start at the beginning... A couple years ago, my boyfriend (now fiancé) purchased a vintage locket for my birthday from Stella Blue Design. Despite not offering it as a service, Angie helped me laser cut and set a picture of him into the heart-shaped locket, only charging me a small fee. I really appreciated her generosity and knew I would return to her shop. About a year ago, I decided it was time to purchase a new gold chain for a pair of cloisonné pendants that belonged to my grandmother. Angie makes her own chains, and she was so patient while I looked at the various patterns and tried on different lengths. I originally planned on buying a single chain to share, but after reviewing my options I decided to purchase two of different pattern and length. The cloisonnés vary in color, shape, and size, and the chains we chose reflected their differences. Angie even added my grandmother's birth stone (peridot) to the clasp of each one! To use her words, these necklaces are now truly "heirloom quality" that I hope to pass down to my future children. Finally, this past fall. My fiancé worked with Angie to create a custom engagement ring. It has the Art Deco style that I love, and it's absolutely perfect. The ring is everything I wanted, and I have received so many compliments. The fact that Angie designed it makes it all the more special to me. Angie is kind, patient, and honest - every quality you would want in a jeweler. Her cozy little shop is welcoming, and everything is artfully arranged. You can feel Angie's passion in her craftsmanship, dedication to quality, and ability to make any project - from a gold chain to an engagement ring - incredibly unique and personal. We will be lifelong clients and will of course be asking Angie to design my wedding band. I will update this review with more pictures as we continue to work with Stella Blue Design. Thank you Angie and the team for all of your help! - Maureen & Tim read more

Angie is a magician! My boyfriend had gotten me earrings from her studio for Christmas and although they didn't fit with my piercings, Angie was able to put their credit towards a re-design. My grandmother passed down a diamond necklace with an old setting that detracted from the diamond itself. I sent Angie a few inspiration pictures to simplify the design and within a few weeks she transformed it into something I'll be wearing everyday. I'm amazed. Cannot say enough good things about her or this experience as it was a first! Trusting someone with such a valuable item is daunting. Without a doubt I'd trust Angie time and time again! The studio is also super cute, clean, and fun. read more

I found Angie through a Grateful Dead connection and was immediately amazed by her collection of beautiful pieces. Everything was amazing and I spent $750 with her in a short time and will get a lifetime of memories from the purchases. One of my favorites was the piece with the dark star but right up there was the sunshine daydream which seemed to sparkle like fireworks were going off All her employees are great - big shout out to Dani for helping me in line- you went the extra mile!!! Angie is an absolute doll!! I came into her store around 4p today with a request; I purchased a gold bar necklace a few weeks ago, and the chain was much shorter than I expected (purchased from Macy's). Not knowing anything it would take to make this happen, Angie was able to turn it around before she closed at 6p! I communicated, "if it's not too much trouble, is it possible to have it today ... I have a dinner tonight and I was hoping to wear it." She said she'd definitely try, and she'd call in a bit. I was double parked stopping back, in to pickup, so I didn't tell her the complete story. In short, I've been searching for a bar necklace for several months (high and low, and in every city and new area I was visiting) and recently, found one I liked (go figure it was a chain store). Tonight, I'm meeting with 50+ of my crossfit friends I haven't seen since my back injury that took me out of workouts in the beginning of May. Five weeks ago I had steroid injections, and I've been in PT 4x a week since; physically, I feel SO much better than I have, I have a new dress, AND I have the necklace I've been dying to wear!! (An old love interest is attending dinner as well, and it certainly doesn't hurt to walk in with a little extra confidence knowing you're put together, and looking good!!) Thank you, SO MUCH, Angie for making my outfit complete this evening!! I could not be more grateful for your kindness!! You rock!! THANK YOU!! read more

I first found out about Stella Blue Design by doing a search for jewelry boutiques in the city. I was looking to get sized for a ring and after taking some time to browse the website, I knew this was a place I wanted to check out. I was greeted by Angie, the designer and founder. She was extremely personable and knowledgeable and I loved the variety of beautiful jewelry on display. I recently returned to visit Angie after receiving a bracelet for Christmas that was too big for me. I was disappointed that the bracelet didn't fit me. I have a very small wrist and this bracelet was too big and was meant to just be slipped on which meant it continuously slid around on me and looked/felt silly. Angie and I e-mailed back and forth about what my options were. I took my bracelet into the shop and she explained that she could redesign the bracelet with a clasp so I could adjust it to fit me. I picked up my redesigned piece last night and am IN LOVE with it! Not only does it now fit me comfortably, but it has a whole new soft and feminine look and I couldn't be happier (see the before/after picture). I already have my eye on some new jewelry I'd like to purchase (a certain necklace is calling my name!). I genuinely looking forward to working with Angie again in the future. read more

Every time I go in this shop , (which is often!)I am ready to spend my life savings on the jewelry! I just love the ring Angie made for me and love that she is able to help me with anything, any time I come in... whether it be for free life time cleanings or anything else. She pays such attention to detail and is super knowledgable about her products and jewelry in general. I feel confident working with her which is so important to me. I highly highly recommend this shop if you want something custom made or if you want something just beautiful and classic. You can tell from the moment you walk in to the shop that there is a lot of thought and style put in to every detail! I couldn't love my engagement ring more! My fiance and Angie put it together and it is just stunning. I get compliments left and right... I have had it for a couple months now and I am still just as in love with it today as the day it was given to me! read more

tl;dr: communicative, transparent, great craftsmanship, durable materials, beautiful design, kind and enthusiastic owner/artist, knowledgeable, passionate, and flexible. 10/10 Where to even start, my fiancé got my engagement ring designed by Angie and it was absolutely stunning. I'm not an expert in jewelry but the durability of my ring is top notch; I'm pretty clumsy and knock stuff over or run into things on the regular so I wanted/needed a ring that wouldn't get beat up easily. Angie described all the materials and design decisions that went into my ring as she catered it to what I needed. The craftsmanship is beautiful and very intricate, I'm biased here, but I can't stop looking at all the little intricacies. Angie herself is a wonderfully warm, personable, kind, and authentic person. She's transparent with her customers and provides a personalized touch to each piece. You can really tell that she is passionate about her job and loves each piece she makes. I ended up getting a few other rings serviced by her, some of which were family heirlooms. She was very flexible with my schedule and very communicative. The rings looked fantastic! She took great care in my family heirloom ring and it felt so good to hear what she liked about the piece though she didn't make it. I highly recommend Stella Blue Design. Thanks for everything Angie! read more

Angie is great! I bought all of my wedding jewelry from her a couple of years ago, and some lovely earrings that I will be wearing to my brother's wedding this weekend. Absolutely fantastic service and product! My girlfriend went here a couple months ago and showed me their slice of heaven earrings, so naturally i started formulating my plan for her birthday present. I was planning on going to their 20% off sale on dec 13 to get some of the slice of heaven earrings. 2 days before the sale i checked out the earrings online to figure out my plan only to find out the earrings are made to order -- shit! I thought i wouldnt get them in time (gf's birthday is dec 17) I called to find out if they had any pairs of the earrings in store and if they would honor the 20% storewide sale on dec 13 for the special earrings. Angela was so sweet and helpful, she had a large order for another client but was able to offer two different styles of the earrings for me to pick from and included the sale price! I went to the store on dec 13 to pick up the earrings and Angela was just as great and courteous in person. The rest of the staff were great too and offered me some nice whiskey as part of the sale promotion. She loved the earrings! I would highly recommend this store if you need a gift for the jewelry lover in your life. They have jewelry for every price range, from ~$50 to $1K+. Great staff and product! read more

The diamond of my wedding ring was lost. So I want it repaired. I came to this place since it was near my office work. I'm hoping that they have a nice service. One staff member greeted me and asked what he could do. I told him that my ring's diamond was lost so I need one. He said that it's easy to fix and it will not last an hour. So I wait for him while he repairs my wedding ring. While repairing I look at their show glass where I can see a lot of jewelry. I can see some rings, necklaces, watches and earrings. Some of them have high prices and some do not. After half an hour my ring was done. I'm amazed at how it looks. It looks new and pretty. I'm glad that he is professional in his job and has nice skills. read more

Wow. What else can I say about Angie and Stella Blue that hasn't been said already? In the "effusive praise" column, probably not much, but I'll try: Came in looking for an engagement ring for my beautiful now-fiancée (!) and Angie helped me tremendously. As a heavy researcher of all purchases, I was stressing a bit because I had NO IDEA what kind of ring I wanted to surprise her with. All I knew was she had posted a few pictures on her Pinterest (that my sister deviously and thankfully hacked) showing vintage-style rings. But, I didn't want to buy an old ring that was vintage - i wanted it to be unique and in a vintage style. Finally, I had a friend who's dad used to be a jeweler and I got a stone at wholesale, so I just needed a custom band. Went in under the guise of "going on a bike ride" (so Angie had to put up with Lycra-Man for each visit), and she was amazing. Her shop is really cool, and the minute I went in, my fears melted away because I knew this was very much my fiancee's style. Nature-inspired, lots of delicate, understated pieces mixed in with bold but classy use of color - especially blues, greens and teals (her favorites). It was perfect! Angie worked with me on a custom design, then we agreed to add some filigree (new word for me!) to the sides to give it a vintage look. I was thrilled and knew this would be the one I wanted. Only problem is - I was on a tight deadline and hardly gave poor Angie any time to do it. She did an amazing job working with me and even had it done a week earlier than I needed. I cannot express to you how relieved I was, as I had planned the proposal perfectly and the ring was the last piece to fall into place. In short, Angie is a great person, a fantastically trustworthy businesswoman, and a peerless designer. In my (limited) experience, I don't see how she could be topped for any unique design if you like her style (and we both do). I honestly can't remember many experiences working with small businesses than have left me so satisfied and enthusiastic about their brand. Well done Angie, and thank you for helping make the most special night of my life so far even more perfect! read more

It pains me to write such a poor review, but this shop really was a disappointing part of our trip. The shop is nestled in a tiny nook on a very vibrant strip of shops and eateries. I'm quite turned off being buzzed into an establishment, but I understand the severities of a jewelry store on a busy street. Though the pieces of jewelry were lovely, the prices were atrocious. Sterling silver necklace for over $500? A few pieces that were were in the price range I was willing to spend were plated, and even for plated they were overpriced. Quite the let down - there are many other options on that lovely street though. read more

Simply amazing. Angie creates beautiful pieces, and also happens to be one of the kindest, most wonderful shop owners I've met. I have a few pieces from her collection; my most worn piece is the "daughters of Nino" necklace (see review from Taylor B. below. I was on the receiving end of the "Oh boy, I'm SO SORRY gift"). It's unique and beautiful, and I wear it every day. For our wedding, I brought a bracelet design to her that she replicated perfectly. She made my fiance's wedding band, and it is exactly what I wanted. There is nothing she can't do when it comes to jewelry; she's simply amazing. I highly recommend her. You will walk into her store and want to purchase everything in sight. Her pieces are so reasonably priced, and of great quality. read more

Simply stunning. I purchased my bridal jewlery for myself and wedding party. In addition, I bought some beautiful jewelry for my mother and god mother and they were HUGE hits. And have some great memories from my wedding. read more

I've been meaning to write a review and am just getting around to it. As a long-time client, I am singing the praises of Angie (the owner)/Stella Blue Design. She is one of the most creative, meticulous, and professional individuals I've known. She has a true passion for her art, and it shows through with the care she puts into her designs. Have jewelry from an ex or relative you don't love? She can help you envision something completely new and unique. I know first hand since she converted my I.d. bracelet into a necklace. When it came time for my boyfriend and me to (finally) get engaged, I couldn't decide if I wanted a custom engagement ring or one out of the vintage case. We set up a special consultation with Angie. While I'm certain she could have made more off of us from a custom piece, she helped me decide on the vintage ring I had had my eye on for a long time, pointing out my adoration of the piece. Angie is well-versed, an expert one might say, in vintage jewelry. She sized it perfectly and shined it up, so it sparkles in the sunlight like no other diamond. I can't stop looking at it, and it's been several months since we got engaged. I will be going back to her for my wedding jewelry and for her to make a custom band to go with my ring. Thank you from the bottom of my heart, Angie, for being a part of this journey. read more

Angie was great! I went to several custom jewelry places around the city to look for custom engagement rings and wedding bands. I didn't find the right fit until I met Angie. She was very friendly and understood exactly what I was looking for! She did an incredible job picking out the stones for my ring and I couldn't be happier with the result! She even expedited its creation so that I'd have it on time for my wedding! I get so many compliments. I would highly recommend Angie--she's great at her job and takes it very seriously! read more

I found Stella Blue while in search of a local jeweler to reset a family heirloom ring. Not knowing much about fine jewelry, I trusted the reviews and put my trust in Angie and Alison. I could not be happier with the final product. My ring is STUNNING and working with them was a breeze at every step of the process. Angie is amazing. Anything you need- a gift, a treasure, a good find, an adjustment or fix, a custom piece, a restoration- you can absolutely trust Angie to handle it. I live in the neighborhood, had never been in to Stella Blue Design, but I knew it was there. I had a family heirloom (necklace/pendant) that I had planned to wear for my wedding in April. I had trouble finding earrings to match, so I thought I'd stop in to see if they made custom pieces. I brought in the necklace to Angie to show her what I was working with, and immediately I knew she shared my vision for earrings to match. We talked back and forth a bit about what I envisioned. 2 weeks later, viola. Perfect pearl drop earrings to match the necklace exactly. They were prefect. In the meantime, my mom had brought the necklace to "her guy" to get restored (it was a vintage piece missing a few seed pears and diamonds). Well, when we got it back from him, it looked horrible. He put huge pearls in where there should have been delicate ones. It really looked bad. Freaking out, I called Angie. I brought it in to her, and again, we were exactly on the same page. She restored it for me PERFECTLY. She kept it for a while, keeping her eye out for pieces that would fit perfectly. She didn't just piece it together. She kept such good care of it; she called me with updates; she knew how important a piece it is to my family. When I showed the restored necklace to my Grandma, she said "oh exactly how I remember it." She cleans my rings every time I go in. We chat. She's the sweetest. The girls Angie has on staff are so sweet, too. I even told one of them a secret that I hadn't even told my girlfriends. Sometimes I want to go in and just hang out. read more

Love this local jewelry store in the Southport neighborhood. Stella Blue has absolutely gorgeous jewelry. And even though they offer custom-made, high-end jewelry, they also have more affordable, equally as gorgeous options. I visited this week to buy a present for my sister, and while I was shopping they offered to clean my ring. It's one of those stores that is so comfortable to shop in, I wanted to spend all day there. Also, did I mention the jewelry is gorgeous? They offered in-store credit in case my sister didn't like the necklace, which was nice but turned out not necessary as she loved it. read more

My fiancee and I had been looking for a ring for about a year and a half. We were not happy with any of the alternatives of local stores, Etsy, Big Box, etc. Fortunately, we found SBD by a google search and had a great experience with Angie. She took the time to find out what we wanted, lifestyle, look, type of stone, where my fiancee would be wearing the ring. Angie offered alternatives and put together a great piece of art. The cost of the ring was very reasonable as well. I see the $$$$ (Pricey) listing on Yelp but I thought the price was very fair, what we wanted and less expensive than suburban jewelry stores. read more

She is making me a perfect custom hairpiece out of vintage jewelry, beautiful earrings out of fabric from my mom's wedding dress, and she even helped me with a great idea for a bridal purse that she isn't even making for me (but gave me recommendations for how and where I could do it). I cannot say enough good things about her and her shop. I can't wait to go back when I have more time and peruse her endless unique jewelry options. read more

My gal and I were probably a bit nervous about the prospects of finding an engagement ring that summed our feelings and 'wowed' us but didn't over-wow the wallet. Well let it be said that Angie and her staff removed any barriers and nervousness we had right away! Stella Blue Design BLEW AWAY our expectations - the resulting engagement ring is so unique and lovely, as are the wedding bands. The store selection is awesome, everything from unique in-house designs to vintage looks. I know that we'll both be back for more purchases. There's one-of-a-kind quality and such a range of styles throughout the store. To see the woman I love (who is more into 'funky' styles and doesn't really 'bling' out or show particular jewelry 'vanity'), every so often look at her hand and smile is such a great feeling! Angie's gem selection and special design touch is to thank for those moments! Angie is a delight to work - great communication, personalized attention, and it is obvious that she takes her work to heart. I feel like I got amongst the best service I have ever received.
