We would go here every Tuesday. But now that they charge for chips (even refills) our party of weekly 8, no longer go. Stop charging for chips!!! I know you will comment that you provide free fresh tortillas, but only when they bring them! We would rather have chips and keep your tortillas and maybe we will return! Went for dinner and everything was fantastic! Right as I walked in i was greeted by the hostess who was very sweet. I was taken to my table and waited for my friends. Even though I was waiting Joan my server came to me quickly to ask if I needed anything. My friends and I commented how the service was great as well as the food. We had stopped coming years ago due to poor service and food. This was our second time back in a month and the service and food continues to be spot on. We came here on a Thursday evening. The service was just ok. Considering all the "good" reviews the food was not what we expected. We got the shrimp diabla and one steak taco with fries from the kids' menu. I was very disappointed with the shrimp diabla. The veggies were overcooked, the rice lacked flavor, the sweet corn cake was very hard and I had a hard time eating the shrimp. The steak taco did not look appetizing nor did it taste good. Wow, I've been coming here for years and I'm not sure what happened the last few months. They have really gone down hill with service. It took 30 minutes for our drink order to arrive (no alcohol), it took another 30 minutes to get kids meal menus, and another 45 minutes to take our order. Our one waitress for our large party was hardly ever coming to check on us. We all kept looking around for someone to come help. The food took forever to come to the table and she wasn't bringing what we asked unless we asked more than once. The restaurant was empty! There were only 2 other parties in there at the time and they were very small (3-4 ppl). That was the worst service I have ever received. It's sad because we always visit el torito and now we won't be going back :( Please do better. The gratuity and all the added fees for service that bad is not ok. read more

Always a safe place to have a yummy dinner with fun drinks. I absolutely love their chile rellenos so I had to have them tonight and my hubby had the shrimp enchiladas. My go to drink is always a Black Diamond We sat in the bar as usual but tonight we waited forever for chips and salsa. In fact, we got flour tortillas for the Flaming Queso Fundido way before anything else and still no chips. Maybe just an off night for service. Speaking of Flaming Queso Fundido, we've only had it "flaming" just once out of the countless times we've ordered it...odd. i hate giving such bad reviews. but, i feel that this needs to be said. the food is bland, flavorless, unappetizing and overpriced. despite the vibrant colors, the most flavorful part of my meal was the beans. I got the three item combo with the chicken enchilada, chicken tamale, and chicken taquitos. only the chicken enchilada was edible. everything else genuinely tastes like nothing it was just so bland. to top it off, i had a reservation at 5 pm. we were not seated until 6 pm. it was father's day, so that's likely why. but, management needs to cap off how many reservations they'll take. there was a giant line of people waiting to be seated, some were forced outside into the blazing hot heat. i only feel sorry for those who only had this moment to celebrate father's day. i will no longer be returning to this establishment. there are much tastier, cheaper, and hospitable local businesses nearby that actually deserve my business. read more

I was going back and forth on writing a review for El Torito because I might lose credibility for dining at a place like this, but I decided to write one anyway in hopes that this review might help my fellow keto'ers/low carb diners. My wife and I really didn't expect anything at all, but when we did a quick tour of the place while waiting to be sat, it all looked very promising. El Torito was VERY hit or miss. Nothing was in between. It was either bland and not very fresh, or it was good and worthy enough of getting more each time you got a new plate. Hits: Chile Colorado, Chile Verde, Agua Chile, Machaca & Eggs. All items were either tender or flavorful, or both. Misses: Seafood Soup (bland), Boiled Shrimp (super overcooked), Beef Birria (dry), taco meats (basically steamed), Tri-tip (exceedingly well-done aka congratulations), menudo & pozole (bland and bland) For around $38 a person, this was pretty steep for mediocre food ($95 w/ tax and tip). Service was pretty much non-existent as well. We never got offered mimosas and our water didn't get refilled either. I get it though, it's them versus a horde of Sunday brunchers and they're spread thin. And it's El Torito, man. Who comes here for award winning service and top notch food? They also tack on a sneaky little surcharge on your bill as well. Not sure if this is a percentage or a flat rate per person, but I asked our server to remove it to which they did. I also asked if he or the staff gets a cut of the surcharge to which he said no. Pretty sure that stuff has to be written down some place to let customers know ahead of time, but come July that cost will be baked into the cost of the food anyway. Just a heads up for now. Would I come back? Ehhh, probably not. I can't believe I used to clown on people for coming here and I ended up coming here today. Never say never I guess. read more

Came here for the Sunday brunch buffet and it did not disappoint. First, I cannot stress how good the service was. We were sat next to the bar and our server was fantastic, he was so nice, checked on us often and the drinks came out quickly. I enjoyed where we were sat, it was calm and relaxed, not loud at all. The food is fantastic. The chile Colorado was so freaking good!! The tacos... my god. Fresh made tortillas right in front of you, and they add large portions of meat. The red salsa was delicious. The ceviche was so fresh and good. The huevos rancheros were also my favorite. The desserts were not good at all if I'm being honest; the churros were stale and the icing on the carrot cake had the consistency of lard. But honestly that doesn't matter, I didn't come for the desserts! This is top tier Mexican food and I cannot wait to go back. read more

Awesome happy hour prices and it's so nice they have happy hour daily from 3pm-8pm! The food was delicious! They bring you fresh home made tortillas when you sit and a sweet butter - HEAVEN! It really sets the mood and tone for the whole evening experience when you walk in and see fresh tortillas being made when you step foot in the door. The chips and salsa is always a fan favorite. I loved both my happy hour mojitos, the blackberry was my favorite I could have had 5 more. So refreshing and tasty. The calamari was fried well and tasted good (not rubbery or over cooked) and I personally loved the pepper jelly sauce but it's an acquired taste. My husband didn't care for it but he doesn't like pepper jelly so it's definitely different from a normal calamari experience. The al pastor tacos were so flavorful and I loved that they put a whole thin slice of pineapple in it so every bite had pineapple.
