Unsuspecting hole in the wall restaurant in Medford that turned out to be one of the best meals I've had in a long time. While the decor is more reminiscent of a bar/pub, the food is on the level of fine dining, so be prepared to pay appropriate prices. We decided to order the Papas De Toro (seeing its immense popularity on Yelp) and a black paella to share. The food took quite a while so we later also ordered a $1 side of bread which is just 5 thin slices of a baguette. Papas De Toro: Braised beef oxtail and fried potato wedges over a bed of wilted frisee with an option of additional poached eggs on top. The first time they brought it out, the poached eggs were overcooked, but they were nice enough to redo the dish for us. WOW, it was really really good! Almost tastes like poutine, but much more flavorful and refined. The potato wedges were crisp, but not dry the beef was amazingly tender and flavorful, soaking up the rich yolk from the poached eggs. Reminded me of a similar dish I had at a high end restaurant in LA. Black paella: this is a dish where every bite tastes better than the previous. It's not described on the menu, but the paella has a distinct smokiness to it that grows on you (if you are open to it). Although they weren't very generous with the seafood, the richness and depth of flavors in the paella was more than enough to make up for it. The addictive experience was indescribable! While it says on the menu that it feeds 3-4, I would say that it's closer to 1-2 if ur a dude like me with a decent appetite. read more

I mean... I get it the stuff here are busy. But the service is... not bad, but awful. First of all when we came in, the guy at the bar ignored us (but he greeted other ppl who come in). We stood there, no ppl came to us, we had to go to the receptionist and ask (more wait, they just ignored us not even look at us). Then when we were seated, some bug flew to our table, flying and the as kinda scary (the stuff walk by and ignored us again of course). Then we waited so long to order... I get it the stuff are busy but at least talk to us? Not ignoring us all the time? However, seems like other tables are getting taken care of. Is it because we're Asians????The food is overrated. The mahi-mahi is too salty and the paella is too plain (waited 80 mins for the paella even tho the waitress said was 45mins) . won't come here again. read more

First night in Medford. We are traveling seniors who don't want leftovers. Tapas is the way to go go. Elements was the perfect choice. A relaxed atmosphere and attentive wait staff made this a pleasurable experience. There is a full bar and a tender who made a wonderful Cadillac Margarita that was reasonably priced. Curiously, we only ordered from the meaty back page of a four-page menu. Of the four dishes we tried, two are recommended. The "papas de toro" with braised beef on a heaping pile of diced potatoes and topped with the right amount of white truffle oil. The leg of Iberico ham was crudely cut into shards instead of across the grain but I guess there's no way to mess up those acorn-fed black-footed pigs as the meat was still exceptionally tasty along with being nicely priced. The other two dishes were good but not that memorable. The lamb merguez sausage came as a meatball on a stick. To eat, it was best to break up the meatball and mix with the carrots and olive salad on the side to balance the flavors. The "Seville" was a simple combination of simple mushrooms, goat cheese, and simple spinach on a simple flatbread. The cocktails were awkward and we should have ordered wine instead. I took my two kids here on a Saturday night and we were seated near the bar. So I will rank this very adult place kid-friendly. My kids (3 and 18) enjoyed the ceviche, the papas, and a few other dishes. I enjoyed the cocktails, ambiance, and friendly staff (and the food, all of it). Passing through Medford to visit some friends, they recommended we all come to Elements for some drinks and light snacking. We really only came here for the drinks since they specialized in custom infused cocktails. We started with a spanish omelette and some bread with oil and balsamic vinegar. The omelette was serves cold but very tasty. It had cheese, potatos, and a spicy sauce layered on top. For drinks, we had a blood orange gin negroni, a bourbon and black lace which had Aztec dark chocolate bitters, whiskey and raspberry puree, a "zippy pepino" which had a 5 pepper infused tequila, a raspberry smash, a "sexy human" passion fruit with hot monkey peppers, and the "garden gnome," a tumeric cilantro vodka. The drinks were out of this world. These guys know how to infuse liquor. Most memorable was the zippy pepino. The waitress told us this is some spice to it. Now, I really like spicy so I was a bit skeptical when she said this. But WOW.. this had a great bite to it and hit the back of your throat. Later I found out, this pepper infused tequila had Serrano, chipotle, Chile de arbol, Passilla, and Habanero. So watch yourself, this one will definitely give you a kick. Everything had a delicious but unexpected twist of flavor, not to mention really strong! Totally worth a trip here in little down Medford. Next time passing through town, it will definitely be on my list of visits. read more

Saw the amazing menu, and wanted take out for family visiting from out of town. They were reluctant to sell paella for takeout because they are proud of the tableside presentation. But we called early enough and they took pity on us, and we are thankful they did. The salads were amazing, the two paellas were perfect to share and amazing to eat. Drinks and tapas here are absolutely fantastic. If you come super hungry just be prepared to spend some money because they truly are small tapas portions and the price adds up quick. Love the ceviche and the mushrooms tapas. Have also had the Mahi Mahi and it was yummy. All of their cocktails are made with fresh ingredients and don't taste like premade of the shelf syrup which is fantastic. Definitely highly recommend. read more

We were in their last night and experienced the worst customer service. We were told to sit anywhere. About 5 minutes later the waitress came and gave us menus. 15 minutes later she came back and asked if we decided on drinks. At this point, she is filling up our water glasses. I told her we were ready to order also. She told us she needed to grab a pen and would be right back to take our order. She goes to her computer is munching on a snack and then heads to the table next to us and takes their order. She then goes back to her computer and starts talking to the bartender (owner). After this she is grabbing dishes and precedes to set up another table. By this time we have been sitting for over 20 minutes with still not even our drink order taken. Needless to say, we decided to get up and go to another local place with more care and concern for the customer. Part of the problem I saw was that their was only one person working the dining room. She was waiting tables, cleaning and setting up her own tables, and delivering food to tables. Which is a lot of work for one waitress considering the place was packed. The other problem was this particular waitress was not in a hurry at all. She would stop and talk to the bartender, eat snacks, and took her time. It really felt like a disregard or care for the customers. The other time we went to this place both our drink orders were made incorrectly. Our waiter joked about it. While I like the atmosphere and the food is usually on point the customer service is really under par. This place will no longer be on our high list of go to places or recommendations to people. read more

Stellar restaurant. The atmosphere is relaxing, the food is good, and their wine flight is not to be missed. $9 for three big pours of wine?! I would suggest the Spanish wines but I know many people are loyal to the Oregon grapes... All the dishes I've tried here have been good, but must haves: papas del toro, paella, and cauliflower. The mushroom plate is also delicious. Go with a big party so you can order a lot of plates and try a little bit of everything. Small plates are not too pretentiously small. The paella takes 40 mins to make and I would recommend it only if you have 5 other people to share it with, as the portions are big. Definitely a go-to spot when in Medford! read more

The first thing I noticed about this place was the amazing music! It was like they were playing my The xx station on Pandora. Brownie points for Little Dragon songs and the intimate and dim atmosphere. The ceilings are pretty cool with specks of light that look like constellations. Delicious house sangria--not too sweet with the perfect amount of alcohol. Sundays = Happy hour from 4-closing! We ordered 2 of the artichoke cheese dip (best decision of the meal), bocadillos (second best decision), ceviches, calamari, and mushrooms Catalan. I LOVED the artichoke cheese dip--soooo amazing and incredibly cheap. The bocadillos are also very good! Usually I'm not a fan of capers, but all the exploding flavors made it bearable. We stopped by early on a Saturday night for some cocktails and dessert. We really enjoy Elements and would highly recommend it. The bartender was very friendly and enjoyed his work. He was familiar with my favorite cocktail and talked to me about some subtle changes to it. The final product was great. The dessert we had was a chocolate cake with vanilla ice cream. It was the perfect size smaller portion for us to share. The cake was rich and delicious and you could tell the ice cream was home made by the texture and little flecks of vanilla bean. The variety of bottles behind the bar looked intentional. I liked the little details like using fresh squeezed lemons instead of juice from a bottle. The decor was classy without seeming like it was trying too hard. I felt at home in my jeans at the bar and the other customers were comfy and casual as well. Made our first visit to Element Tapas last night after seeing it's good reviews.To start out we had the fireside martini and Papas de Toro which were delicious, I love ox tail so this was a pleasant dish in my opinion. Now I was very much looking forward to the paella, it was tasty and very beautiful, however it was missing a very important key part to a good paella..the socarrat, it is a hard dish to get on point so I do give props to the chef for a a good version of the Valencian dish. Our waitress was very nice and prompt with service we did not receive bad service as others have mentioned in their reviews, however the staff were goofing around and throwing a ball, which I thought was not very proper for a fine dining environment, although it was no bother to us personally. Went here for the first time on a Wednesday night with my boyfriend. There was ample street parking. It was busy inside but we got a table quickly. Lots of people in groups of three or more. The ambiance is cozy. There seemed to be only two wait staff so our server apologized for being slow but it didn't feel that way. She was still attentive. My boyfriend and I ordered the mushrooms Catalan, garlic saffron prawns, and the artichoke hearts with Serrano ham. I got a sangria and he got a French 75. My favorite dish was the prawns. It was cooked perfectly and had all the right flavors. The mushrooms were good but I was expecting more. Nevertheless, we finished all of our food. My sangria was just okay. I wish there were chunks of fruit at the bottom like other places have. And the drink could've been stronger. It tasted diluted with champagne, not what I'm used to with more authentic Spanish tapas places. Lastly, I think what would contribute to the overall atmosphere is playing Spanish music in the background. If it's a tapas place, that's what I would expect. Went here about a month ago while staying in Jacksonville for 3 nights - passing through. It's a small dark bar and was a little worried about what the food would be like. There were only two other parties there- guess a slow night. Bar tender was very attentive - waitress seemed to be in training. Had the saffron prawns which was amazing. Honestly I wish I had taken photos of the food here...this place is absolutely killer. Happened to be passing through the area at the time and myself and some friends decided to stop here. We didn't realize that we arrived 15 mins before they opened but they were nice enough to let us come in and take a seat because it was a million degrees outside. Almost everyone at the table ended up ordering their blue cheese chicken dish and they ALL loved it...even the guy who "hates blue cheese" lol. I ordered the oxtail dish as well as the seafood skewers and it was all fantastic. The seafood was cooked to absolute perfection and the lemon dip was phenomenal...the oxtail was so tender and succulent and packed full of flavor; plus, the staff was super friendly! For what appears to be a fancy restaurant with unique menu options...the prices were totally affordable and the serving size was plenty for each of us. Definitely recommend trying this place if you haven't! We'll certainly visit again, if not just to try the paella. read more

Wow! We got here at 9pm due to driving all afternoon and going off Yelp reviews this place did not disappoint!!! We ordered the arugula beet salad which was very fresh and incredibly good. We also ordered the ribs Yelp reviewers raved about - AMAZING! Then we got the flatbread with ham and fig - again, so good. I even dipped the bread crust in the apricot sauce from the ribs. We finished it off with the flan. I don't usually like flan - I liked it. Great place! Also the drinks were good too - Mojito and Amber Ale. With the state wide 10pm curfew in Oregon, it's tough to find places that will serve you even 20 minutes before closing. We strolled in at 9:50 this past Friday night, and they treated us like we were their first party of the evening. The food was spectacular. The only issue anyone had with the food was someone mentioned the salmon was a bit salty. It was, but I loved it and wouldn't consider sending it back. The Duck was great, the cauliflower fantastic, dates in bacon superb, Moscow mule did it's trick. Check them out. I would go back when I come back into town. read more
