Took it in to Reino's and he did a ton of alterations to both the pants and the jacket that came out fantastically. Better still, he promised---and delivered---the work in 2 weeks when one other tailor I called said he couldn't get it done in less than five thanks to "wedding season." The price felt like a lot ($250 for pretty major work) but you get what you pay for, and I think I got excellent value for my money.

They did not indicate there would be any sort of up charge or that it was a rush order or anything like that. It was ready early and done well... but it was 150% of the original cost of the dress. Iwas hoping that I could at least wear it to a few more weddings so that I didn't feel like I took such a big financial loss but alas it did not survive a very fun wedding (lol). I cannot afford to return here again and did confirm with 3 friends that they were charged the normal $40-50 for a hem at their respective tailors just in case I wasn't aware of some sort of crazy inflation on tailoring. Be sure to ask ahead of time what the charges will be so they don't take advantage of you or whatever it was that happened to me here!

The dress fit perfectly afterward and they completed it within a week, earlier than the pickup date I had asked for. The main issue for me was the organization during pickup. I received a text saying my dress was ready, but when I arrived they brought out a completely different piece of clothing even after I clearly described my dress. Turns out they had mixed up the name tags between my dress and someone else's. I ended up going to the back with them and immediately spotted my dress myself. I pointed it out and they asked if I was sure it was mine, which was a little strange. Then they asked me to try it on. At first I thought they just wanted to confirm the alterations looked right, but it turned out they wanted to see if it fit me to determine whether it was actually my dress. Thankfully it fit like a glove. Even after that, they still seemed unsure so I showed Yelp messages I had previously sent with photos of the dress, along with my receipt and even how much I paid. I usually throw receipts away, so thank goodness I still had it. After confirming in multiple different ways, they finally let me take my dress home. Another woman was also there picking up clothing after receiving a text notification and they were struggling to locate her item too, so it didn't seem like an isolated issue. Overall, I think the tailoring work itself is solid, but the shop felt pretty disorganized. The guy working there did apologize before I left, which I appreciated, but the whole process of having to repeatedly prove the dress was mine was definitely frustrating.

Argumentative staff and sloppy work. I would strongly recommend going elsewhere for tailoring…read more I brought in 3 brand-new blouses and received one of them back with multiple random, oil-like spots across the fabric. Another blouse had damage under the bust near the armpit area. When I raised the issues, the owner (Rosario) attempted to blame me for the poor stitching work, which was both confusing and unacceptable. What made the experience especially upsetting was the attitude. I was not met with an apology. Instead, the conversation became defensive and aggressive when I was simply trying to get an explanation for damage to a new garment. There are many tailoring shops in the area. I would save yourself the frustration, poor workmanship, and disrespectful treatment and choose one of them instead.

I would not recommend completing bridal alterations with this company under any circumstance. My…read moreexperience was nothing short of traumatic. I arrived to my first scheduled appointment the team was not aware of my arrangement. Every subsequent appointment was met with a different staff member who was not familiar with my dress. Previously discussed alterations were not completed or were completed incorrectly. Staff would tell me conflicting recommendations, then assure me everything would be perfected in "quality control" which never happened. Staff were not equipped to properly complete alterations for my couture wedding gown. The studio and space was filthy. My dress became so dirty with dirt and hair. It appeared that an animal with black fur slept on my gown. I could tell there were watermarks from what I assume is attempted stain removal that was not disclosed to me. The staff members left fingerprints on my gown. They did not wear gloves or handle it with care. The alterations were insufficient and done poorly. They were not able to properly taken the corset of my dress in. They just added large bra cups and told me to use bra tape. The bustle was completed incorrectly with a few flimsy hooks that would not have stood wearing my dress all night. I had to pressure the team to rush my dress to be "finished" on time enough for me to take my dress to another salon where I was charged thousands of dollars to fully clean the dress and also complete rushed alterations. My dress was not ready until the day before my wedding, which was extremely stressful and traumatic. Once again, I would not recommend having bridal alteration at this shop to my worst enemy. It is incomprehensible that this team was going to send me down the aisle with a filthy dress with a bustle that was falling apart and a corset that did not fit me properly. This was the experience of a nightmare that caused me and my family many sleepless nights and lots of tears. They not only wasted precious time, but it ended up being very expensive to correct a damage that was done on the salon's behalf on one of the most important days of my life.

I obviously would have totally understood if Ms. Young said she couldn't do it in time (it needed quite a bit of tailoring too) but she was such a sweetheart and was able to squeeze me in and get the dress tailored overnight. I actually had brought this dress to another alterations place, and had lost hope in this dress…read moreever fitting me the way I wanted it to. It was too big and hung on me like a drape. I brought it here as a last minute save before I cut my losses and bought another dress. Dana agreed to take this on... a MONTH before my wedding! It was pricey ($400) but worth it. She expertly took out a panel of the corset on each side, and painstakingly sewed each individual beaded flower back on the bodice. She shortened the bottom of the dress, and carefully measured out the lines to keep the bubble shape. If I had known how much work this was, I might not have bought the dress! But Dana had me come in for a few fittings to make sure that all of the work was done to fit me perfectly. She made sure I could sit down in it. That I practiced walking in it, with the heels I would wear on the wedding day. She helped me bustle it (7-point bustle, because the train of the dress is off to one side). She even took pictures of the back of the dress for me, so I could really see it. I got SO MANY COMPLIMENTS on this dress! My grandmother was a professional seamstress before she retired, and she said this was the most beautiful dress she had seen. (She might be slightly biased). Wedding guests told me it had the "wow factor." People on the street stared at my dress. Another bride I crossed paths with during our first look pictures told me how beautiful my dress was (I was nice and returned the compliment). But what made it worth every penny was the look on my fiance's face when he saw me. Worth. Every. Penny. Thank you Dana for saving me so much stress on my big day, and helping me look fabulous!

DO NOT RISK YOUR CLOTHING HERE…read more My experience here at Sew Special was such a nightmare. I brought my brand new bridesmaid dress in to have some length taken off my and to have the sides of expanded. After they promised the dress would be ready in two weeks, I went back they had only taken the length off. They then promised that it would be ready 6 days later (2 days before I flew out for the wedding). I go back in and while yes they completed service, I come to find a HUGE oil stain on the front of my dress now. When I asked what happened so I could figure out how to clean it, the man at the front desk immediately tried to gaslight me, claiming the stain was already there. This was a complete lie - the dress was brand new and went straight from the box to their shop. Rather than apologizing or offering a real solution, he was incredibly rude, hostile, and gave me back a pathetic $15 out of a $125 service. I went back the next day after I dropped my dress off at a dry cleaner (love them) and asked for him to pay my dry cleaning bill at a minimum. He huffed and puffed and continued to try to gaslight me but in the end did pay my $38 dry cleaning bill but proceeded to yell at me to get out of his shop and never wanted to see my face again. He didn't offer me a singe apology for my damaged dress or for missing their initial deadline. He was so incredibly rude and disrespectful. If he would've handled this situation with grace and solutions, this could've been so different. I will never recommend going here ever.
