Jamaica Agua fresca
Michelle E.

More like 3.5 stars. I've been going to El Torito for years and this location is the nearest to my house. A friend wanted lunch and while I wasn't really hungry, figured I'd get something to drink at least. I will say, I'm kind of annoyed they took the Mahi Mahi tacos off the happy hour menu and years ago took away the fish option for the Taco Tuesday bar. I wasn't in the mood for alcohol - but do like their Blackberry Cadillac Margaritas when I am - so I ordered the Jamaica agua fresca. It was pretty good. Contrary to the menu text, refills are free. Chips and salsa are always solid, and still complimentary, so that's a plus. I wasn't very hungry, so I ordered a side of sweet corn cake, which has always been one of my favorite things on the menu, and it was solid. Service was fine, although a bit slow and they brought us the wrong check at first. It's a big, airy restaurant, so most of the time you should have little trouble walking in. All in all, a solid California Mexican dining experience.

Had a date with my boyfriend here. The restaurant is pretty and spacious. There was only one server so it did take a little while for us to order but we can't complain our server was really kind & attentive when he would pass by. The drinks we got were yummy. I feel like the plates we both ordered were okay. We did get cute pictures from the photographer. The ambience was nice but I think next time we go just order something else :)

The El Torito AYCE Easter Brunch sounded like a great idea when we planned it. We attended the sunrise service at church so the timing for breakfast/early brunch at 8am was perfect. Although we were seated immediately when we arrived at 8:15am, it was obvious that they were not fully set-up. The cold seafood, soup, salad, dessert and breakfast were ready, but we weren't really interested in those. We waited for the carving section to be ready and the warm meat dishes to come out. The taco section took the longest, fully setting up almost at the end of our time there. Our server Jose was fantastic -- attentive and courteous. He came around often to refill drinks, clear dirty plates and ask how everything was going. The highlights for us were the tacos (al pastor and carnitas), tri-tip, birria, Chile Colorado, flan and plantains. We both loved the cilantro pepita sauce -- it was perfect on almost everything! A couple lowlights -- the churros were stale and although the tri-tip was flavorful it was a bit hard to eat since it wasn't cut against the grain. Needless to say, we were quite full when we were done. AYCE brunch happens every weekend. If we do return, we will reserve for mid-morning to avoid waiting for full-set-up. Parking is very easy in the large lot.

Papas rancheras

I ate here yesterday afternoon, the reservation was at 11 am. Mexican music plays through the speakers. Windows were a third of the size of the room I think. I ate a bunch of food. Papas rancheras were delicious because it was seasoned pretty well. I don't think I've had the machaca casera before yesterday. There are at least 7 TVs showing sports games. I loved the pozole which was at the soup station. You could add chili flakes to make it spicier or add onions or other toppings or ingredients. I got one taco from the taco station. The woman that worked there asked me what I wanted because I didn't tell her at first. I was deciding among chicken or carnitas or asada if I remember the options correctly. It was pretty good, I added cheese, onion, lettuce. The chicken was tender and juicy. The taco station was my favorite station. The waitress that served us was so attentive and polite. She asked us how we were doing every 10 or 15 minutes. She got us refills for our drinks, water and napkins.

El toritos is always amazing! Their happy hour menu, Never disappointed me not once! It's good that all of their locations are very consistent in service, food and drinks. I loved the layout at this location. They have outside seating as well if you would like to people watch. Their cantina is very spacious and intimate. Plenty of seating at the bar as well. I will forever love el toritos. If I'm around thjs location again, I will definitely come back during happy hour.

A Margarita flight

Came to El Torito in Northridge with a few friends for happy hour, and it ended up being a really good deal. The drinks were strong and tasty -- not watered down at all. Happy hour has good food and drink specials starting at $4, including draft beers, well drinks, and their signature margaritas. For food, there are options like $4 street corn and queso dip, up to about $8 for beef birria tacos and carne asada fries. I ordered a drink flight, carne asada fries, and a tamale and my total was around $47, which felt very reasonable for everything I got. The appetizers were inexpensive and hit the spot. Overall, the food was decent, but the real star here is the value during happy hour. If you're looking for a chill spot to grab affordable drinks and snacks with friends, the happy hour at this El Torito is definitely worth it.

Food is always decent here . They get substitutions right and i never have to send anything back . The shrimp bacon was a bit overdone and service can be sketchy they don't staff enough people . It's not the servers fault .

My mom got the iPhone 18 so why not snap a few pics, update the review and bless you with some nice new pics! First off, the parking still isn't great. It's a small parking lot located next to a building for lease and a liquor store. Two spots are dedicated to the liquor store, there's a handicap spot and probably 4-5 parks. It's usually full so you either have to park on Saticoy somewhere. Once you arrive you are greeted by some of the nicest waiters and waitresses in the valley. I think they are great and they are always so cheerful and happy to serve and help. As for the food, I went with the English Butty. My mom ordered the Black Forest Ham & Tillamook Cheddar Omelette, my son got the strawberry and blueberry pancakes and my dad ordered the Panwhich. A must order is still the lavender lemonade! Sooooo good!!! The food is still amazing and the portions are pretty big. The food usually comes with potatoes and a side of some green stuff. I'm not sure what it was but I killed it this time lol. Overall, Humble Bee is still a top location for some good, organic breakfast in the area and we will always be back for more! OOOOO 5 out of 5 Afros

I really appreciated that it was housemade instead of coming from a prepackaged bottle--it felt fresh and intentional. And DID THE JOB! For food, we ordered the Humble Bee Animal Style and the Farm Boy with turkey sausage. Everything was incredibly flavorful, fresh, and satisfying. And those pancakes... I'm still thinking about them! Just like my first time here; I was amazed at how delicious their pancakes truly are! Me and friends each other a breakfast entree and an extra pancake dish to share; I swear I was full for 2 days major carb overload. Will I do it again? YES! haha. the only downside is the fact that I have yet to try their soufflé pancakes due to their high demand they can take 45m-1hr to prepare! The place stays busy but we were sit quite fast; I want to say we waited 15-20 minutes.

Let me begin by saying that most of the food here is very, very, very well prepared and very, very,…read morevery good. What baffles me is the service. The last time I came here it was about five years ago, when it was still CiCi's. What I remember about that last time was how long it took us to get our food. I ordered steak and eggs, and when we asked when our food was coming, our waitress stared at me and said, "Well you ordered the steak . . . ". As if it was my fault that the food was taking a very long time. Regardless, when the food finally came, it was very good. However, the price point and the service was enough for me not to go back for a very long time. Until today. There are two seats on the very far left end of the bar that are lower than the regular bar seating. The hostess gave us menus promptly. There is a tall waitress working there who wears large glasses. Her hair was pulled back tightly. I'm not sure if she's is Asian or Hispanic. I'm not saying that to throw any shade at her ethnicity whatever it is I'm just saying that to try to describe who this person is. I have never in my life, been looked at so sourly and exasperatedly by a waitress as I have when this waitress saw my boyfriend and I sitting at the bar. No smile. Maybe she was upset because I had to flag her down because we had been sitting there waiting for someone to ask us if we wanted anything to drink. I asked for two coffees and two waters. She brought us the waters, and I never spoke to her again. Another waitress was kind enough to bring us our coffees after that. We waited a little while to order and yes, it was busy, but there were at least two or three people behind the bar at all times and I know they have other customers in the restaurant to serve so that doesn't bother me at all. So there was a third woman who took our order. We waited and waited and waited for our food. They did refill our coffee. After a while, I finally asked is our food coming? I was told let me go check by a fourth person. That fourth person returned and said that our food would be up soon. 10 minutes later I asked again if our food was coming. I understand certain things that take a long time like any of the pancake soufflés, but we did not order any soufflé pancakes. When I asked the second time when our food was coming, again, that person went to the kitchen to ask. When that person came back, they said oh it's not ready because you ordered the steak. The exact same thing they told me the last time we were here five years ago as to why our food was taking so long. I order my steak, medium rare every time it does not take that long to make a medium rare steak. Regardless, when I got my food, it was delicious. They forgot the side order of potatoes (because God forbid steak and eggs comes with potatoes) but I told them not to worry about it because I didn't wanna have to wait another 30 minutes to get them. My entree also came with a crêpe, and when they asked me what kind of crêpe I wanted, I asked for a Nutella crêpe. You know what they give you? A bone dry crêpe with whipped cream and a few drops of Nutella. I'm pretty sure that Nutella is supposed to go inside the crêpe not just a couple drops on top of it with a big giant dollop of whipped cream. And just because I feel like it, you know what's really low rent for a place with these prices? Tossing a to-go plastic disposable container of A1 on the plate with the steak and eggs. Seriously? You don't have a small little ceramic ramekin that you could at least put the A1in? I feel like that was put there just to fill up the plate because they don't give you any potatoes. Kind of a classless move. So like I said before, the food was very good and I'm sure it always will be. But when the waitress looks at you like you ruined her day, it reminds me why I haven't come back for years. Then when I really WANT to support that local business again, history of repeats itself. I don't like being blamed for my food taking forever because it's what I ordered. That is completely ridiculous and not the customers fault. So just be prepared for dirty looks and even if it's not that busy you're still gonna wait a long time for your food and maybe it'll be worth it but that's up to you.

The bread was slightly on the darker side but it didn't detract from the overall experience one bit -- every bite was rich, creamy, and satisfying. Since I heard so much about this place, we both wanted to give this lovely, cute, cozy, quaint restaurant a try. I am glad that we did. It had some nice decor all around including their gender neutral restroom. We were nicely welcomed by Myra with a pretty smile & she gave us an option to sit inside or outside. Most of them spell it as Melissa. She was a very pleasant young lady and had a good attitude. Also very helpful. She checked on us a few times during our visit. We ordered few things from their extensive menu options. Neither one of us had tried Chilaquiles. I guess there is a 1st time for everything. We asked for the green sauce instead of red. Less spicy. We also ordered their Victory Sandwich that came with: two scrambled eggs, avocado, goat cheese, tomato, and hash brown on a nice toasted wheat bun. We were very hungry as you can tell:-))) Last but not least, we got their Avocado Toast nicely toasted on Sourdough bread, two poached eggs, avocado spread, Arugula salad, & micro greens (garnished with red radish).
