This review is long overdue, so let me start at the beginning... A couple years ago, my boyfriend (now fiancé) purchased a vintage locket for my birthday from Stella Blue Design. Despite not offering it as a service, Angie helped me laser cut and set a picture of him into the heart-shaped locket, only charging me a small fee. I really appreciated her generosity and knew I would return to her shop. About a year ago, I decided it was time to purchase a new gold chain for a pair of cloisonné pendants that belonged to my grandmother. Angie makes her own chains, and she was so patient while I looked at the various patterns and tried on different lengths. I originally planned on buying a single chain to share, but after reviewing my options I decided to purchase two of different pattern and length. The cloisonnés vary in color, shape, and size, and the chains we chose reflected their differences. Angie even added my grandmother's birth stone (peridot) to the clasp of each one! To use her words, these necklaces are now truly "heirloom quality" that I hope to pass down to my future children. Finally, this past fall. My fiancé worked with Angie to create a custom engagement ring. It has the Art Deco style that I love, and it's absolutely perfect. The ring is everything I wanted, and I have received so many compliments. The fact that Angie designed it makes it all the more special to me. Angie is kind, patient, and honest - every quality you would want in a jeweler. Her cozy little shop is welcoming, and everything is artfully arranged. Angie is a magician! My boyfriend had gotten me earrings from her studio for Christmas and although they didn't fit with my piercings, Angie was able to put their credit towards a re-design. My grandmother passed down a diamond necklace with an old setting that detracted from the diamond itself. I came into her store around 4p today with a request; I purchased a gold bar necklace a few weeks ago, and the chain was much shorter than I expected (purchased from Macy's). I'm not an expert in jewelry but the durability of my ring is top notch; I'm pretty clumsy and knock stuff over or run into things on the regular so I wanted/needed a ring that wouldn't get beat up easily. Angie described all the materials and design decisions that went into my ring as she catered it to what I needed. The craftsmanship is beautiful and very intricate, I'm biased here, but I can't stop looking at all the little intricacies. I first found out about Stella Blue Design by doing a search for jewelry boutiques in the city. I was looking to get sized for a ring and after taking some time to browse the website, I knew this was a place I wanted to check out. I was greeted by Angie, the designer and founder. She was extremely personable and knowledgeable and I loved the variety of beautiful jewelry on display. I recently returned to visit Angie after receiving a bracelet for Christmas that was too big for me. I was disappointed that the bracelet didn't fit me. I have a very small wrist and this bracelet was too big and was meant to just be slipped on which meant it continuously slid around on me and looked/felt silly. Angie and I e-mailed back and forth about what my options were. I took my bracelet into the shop and she explained that she could redesign the bracelet with a clasp so I could adjust it to fit me. I picked up my redesigned piece last night and am IN LOVE with it! Not only does it now fit me comfortably, but it has a whole new soft and feminine look and I couldn't be happier (see the before/after picture). Absolutely fantastic service and product! My girlfriend went here a couple months ago and showed me their slice of heaven earrings, so naturally i started formulating my plan for her birthday present. I was planning on going to their 20% off sale on dec 13 to get some of the slice of heaven earrings. 2 days before the sale i checked out the earrings online to figure out my plan only to find out the earrings are made to order -- shit! I thought i wouldnt get them in time (gf's birthday is dec 17) I called to find out if they had any pairs of the earrings in store and if they would honor the 20% storewide sale on dec 13 for the special earrings. Angela was so sweet and helpful, she had a large order for another client but was able to offer two different styles of the earrings for me to pick from and included the sale price! I went to the store on dec 13 to pick up the earrings and Angela was just as great and courteous in person. The rest of the staff were great too and offered me some nice whiskey as part of the sale promotion. She loved the earrings! The diamond of my wedding ring was lost. So I want it repaired. I came to this place since it was near my office work. I'm hoping that they have a nice service. One staff member greeted me and asked what he could do. I told him that my ring's diamond was lost so I need one. He said that it's easy to fix and it will not last an hour. So I wait for him while he repairs my wedding ring. While repairing I look at their show glass where I can see a lot of jewelry. I can see some rings, necklaces, watches and earrings. Some of them have high prices and some do not. After half an hour my ring was done. I'm amazed at how it looks. It looks new and pretty. Wow. What else can I say about Angie and Stella Blue that hasn't been said already? In the "effusive praise" column, probably not much, but I'll try: Came in looking for an engagement ring for my beautiful now-fiancée (!) and Angie helped me tremendously. As a heavy researcher of all purchases, I was stressing a bit because I had NO IDEA what kind of ring I wanted to surprise her with. All I knew was she had posted a few pictures on her Pinterest (that my sister deviously and thankfully hacked) showing vintage-style rings. But, I didn't want to buy an old ring that was vintage - i wanted it to be unique and in a vintage style. Finally, I had a friend who's dad used to be a jeweler and I got a stone at wholesale, so I just needed a custom band. Went in under the guise of "going on a bike ride" (so Angie had to put up with Lycra-Man for each visit), and she was amazing. Her shop is really cool, and the minute I went in, my fears melted away because I knew this was very much my fiancee's style. Nature-inspired, lots of delicate, understated pieces mixed in with bold but classy use of color - especially blues, greens and teals (her favorites). It was perfect! Angie worked with me on a custom design, then we agreed to add some filigree (new word for me!) to the sides to give it a vintage look. I was thrilled and knew this would be the one I wanted. Only problem is - I was on a tight deadline and hardly gave poor Angie any time to do it. She did an amazing job working with me and even had it done a week earlier than I needed. I cannot express to you how relieved I was, as I had planned the proposal perfectly and the ring was the last piece to fall into place. In short, Angie is a great person, a fantastically trustworthy businesswoman, and a peerless designer. In my (limited) experience, I don't see how she could be topped for any unique design if you like her style (and we both do). I honestly can't remember many experiences working with small businesses than have left me so satisfied and enthusiastic about their brand. Angie is amazing. Anything you need- a gift, a treasure, a good find, an adjustment or fix, a custom piece, a restoration- you can absolutely trust Angie to handle it. I live in the neighborhood, had never been in to Stella Blue Design, but I knew it was there. I had a family heirloom (necklace/pendant) that I had planned to wear for my wedding in April. I had trouble finding earrings to match, so I thought I'd stop in to see if they made custom pieces. I brought in the necklace to Angie to show her what I was working with, and immediately I knew she shared my vision for earrings to match. We talked back and forth a bit about what I envisioned. 2 weeks later, viola. Perfect pearl drop earrings to match the necklace exactly. They were prefect. In the meantime, my mom had brought the necklace to "her guy" to get restored (it was a vintage piece missing a few seed pears and diamonds). Well, when we got it back from him, it looked horrible. He put huge pearls in where there should have been delicate ones. It really looked bad. Freaking out, I called Angie. I brought it in to her, and again, we were exactly on the same page. She restored it for me PERFECTLY. She kept it for a while, keeping her eye out for pieces that would fit perfectly. She didn't just piece it together. She kept such good care of it; she called me with updates; she knew how important a piece it is to my family. When I showed the restored necklace to my Grandma, she said "oh exactly how I remember it." She cleans my rings every time I go in. We chat. She's the sweetest.
