Best alteration shop in Sacramento!! I purchased a wedding dress in March 2024 for my elopement in May, not knowing that spring is a **very busy** time in Sacramento for custom alterations on wedding dresses. At a couture alteration shop, I was quoted about $1200 for custom alterations, and it was going to take a couple of months. I began to panic, not knowing if there would be enough time. At Alterations Plus, I spent about $500 for custom alterations (the dress was a size 8 and I am a size 2), and it took about 4 weeks. Natalia and her team had me try on the dress in the shop on the first day. I brought the shoes I was going to wear for the wedding with me and put them on. Natalya and Luda pinned the waist and hem. I came back about 2 weeks later and tried it on again. I had lost some weight, so they pinned it again and had to take in even more of the waist. They also double-checked to make sure it was the perfect length before re-attaching the hem lace. When I picked it up and tried it on for the last time about 4 weeks later, the dress fit exactly to my body. I know this was no easy task. The dress has multiple layers, the top being completely lace. The quality of the alterations was so precise, the dress looks like it was made just for me. The straps around the neck and shoulders are perfect, the waist smooth and feminine, and the hem and train stunning. With such an important event happening in my life, and the date coming up so quickly, I was so fortunate to have Natalia and her team available to help me. I remember at one point, I joked that it didn't have to be perfect. Natalia told me, "Oh yes it does! We will make it perfect for you!" ...And they did! I added a 40% tip, I was so stunned by their beautiful work. They even added a bustle! Now I go to this alteration shop for all my needs! They do a great job hemming jeans to make them look original. They can also hem and alter t-shirts so they fit your body better if you are small and petite like me. My deepest appreciation and gratitude to Natalia and the whole team at Alterations Plus. I was so impressed by your professionalism, excellent value, and quick turnaround. You really did save my life! The new owners are not as good. The prices are very high for a simple hem. Today, I put on a shirt that I had altered a few months ago. It had a ruffle around the sleeve. The sleeve was too long. I wanted it shortened and advised that I wanted to keep the ruffle. I just put the shirt on and they cut off the ruffle and hemmed the sleeve so now there is no ruffle. read more

CAUTION -- They do good work, but are disorganized. DO KNOW that if you lose their little pink slip, your clothes are gone for good. We've used this place many times, and finally it happened -- we lost the slip. Even though she puts your name and phone number on it and keeps a copy, she says she has absolutely NO way to find your clothes without the little number on the top right of the paper. If the wind snatches it from your hand, your clothes are gone for good. This may be an age of computers (they have none), but they're still in 1920. That's it. We're out a couple of hundred dollars of clothing because of that. Our fault for losing the paper, of course, but just be aware that you need to tape the slip to your forehead or your clothes are lost. read more

I came here after going to another tailor who argued with me about the alterations I wanted done, and then proceeded to want to charge me almost $200 cash, up front. It was just weird, so I took my dress and Yelped. Thank goodness! Fron the minute I walked in the store, I knew I had made the right decision. The store is small, but clean & bright. I saw many gala dresses waiting to be picked up, so I knew my dress with all the beads & extras was in the right place. Irina immediately pinpointed where my dress needed taking in (it was too big in several places due to weight loss), exactly where the other tailor said "It is is not necessary". She was gracioius with my frazzled energy (I was definitely on a roll), and made all the notes. I was able to pick up my dress two weeks later. Another nice lady was there when I picked up my dress. She said I could try it on at home, and bring it back if necessary. The fit was perfect, my only complaint is that the bra pads were not removed as we had discussed. This is a an easy fix for my mom though, and since we are in the midst of wedding prep for my daughter, there is not time to take it back. I am sure they would fix it though, going from the interactions I witnessed while there. I will add photos of the dress after the wedding. read more

I needed minor alterations to my crepe wedding dress - shorten a zipper and add a bustle. The alterations were fast and well-priced... but when I picked up my dress there were at least 10 visible dirt marks on the crepe skirt and train. I pointed them out and asked how they got there, and I was told to take my dress home, steam the marks, and brush them off. She said it would be perfect and her confidence made me feel like I couldn't question it. I did as she asked and it didn't help. I called to explain, she said to bring it back so she could ask the professional cleaners next door for advice, and when I came back after work she said I should have been there in the morning (this was not told to me ahead of time). She told me to come back the next morning. I returned the next morning and the woman who opened the shop didn't know what I was talking about. I took my dress to the cleaners and they quoted me $300 (2X my alteration cost). I took my dress back to alterations and the employee called the owner who told me to use cleaning wipes that the employee would give me. I was so over this whole process and taking time off work to go back and forth that I gave up, did my best with white soap and water, and asked my photographer to keep the marks in mind while editing. They remained but were diminished. I should have insisted on Alterations Plus paying for my wedding dress to be professionally cleaned. I will not be returning and will not be recommending them. read more

She made me into a beautiful princess and then even made a veil last minute for me! Pricing is EXTREMELY reasonable and the turn around time was a few weeks. She shortened the length and the bodice, added sleeves, added bustles for all three layers of the dress, and sewed in cups and Velcro as well to the dress and my bra to keep it up!!!
