We were left scrambling when Tesla notified us of our vehicle delivery much sooner than we anticipated. With the vehicle arriving in days, I needed to get a contractor to put in the Tesla wall charger ASAP. After searching the Tesla site and Yelp I ended up talking to 6-7 contractors. I was able to schedule a free estimate with both Robert and another contractor for today. Robert with Electric Chen was my 2nd estimate today so I was able to compare him to the previous contractor. I explained what I wanted to do with the install, which was what I told the previous contractor, and Robert asked if I would like his opinion. His recommendation totally made sense, and his solution saved me a significant amount of money. Since I had the charger already with me he offered to do the installation on-the-spot. Since his reviews on Yelp were very good and I had a good feeling about him I agreed to have him start the work immediately. 1.5 hours later the job was completed! So happy to have found him. I actually may have him comeback another time for some interior ceiling fans and exterior fixture installations! He actually had just finished another Tesla Wall Charger installation before me, and now was off to do another one! He apparently said that its most of his work recently! read more

I reached out to several companies to look into an electrician panel upgraded and potentially a rewiring job. Robert was the electrician we ended up selecting because his prices were reasonable and he fully explained the process and what he would have to do. PG&E was horribly slow to get us a reservation, but Robert kept us informed of any update and checked in to let us know he was still working on our behalf. Unfortunately, PG&E cancelled on us the day we had scheduled for the power to be cut off. Robert did some prep work and set up a new appointment. On our second try, PG&E showed up, cut the power, and Robert got to work. His prep work earlier paid off and he was able to get our panel installed quickly. Our power was turned back on the same day and we were only without it for about 4 hours. I look forward to working with Robert again on our next project! read more

I highly recommend calling Chen for your electric needs around the house. Service was excellent. They did the initial scoping (installing a Tesla wall charger) over text, provided an estimate (very reasonable cost wise) and came out the few days later to complete the installation. The wall charger experienced issues a day later, Chen came over and helped triage the issue. It was the wall charger! I will definitely reach back to Robert again if any electric project at our home in the future. Our home just had solar. There was a breaker trip issue caused by the main panel which is quite antique. We had to replace it to fix the issue. We also wanted to install EV charger and an additional power outlet. So we reached out to Robert. Our first meet went pretty well. He examined the issue, fixed it temporarily and offered us his honest suggestion. He recommended us to replace the panel no matter if we hire him or not. His personality gave us a natural trust. Nice, honest and humble. I trust Robert's craftsmanship. The old panel had many issues. One of the issues is the spaghetti wiring. With the new panel, it's well combed. Every line is nicely rearranged. I'm very happy about that. In terms of price, Robert is the only electrician I reached out so I don't have any comparison. Having said that, I feel the price is reasonable. I did talk with my friends who had worked with other electrician before. I was told the price was good. read more

Very professional service and a great value! Robert was very responsive, communicative, and informative from the start. Robert Chen just replaced my main electric panel after he, and PG&E, identified equipment failure and left me with power to only half my house. The way this worked was PG&E had to come out to disconnect my power, Robert then did the work of cutting my old panel out and replacing it with a brand new one, a city inspector came to approve the work, then PG&E came back to reconnect my power. Getting on PG&E's schedule took awhile but Robert told me what to expect every step of the way. He even installed a couple ground wires that were neessary to bring me up to current code and everything looks, and works, great now! I highly recommend him and already let him know I'll be calling on him for a few other projects! read more

I cannot speak highly enough of Robert Chen He arrived on time and went over what we wanted to be done. We wanted him to install a ring flood light. We had no power source where we wanted it installed so he had to get a power source for the flood light.
