David Han is a magician. Not the kind who dazzles you with card tricks or saws his lovely assistant in half. No, not at all. David's the kind of magic man who can take a 15-year-old suit of clothes that no longer fits as it once did (in my case, a dark pinstripe jacket and slacks) and transform it into a newly tailored set of threads that fits perfectly and actually made me feel handsome. How he did this is beyond me but probably involved a magic wand of some sort. I cannot recommend Zeglio Custom Clothiers on Broadway in Lake View highly enough. If you're looking to purchase a tuxedo or a new suit, I highly recommend Zeglio Custom Clothiers. Their prices are extremely reasonable--especially when you put into account the craftsmanship you'll be getting--and their products are made specifically to you!! I found Zeglio by accident years ago when I needed to get a cheap tuxedo altered for my sister's wedding. When I walked in, I was quickly greeted by Richard. He happily suggested a nearby place for alterations, but before I left, he put one of Zeglio's bespoke jackets on me to show me the difference in fit. When I left that day, I knew I wanted to have my wedding tuxedo created by these people. When that day finally came, I called Zeglio's Lakeview location to begin the process. My call was warmly answered by Richard and the experience began. Richard is an incredibly talented and knowledgeable designer. During the design portion, he was informative, patient, and considerate, which made the whole experience really enjoyable. I did my fitting and alterations at Zeglio's store in Loop. The place is super slick inside and the tailors really make you feel important: from the professionalism all the way to the small details most people would overlook, but makes a HUGE difference (suggesting I have the length of one of my shirt sleeves shorter than the other so my watch can be visible or altering the length of my pants so my socks show when I'm sitting down). Just an amazing attention to detail! My tuxedo only required a few minor adjustments. When I finally put everything on I was shocked at how flawless everything felt--I've never worn anything that has fit me so perfectly. This tuxedo made my wedding experience so much better. LOVE this place. I came here a few months ago to get a custom suit for my wedding. I worked with Richard and David who were both amazing and easy to work with. I was expecting a super sales-y high-pressure process but it was the total opposite. Aside from literally two optional upgrades that bump up the cost $20 or so, the price of your suit is solely dictated on whatever type of fabric you choose. That's it. They don't try to upsell you at all which was very appreciated. They're very easy to work with, highly detail-oriented, and on time as far as when your suit will be done. Overall it was an incredible experience and I loved customizing my suit from the ground up without having to pay an arm and a leg. I have never done a bespoke suit (or custom clothing in any way), and Zeglio made me realize it's not just the end product for my wedding that was important, it was the entire experience. I was a bit intimidated by the first design meeting, but Richard quickly put me at ease and led me through over an hour of designing every part of the suit. I never expected to enjoy this process as much as I did, and I give Richard all the credit for that. When finished, he gave me his contact information and encouraged me to reach out to him for feedback on shoes, ties and future clothing. Jake and his assistant led me through my next visit, a fitting that felt both efficient and thorough. He was nice and professional, and I walked away with total confidence that the suit would turn out well. When my wedding day came, Zeglio did not disappoint. Zeglio would be a very good deal if it were simply a place to get custom suits and shirts that fit well. What makes it a fantastic deal - and potentially transformative experience - is Richard. I can honestly say that working with Richard has deeply changed the way that I dress and my sense of style. I assume most people won't have this experience, but I am confident that Richard will steer you well in picking out a new suit or custom shirts. First, let me say that working with Richard means showing up at the shop on Broadway between Monday and Thursday. I STRONGLY recommend doing this. This allows the best of both worlds: you can consult with Richard, and then John will take your measurements on the weekend and you can consult with him as well. John tends to be more terse. He just gives you the books of fabrics to look through and make your own decisions. He's happy with whatever you are happy with. What makes Richard so great is that he has a fantastic eye for men's fashion and what looks good on you. He will probably discuss what colors are good for you given your skin tone, eye color, hair, etc. But what was really key for me is that he helped me articulate and build a sense of my own style. He helped me train my eye, but also helped me think about what I wanted to look like and how to get there. He will function as your personal style consultant, one that will help you pick out the best suit and shirts for you. One last thing. If, for any reason, you want them to take in the clothing after you try it on, they will do so happily. This has been important for me and given me some real peace of mind throughout the process. I started using Zeglio in 2010, when a friend had his groomsmen wear suits from John for his wedding. At the time, I ordered the wedding suit plus one more. They say that once you go custom for suits, you won't go back. This is absolutely true. John's suits fit perfectly, and he has a huge range of fabrics and prices, so he has something for many income levels. A couple years later, I used John for my own wedding, and everyone looked great! And, I've now seen almost 20 people in suits from Zeglio, so I can confidently say that they fit all body types perfectly. John knows how to make people look good. I've had a few suits and shirts made from another tailor since, and they weren't as good. John takes almost twice as many measurements, and is very flexible with options and customizations. He's very up to speed on all the latest fashion trends, but knows the right questions to ask to make sure you're not too far out of your comfort zone. I don't live in Chicago anymore, but still use John regardless. He has my measurements and is more than willing to mail me fabric samples or work via email and phone when I need him to. Short version: A+ experience. Great service, turn around time, and final product. Long version: I wanted to get a jacket made, so I made an appointment with Richard to do so. Richard was patient, knowledgeable, and helpful throughout the entire process. We started by choosing a fabric, and after that he helped walk me through all the jacket details. He was willing to explain and give his opinion on some of the options I was unsure about (which I appreciated), while also trying to cater to my style. After making my choices, I set up another appointment to come in for measurements. Also a great experience, I was in and out of there in about 15 minutes and felt like all of my needs were met. To top it all off, the turn around time was around 2-3 weeks. Pretty fantastic, especially considering I came in with an unreasonable request to have it done in said time frame. My replacement suit continues to wear well. The quality is outstanding and it's become my go-to suit. I do recommend getting a 100% wool suit over a poly-wool blend or any other fabric. The suit breathes well, doesn't lose its shape or color after dry cleaning, and doesn't wrinkle easily. I was so pleased by the replacement suit that I visited Zeglio again for a dinner jacket (tuxedo), that the team delivered on. TL;DR--I spent just as much on a bespoke (that is, completely custom) suit at Zeglio as I would on a "decent," much worse-fitting suit off the rack. My Zeglio suit is made of quality material I hand selected, fits me like a glove, and has subtle and tasteful indications that it was made custom for me. Zeglio's service was impeccable, from material selection and measurement on through the final fitting. My outlook on men's formalwear is profoundly and irreversibly changed. I am a professional student and needed to buy a suit for job interviews after a summer internship. I planned to spend a bit more than I usually would ($600-$700) for a name brand off-the-rack suit. I had had luck buying suits on sale at Saks and Nordstrom, but liked the look of the J. Crew Ludlow line. I bought one, to the tune of some $600 (after pant alterations), and stumbled into Zeglio (the Broadway location) looking to have the jacket altered to fit the way it would in the ad. There I met Richard Dayhoff (http://www.richarddayhoff.com/) who explained to me why the jacket would never fit the way I would want it to: the front darts in men's jackets are immovable, due to the placement of the front pockets. It has all the features of evening wear, but works just as well as a day-to-day work suit with a brown belt. I met the next day with John Park, Zeglio's CEO, at the location in the loop. There, John and his assistant walked me through one of the classiest experiences of my life, taking some forty measures on me for the suit and a custom shirt, not once but twice, with Vivaldi playing in the background (some real Scarface stuff). Two weeks later, the suit was ready for me to try on, and it exceeded every one of my expectations. The first time I went to Zeglio on Broadway, I just graduated. I really needed something making me look sharp and professional since I am getting tons of job interviews. Wonderful experience and suit. I'm a shorter stature guy so find it difficult to buy off the rack as even 36s is even too big for me still. Richard is very patient and answered all my questions about all suit matters as I knew nothing about lapels, vents, and all the other stuff and he really took his time to educate me, and that helped me make all the best decisions for my custom suit. He even found the perfect black wool fabric with a light pattern that I was looking for. He really knew his stuff. Also the owner John took all my measurements and the suit arrived 3 weeks later.
