Their salsas and ceviche salsa was perfectly balanced with flavor and spice. They have all of the good Mexican breakfast and brunch dishes. The management and support staff here do an excellent job, and are very attentive to provide outstanding customer service. Our experience was awful. We arrived and got sat at 2:15 on the patio for food and drinks. Ordered a round of drinks and two appetizers. Then we saw our server for the last time at 2:52. Somehow our server became the sole bartender and she just completely stopped serving us. We tried asking other servers for help but we were rudley to to go see her. All the other tables around us were getting service but us. By 3:50 we got up, and closed out. This place had no interest is providing any service to us. Very disappointing and we will not be back. I asked if I can place an order to-go and she said "We only have that during happy hours from 3:00-10:00pm. We do not do to-go orders for ceviche." I then asked her "what if I come 5 minutes before closing- will your kitchen still be open?" Her response was "Yes. As long as you get here in 10 minutes we can make it for you." We have been to El Torito multiple times with our friends on weekends when it's much busier and it was a wonderful experience. The service and food was great. Although, we went there yesterday which was a Tuesday (not as busy) for my cousin's birthday and it was her first time there. The service was horrible and the server didn't respond properly to our requests. He didn't come by to check on us or clear the dishes. We had to get up to go ask other servers if we wanted something. Came here for a birthday celebration but was extremely disappointed. Rude server and glacially slow service. Not sure if we ever want to come back again. The evening started off with our reservation missing. It would've been an hour long wait but the manager was able to get us a table at the happy hour section. I know COVID is almost over but oh my the happy hour section is jam packed and zero distancing at all. Our server seems great at first, and brought us chips and salsa, but when we told her we're here for birthday dinner and not for drinks she suddenly turned cold for no apparent reason, and every question about the menu seemed to annoy her. Anyways we ordered food and it took forever to arrive, and we were starving and just surviving on dry chips waiting for the elusive salsa despite multiple requests for it to be refilled. It's probably an hour later when the food finally arrived, I had the daily specials all you can eat taco and since I was starving I finished them in no time and asked for seconds. I was shocked when the server looked and me and said "oh you're not supposed to share the dish with all you can eat...". Excuse me? I was starving due to the horribly slow service, and instead of an apology and trying to get things right you falsely accused me of sharing a dish?! Just unbelievable! I had good service and bad service, but never had I had service that pissed me off like that. Needless to say the second round took another 30 minutes to arrive, which by the time my partner has long finished her dish. The server just throw the dish on the table with a clang and walk away without bothering to act like she cared. I mean sure it's a busy night I get that, but she has the time to chit chat with other customers and coworkers, and with us just cold and rude service like that? I had to constantly get other servers' attention for refills/checking on food, they at least acted they care and apologized for the slow service, but I only get the cold shoulder and false accusations with my assigned server. Being a regular here has its perks. The waiter gives you that knowing look and tells you your regular drink. I blush as I say this because I was not a social margarita drinker until come late. El Torito makes the right kind of margaritas for $5 on Wednesday's happy hour. Paired with their on the house nachos and dips... you cant go wrong. We also enjoy their zucchini fried topped with mango salsa and their sliders are the bomb with a lingering but gentle kick. Can't go wrong with classic Mexican food with friendly servers and yummy food! I came here for lunch with coworkers and ordered the chicken street taco dish. This came with three chicken tacos, rice, and beans. The tacos were so good, so fresh and good quality, I basically devoured them. The plate was the perfect size, big enough to keep me full for 3-4 hours, but small enough that I was able to finish the whole meal in the restaurant. The atmosphere at El Torito is very lively and very fun. Like most Mexican restaurants, they provide free chips and salsa which is always my weakness. I almost always fill up on chips and salsa before the food comes because the chips and are so addicting and delicious. El Torito also has a buffet and also serves a variety of fun margarita drinks of all sizes and strengths. Some of the people in my group had margaritas and they said they were strong but good! I will have to try some the next time I don't have to go back to work right after. The restaurant has a big parking lot because it is located in the big Milpitas Town Center Plaza. I absolutely love this location, their food is always consistent and fairly priced for the quantity that you get. Their chips and salsa are decent for a table starter, but I find the salsa itself to be very watery and spice free. I have tried quite a few of their regular menu items, but always return for their flautas as they are both flavorful and filling. When I am able to, I enjoy dining during their happy hour, they offer drink specials but I enjoy trying their food options because even though they are smaller quantities, it gives you an opportunity to try a few items for the price of one regular meal. read more

Visited today 3/31/2021. What an awful experience. My husband and I were looking forward to their happy hour. We asked to sit at the bar island because we were hungry and usually get faster service when the waiter is literally In front of you. Boy we're we wrong. It was a single bartender (Benjamin) handling the entire restaurant's drinks during happy hours. Needles to say never once checked on us. We LITERALLY had to waive him down for every single Item starting from a glass of water all the way to the asking for the check. I don't entirely blame him for the TERRIBLE service because they should have two bartenders working the restaurant. Got a craving for fajitas so glad I was able to go to this place for their outdoor dining. We (husband, self and daughter) went for dinner on Tuesday evening and even though it was later in the evening (close to 8pm) we had to wait one hour to be seated. It seems the wait was due to low staffing because all of the tables set up outside in their parking lot were open. What's the point of having additional outdoor seating if they are not going to use it?? There were other patrons in the restaurant but it wasn't crowded, there was plenty of distance. Our waitress was friendly and did come to check on us a few times. Our wait for the food was a little bit longer than usual as well but tasted good.
