Bone Marrow Board
Connie E.

Came by Ellie's for Sunday brunch, and it wasn't too busy, so we were seated right away. You park in the surrounding neighborhood, and finding a spot can be a little tricky. Our server was very friendly and attentive. We sat on the patio, which is dog friendly, and they provided fly fans for the table, which were helpful while eating outside! We ordered the bone marrow board, Ellie's burger, and the tagliatelle pasta. The bone marrow was so delicious! It had some fatty bits that I really enjoyed, and everything was well seasoned. The different dips added so much flavor. The bread was soft on the inside with a crispy crust and paired so well with everything on the board. The burger took a while to come out and was good, but nothing too special. The tagliatelle, though, was super tasty! It was creamy with a little spice and had so much flavor in every bite. The shrimp came in small pieces, which made it easy to eat. Would definitely recommend, especially if you love savory, flavorful food. I'd come back to try their dinner, but next time I'd probably sit inside.

Me and my friends went here awhile ago for their brunch. We ordered burrata for the table, I had Ellie's Cesar and Mafaldine. It was not busy at that time. Parking is a little hard since it's in a corner spot in a neighborhood in Long Beach. Overall, it was a great experience, we got seated outside. Service was great and friendly. Food was pretty decent, I really like the cesar salad I got. And my friend also ordered the Brussel sprouts, that's pretty good too. Overall would recommend to try it.

Oysters

Came here with 2 other friends for a (late) Saturday lunch and we were seated immediately! We opted to sit outside in the patio area as the server said indoor seating was warmer, which was nicely shaded with umbrellas and a cool breeze. The only thing was that flies kept bothering us (my goodness were they hungry), but the waiter graciously gave us a spinning fly deterrent fan (which somewhat worked)... I suppose that's to be expected when you sit outside. We ordered 6 oysters to share ($5.50 each with 6 minimum oyster order) and the tagliatelle for each of us. The oysters were delicious and paired well with the provided seasonings. The tagliatelle was creamy and savory with the shrimp and scallops, but I was expecting the pork ragu and bone marrow butter to shine more in the dish- couldn't really taste them. Service was standard, parking is on the street but was not difficult to find. Overall this was a cute corner brunch/lunch spot

Amazing bday dinner Just not good parking so take an uber So many different things than regular restaurants Love the pasta and appetizers and even dessert Service was amazing Great spot for a bday dinner Ambience was quiet inside during the summer as everyone else was dining outdoors

I had been wanting to try this place for quite a few years now, but every time I looked at the menu online the prices stopped me dead in my tracks! We happened to be in the neighborhood and within very close proximity so I said "phuck it", lets FINALLY give it a try lol. Patio dining is the most popular as they do not have AC inside; however, the tables were too close for my comfort (there were a couple open) so we chose to dine inside and it was not bad in there (temp wise) at all (they have a fan on). We started off with the burrata app (24.00, gulp!) & it came with three rolls (not sure if homemade), the burrata, and what appeared to be a tapenade. It was tasty but definitely not worth the price. For entrees, I ordered the pappardelle (26.00) which came with a pork ragu & bone marrow (BTW, pasta is made fresh in house). BFF ordered some type of pasta with spicy pork sausage (33.00). Both were very tasty with just a tad of spiciness. We did not order any dessert as our server did not offer any as well as not seeing it on the menu (one page menu). I am glad that I finally got to dine in at this place; however, it is for special occasions only (in my book) as it came to 115.00 for 2 (before tip) & that was with no alcoholic beverages (just soda). I did notice on their website that they have "oyster hour" (happy hour with oysters) 6 days a week so I'd definitely like to try that with more reasonable pricing!

We chose Ellie's to celebrate two of our best friends getting married and it was the perfect spot! Everything we ordered was delicious! When you go, def order: Bone Marrow Board, Shrimp & Melon Salad, Rillettes Crostada, Chicken Piccata, Pappardelle, and the massive Short Rib Al Pastor. And remember to save room for the Strawberry Cake and Panna Cotta! The food was incredible, fantastic service, and we loved Ellie's atmosphere with their outdoor seating. Would be a great place for a date night or any celebration. We'll definitely be back!

Tried the $35 lunch special with a girlfriend and really enjoyed it! It includes a salad or veggie, entrée, and chef's choice dessert--such a great way to sample the menu. The fresh pastas were perfectly al dente and the sauces were amazing. Service was great, parking was easy on a weekday, and the outdoor patio is super cute. The interior could use a little love, but overall, a really good lunch experience!

We came here because I was craving oysters. The only downside is that parking around the area is really difficult, so be prepared to spend some time looking for a spot. The oysters were served with a sauce already on them, which wasn't my preference since I like adding my own. Thankfully, the manager was quick to help and had them changed. I really appreciated the excellent customer service. The steak was flavorful, and the pasta was absolutely delicious--my husband and I both loved it. Overall, I'm giving this place 4 stars. The food and service were great, but the parking situation is definitely a challenge.

So glad that I finally stopped by Ellie's. This place is great! Loved their happy hour (oyster menu) headed by $1.50 oysters and $3.50 scallops. The oysters were good but the scallops were great! We ended up staying for dinner and I am sure glad that we did. We ordered the Shrimp and Melon dish, and what in the world? Amazing!! Closed with their Mafaldine with spicy sausage. Everything here was fantastic. I will be back.

Definitely enjoyed my food! Loved everything. My waiter Tim was very attentive, I enjoyed our conversation, and will always remember. I like briny oysters, but the ones I had were a tad too- but it's ok! Pasta was tasty! The layout was nice with a touch of elegance.

My colleagues were raving about this place for their fresh oysters on the HH menu so last month, a few of my other colleagues finally got a chance to stop by on a Friday during their HH. We made a reservation for outside for 6 and had such a wonderful time. Food was incredible and the scallop and oysters were so yummy! We ordered two dozens of each! I was surprised by how small the restaurant is, inside. I think the best seats in the house are outdoor! Service was a bit slow but we didn't mind because food was incredible! I really like the melon and shrimp salad also. My colleagues really enjoyed the pasta dish and the bone marrow cheese plate and the fish and chips. Overall, good food and would come back for their fresh seafood options!

Love this little gem in Long Beach. My husband and I usually come alone and today we decided to bring our daughter. She devoured the scallops and oysters . They are fresh and go down easy. We ordered everything on the oyster menu except the burger. The restaurant is small and quaint. The staff are superb! I really enjoy this place. It is our go to for dates! Everything on the menu is excellent and the sauces with every dish pairs perfectly.

I was so excited to try this place after hearing great things but it was just okay. I came for the lunch prix fixe. We got the Caesar salad which I was let down by; flavor was lacking and the croutons were so hard I thought my tooth would break. We also got the brussel sprouts which were amazing; cooked to perfection and the sauce was phenomenal. We got the mafaldine pasta which hardly tasted like a vodka pasta, I compared the flavor to a thin, unseasoned tomato soup. The pasta itself was great but the base was not. We also got the tagliatelle which made up for the disappointing mafaldine. The pasta was the perfect texture, flavor was amazing, and the fishy shrimp took it to the next level. The included dessert was a panna cotta which was good but nothing to write home about. The interior did not feel like an authentic Italian restaurant and was drab/dry. Typical white/gray interior that takes away the authenticity of a restaurant. Lastly, there were several large flies, which I understand may not the restaurants fault but one did land in my wine which they did quickly replace. I would definitely think twice about coming back here and would only order the brussel sprouts and tagliatelle. Staff was nice and friendly.

We came all the way from Santa Clarita and we're not disappointed. Past all the namebrand places by the aquarium and came here and we're not disappointed. I had the work burger, which has fried portobello mushrooms. Others in our group had grilled cheese and poutine burger, and Italian burger and the hotdog and the breakfast burritos. No one was disappointed actually, we were surprisingly pleased with our selections. Sleeper items are the fried cheese curds by themselves. Make sure you get these. Also the onion rings are batter dipped. And beyond delicious! Only bummer is the drinks are cans, so if you need more than one drink, be prepared to pay for each can. The food was super delicious!!

It was really loud during our visit. I'm not sure if it's always that lively on Friday nights, but it was the weekend of Warped Tour, so there was a lot of music and energy. If you're looking for a quieter meal, this may not be the best night to visit. The food itself was good, but the wait was much longer than expected. We waited almost 40 minutes for our order. Unfortunately, my burger was also made incorrectly. I ordered the Bacon Bleu Burger but was served a different burger instead. Not quite sure what it was, but it had mushrooms and American cheese. Since we had already waited so long, I decided to just eat it rather than send it back. The burgers were flavorful, but they were smaller than I expected for the price, and they don't come with fries. To round out my meal, I ordered the poutine fries. They were decent. The fries were nice and crispy, which I appreciated. My husband ordered the Burger Don Chendo, and that ended up being the standout of the night. I usually don't like spicy food, but this burger had just the right amount of heat without being overwhelming. Overall, the food was enjoyable, but between the long wait, the incorrect order, and the portion size for the price, the experience was a bit hit-or-miss. I'd be willing to give them another try, especially for the Don Chendo burger, but I'm hoping for a smoother experience next time.

I've traveled around and tried a lot of burger joints. It's honestly hard to fuck up a burger, but it's also hard to make one truly memorable. The Win-Dow captures exactly what an LA burger should be: quick, simple, delicious, and affordable. Now they have locations throughout Southern California, including this one in Long Beach--which I especially like because it isn't surrounded by hundreds of hipsters. It's in one of my favorite parts of Long Beach, where you still get those laid-back beach-town vibes. The staff is usually pretty straightforward. Smiling must be considered an "ick" nowadays, but no worries--I'm here for the burgers. There's a chill little area outside the pickup window where you can eat, or you can drive a few blocks to the beach and enjoy it there. For the quality, simplicity, and price, The Win-Dow is genuinely one of my favorite burger joints. When you consider everything--not just the burger itself, but the experience and value--this could possibly be the best burger in LA.

The staff is incredibly friendly - there was a server named Isabelle who was super bubbly and honestly made the night. Not listed, but I did have the Horchata cocktail and that was pretty good. I also had another drink, but I don't recall what the name was (that is the one that's pictured). I do think this one was better... as far as the food goes it's certainly OK. The price is just a little steep for what you are getting especially drink size/quality wise. Fortunately, when I have been twice this year, the line has been mostly nonexistent, but normally I've seen the line wrapped around the building and it can be a pretty hefty wait considering it's walk-ins only after 4:30 PM. Overall, I will be back, purely based off of the decor and the incredible service. I do think that the drinks and food portion need a little bit more love considering this is a location already exists and is not necessarily a "pop-up" and at the end of the day, it is advertised as a restaurant/cocktail bar and not just an "experience". Considering I'm a local I'm more likely to come back, but I do think that the restaurant does rely more so on the decor than it does the items it serves. I would give the food and drinks a 3/5 whereas the love & dedication in decor, and service really bumped it up to at least one more "star" for the overall review.
