I need a pair of pants hemmed in a super short period of time. Basically overnight. The place I normally go to would take at least a week, so I tried Elegant Designs. I stopped in and went inside. It is super small inside but it works for what they need. I was greeted by Amber. She was super nice and sweet. I told her what I needed to be done and when I needed my pants. She laughed a little and told me, that I would not be a problem. I went into the dressing room and changed, when I came out she was ready and got my pants all pinned up. Changed again and came out, gave her my pants and my phone number, and out the door, I went. The next day Amber called me and told me my pants were done and ready to be picked up. When I arrived, I again was greeted by Amber, she asked how I was doing and gave me my pants. I paid her and gave her a little extra for being so fast with getting my pants hemmed. The only thing that's bad about Elegant Designs is the parking. It can be a nightmare if there is someone else in the driveway or if you are trying to back out on Watt Ave. ALL IN ALL ELEGANT DESIGNS IS A GREAT PLACE AND DOES AWESOME WORK. I took my backpack so Amber (the semstress) could fix it. She made it worse with the zipper not closing. Then she denied she worked on it after I took it back for a redo. I took it to another tailor and got it fixed. Dont bring your clothes here, they do a horrible job and worse or all are dishonest. read more

I definitely recommend this place to ANYBODY who is on a last minute need to get altered type of thing. I gave her my dress a week before prom and I needed a few changes made such as cutting the bottom , loosening the neck and another thing and she definitely got all that done within a week PLUS she has great prices. I'm so glad I found her because The way I was goin I was looking at about a $250 Dollar alteration and she did it for even cheaper . I RE-discovered AMBER @ ELEGANT DESIGNS today! Yea!!! A few years back, I walked in after seeing her sign on Watt near Edison. I had a big order: many professional pants (hemming), stretch jeans (more closely fitting the waist), and maxi dresses (hemming and more closely fitting the bust-torso-waist). AMBER was professional, pleasant, managed multiple customers with ease and had very fair rates. My large order was ready the day we agreed upon and the alterations were PERFECT---et ça y est VOILA---like a 'new wardrobe'! When Elegant Designs relocated further up Watt, I never made it to that shop. Today my sister and I bought some jeans at Goodwill on Watt/El Camino and they needed to be hemmed. I was telling her about Amber and how bummed I was she had moved out of the area. We decided to give the 'new tailor' a try and discovered: AMBER WAS BACK! Same professionalism, as pleasant as ever, still managed multiple customers with ease and (God love her) still had very fair rates. Yippee! I had to get my newly issued work uniform altered cery quickly. I was desperate to find some place that could do it and then I found this place. The owner was very kind and professional and understood my situation perfectly. She could have charged me a lot of money to do what I needed but she was super fair and charged me much less than what everyone else quoted me. She didn't even measure me, she just looked at me and knew what to do. The clothes fit perfectly! I will definitely be bringing more clothes to her in the future. read more

Take your clothes here! She is the best. I had people in my wedding take their clothes here and literally saved so much money from other quoted places. Her work is excellent. My fiancé now husband got a pant hem, vest taken out a few inches, and arm sleeves taken in. Cost: $35. Brother got a pant hem, arm sleeves adjusted. Cost: Less than $20. Father got a pant hem, vest taken out, arm sleeves adjusted. Cost: $35 Men's Wearhouse, where the clothes were purchased. Quoted the vest at $35 for taking out, probably would have charged more depending on how many inches. My MOH took her dress here to get it taken out in the hips and taken in in the bust area. Cost: $26. My mom took her dress here for the wedding and two other dresses for a hem and a little adjustment. Cost: under $40. For THREE dresses! Now i wish i would have found her sooner for my wedding dress. I paid for $450 at Davids Bridal for bustle and hem, and would have probably paid 75% less than what i did at davids. Great quality work. Any other adjustments, we will always take to her. I do recommend calling her before you pick up your items. She does keep her door locked, so make sure to ring the bell when you arrive :) read more

Do NOT go here. You have to pay cash up front before the work is done and then they don't honor their word for backing their quality of work. They ruined 3 new pairs of pants my husband wanted hemmed just an inch shorter. He is 6 feet tall and they altered his pants to be above his ankles (to a 26" inseam instead of 32") . When he took them back to get fixed they charged him again for the repairs and they still came back above his ankles and would not refund him for the work or the value of the new pants.
