We ordered dinner to-go. They have all the safety precautions in place, including hand sanitizer, one way entrance and exit, the staff wore masks and gloves. We ordered the combo platter, which is one of their seasonal specials, and it consisted of the mole verde chicken enchilada and sirloin & crispy cheese taco served with black beans and roasted corn white rice. I'm not a fan of mole but the mole verse was quite nice. It tasted more like a mild salsa. The enchilada was good too, the chicken was nice and tender. I loved the sirloin taco. The meat was really nice. The taco shell got pretty soggy though because it was packed with the enchilada. We also got the macho combo, which has a fire-roasted pasilla chile relleno, a chicken and sour cream enchilada, a beef barbacoa crispy taco and a hand-made chicken tamale. On the side were refried beans and rice. Every item was pretty good. I loved the chile relleno and barbacoa taco. While the food was delicious, I had to use some hot sauce to elevate the flavors a little. I'll definitely come back, especially once things open up. I wish it was fried in oil since it becomes dry otherwise. Cons: carne asada is dry. Carnitas are too salty. No chef's special dish unless the soup counted. Cheese enchiladas are nothing compared to a traditional Mexican restaurant. No sweet corn cake. No flan. No chocolate cake. Brownies and the chef's special dessert which is probably the arroz con leche. I prefer my arroz con leche warm but it was still tasty cold/room temp. Chicken, rice, beans was tasty. I would be disappointed if they managed to mess it up. All the fixings are available for a DIY taco salad. read more

I have been coming to El Torito for over 10 years and loved coming for Taco Tuesday. I came today, on a Tuesday, to find out they are still serving Taco Tuesday. Our server, Maria Elena, explained the process and was great. She always had our drinks filled and made sure we had everything. Now, back to the the Taco Tuesday process. You order how many tacos you want with the server and go up to the patio and give the lady your ticket. You tell her what kind of meat you would like and which toppings. Usually you would serve the toppings yourself, but due to COVID, you can no longer do that, so they do it for you. Chips and salsa are always fantastic. I did give one less star as the price for Taco Tuesday is pretty pricey. When I first started coming here, Taco Tuesday was $1 a taco, now it is $2.99. I went to the El Torito's in Milpitas for lunch on Friday to use the 25% off special. I had planned on getting a combo meal from the menu but saw the sign over the front door for the lunch buffet and went with that instead. Before I get to the food, this place needs a serious makeover especially for the chairs. The chair I sat in should have been replaced years ago as the top cover over the cushion was completely worn away as wwere several other chairs near by. There was a fold-up extention o the table that was not level with the main part of the table. As for the buffet it was probably the worst one I have gotten food from. All of the items were not even warm and some looked like they had been sitting out for awhile. As for the selections there was chicken, beef, rice, beans and a few other items that lack an enjoyable taste. As for the set up it was not pleasing to look at. Besides the poor buffet I had a glass of ice tea, which was the only good item I had. I ended up paying $22.01 for this meal, which was not worth it. I could have gotten a more enjoyable meal at Taco Bell. I have thought about going to the Sunday Brunch but after my experience today I do not see that happening any time soon. If Robert Irvine from "Restaurant Impossible" on The Food Network were to visit this place, he would probably spit the food out when sampling it. If someone at the El Torito main office were to read this I suggest you visit this location and see how poorly our product is being presented. read more

As soon as we got here they took forever to seat us and get our food to us which we understood because they were busy. When I ordered I told our waitress (the lady with red hair) to please remove any cheese or sour cream because I'm lactose intolorent. She said of course and when she came back with our food my order had cheese and when we told her she said, "y que quieres aser, asi viene revuelto", "what do you want to do? It's mixed like that". She was rude and if that was the case she could had just told me she couldn't remove dairy from the plate I ordered. She didn't even apologize which is fine but she really couldn't care less lol. She did remove my order from our bill so thanks for that. The people I came with said their food was ok, but personally we won't come back. On that note, I now have the pleasure of enjoying a meal at the calaveras location with my own family. My husband and I were there for a late lunch about 2 weekends ago. It was a Saturday. The way they have handled the restrictions due to the pandemic is excellent. Their outdoor seating are is well spaced, adhering to the social distance protocols. All safety protocols were in place. KATIA, our server that day was EXCELLENT. She took care of us well and had a pleasant table side manner. Part way through our meal, we hadn't noticed that our drink order was not correct. Sandy not only was professional but she was fast and friendly and had one of the best customer service I have experienced. My family and I did the buffet and unlimited bottomless mimosas and she was very attentive whenever our glass was empty and filled it up immediately. We had reserved a table for a party of three at 9:45 AM. We arrived at 9:40 AM and the lady asked us to wait for the table to be ready. This was frustrating because we had made the reservation online through "Open Table" and had already filled out a form, including choosing the seat type. I had selected the standard type since we had a kid with us. However, when we got our table at 9:50 AM, it was in the bar area. When we asked for a standard table, the lady didn't even know that there was a choice option and considered it as a special request. After showing our booking confirmation, she asked us to wait another 15 minutes to get a standard table. So, even though our reservation was for 9:45 AM, we didn't get our table until 10:20 AM.
