You HAVE to make a reservation or you don't get through the door. The door actually takes you into a barbershop at Tinseltown and then (with a password) behind it, recreating a speakeasy experience from the days of Prohibition. And they ask you to dress up--no jeans. That's kind of fun, but it's really all about the food. INCREDIBLE FOOD. Four of us had 2 different beef steaks, rack of lamb and swordfish steak. ALL done perfectly and tasty, as well as various sides. No one regretted their choices. The service was impeccable--attentive but not intrusive. And then there were the deserts: the four of us shared 3 different deserts and all were to die for. I'm a longtime baker with varied experience here and in Europe and never had better deserts anywhere. Not a place for kids--no one under 21. Mocktails as well as wine and. cocktails. And fairly expensive but well worth it--we were celebrating a birthday and when they found out delivered the deserts with a huge wonderful sparkler. They have special event nights with live music and they also have burlesque nights--so ask. But you can go to just relax, enjoy and eat well.

I grade a restaurant on numerous parameters (e.g., parking, attitude of host or hostess, waiter or waitress, ambiance, noise vs music, and of course quality and presentation of food and drink, and expense. My rating goes from 0 (absolutely horrible) to 10 (the most incredible dining experiences in my life). I consider any restaurant with a rating 7 or higher worthy of return. I think in Medford, most restaurants rate about a 6-6.5. I rate Tartine at an 8 to perhaps 8.5. 1. Parking fine. 2. Greeting upon entry- Wonderful from host and hostess. 3. Ambiance/Decor: I cannot think of any place with better ambiance and tasteful decor than this. I am speaking of the interior. Just beautifully done. 4. Waitress we had (Angie): would take her home and/or adopt her. What a doll. A sour-puss waitress or waiter can kill a meal. Angie brightened up everything. Good on you, Angie. 5. Food, drink: coffee very good; food excellent. Price reasonable. I only have one negative. I don't need noise in the form of bad music or bad speakers while I am eating and having conversation. IF perhaps the sound was not the thump-thump of an aerobics class and instead it was soft jazz, or soft classic music not intrusive, I would up my grade to a 8.5-9. I will go back and try to find seating far away from any speaker.

It's run by a husband and wife and we had such a lovely conversation with the wife (sor Im not so good at remembering names). Service was so friendly and menu recommendations were spot on! A definite must try is the carrot curry soup - it doesn't disappoint! We also had the Tuna melt and Gerry's grinder sandos. The food was all fresh and delicious. If we lived in the area we'd definitely go back for the wine bar experience in this cute spot

The korean burritto wrap was falling apart and the flavor needed a punch like add a bimbimbap sauce or some kind of korean flavored sauce with some korean chili flavor. The slaw on the side was not great and just tasted like vinegar and paprika. The BLT was on a small fresh roll but was also falling apart and made it hard to eat without making a mess. The bacon had no smokey flavor and the cream cheese was a little too much so changes I would make is stronger bun, bacon with more smokiness, maybe some picked red onion to cut the richness. Anyway we will be back to try the soups they are known for. Service was great and coffee was too. Will update next visit...
