Sure you can drink at home, drink on a plane or drink while you drive but sometimes you just want a change of scenery. However, you don't always want to feel like you're trying too hard to change your scenery, bumping you too far out of your comfort zone. The answer my friends, is the good old classic American dive bar. Now, many places like to call themselves a dive bar just because they never clean a single inch of their establishment and have seedy patrons that love to play the more than occasional 80's songs on the jukebox but don't be mistaken, a good dive bar is hard to find. Well, I happen to have found one and it's in Fullerton of all places. That's right, Fullerton, not Los Angeles, nor Hollywood nor some pop-culturally over-hyped city. What makes The Blue Door a good dive bar? First, there's earned consistency & routine. The drinks won't always be made well, or the bartender won't always be attentive but if you come a few times, you'll soon know at what time and day the drinks are made properly by knowing the schedules of the bartenders. Secondly, the drinks are stiff, the service is friendly and nobody bothers you unless you bother them. The atmosphere goes from lively and loud to quiet and solitary, again depending upon when you visit. Lastly, they're open from 6:00AM-2:00AM. They're not just there when the hipsters are around, they're there for you whenever you make the bad decision of using alcohol as an anesthetic. KILLER dive bar. Everything you want in a bartender and more. Served by Becky today and she was as pleasant and welcoming as a bartender could be. Decent prices, cheap but good bar snacks, pool, darts, jukebox, and fun, all found here. The 6am opening time doesn't hurt either. I'll be stopping by every time I pass through this town. read more

Stopped by late Christmas afternoon with some friends and family. What a great dive bar, the outside looks like a trashcan, the inside is reasonably clean, and the patrons and bartenders are great. They have a few fried foods on the menu, which is awesome, and a reasonable selection of drinks, would definitely come back. Also veteran owned, awesome local bar. read more

Very fun bar!! The tables are in great condition!! They are diamonds! Also love all the dart games. The prices are good and the drinks are definitely strong! Definitely super hot in there for how small it is, but they always keep the door open, letting it in the fresh air as well as having fans blowing which helped it so much! The bartenders are super friendly. They always go out of the away to talk to you even if it's really quickly while you ordered your drink. I will say, every single time I have been there, I seen at least one fight somewhere so keep that in mind, you might have to move out of the way but hey nothing abnormal for a dive bar with cheap drinks ! 10/10 read more

it's so cool there the pool tables are very nice the bartenders are very professional and nice and they take good care of the ppl they serve. The owner is super cool and funny and he is there a lot of times and always takes care of his customers in a friendly manner and the drink selection is amazing and gives good servings for drinks and the pretzels are very yummy. The bar is great to chill w your buds and just have a good time and it is very nice. 5 stars will come again and I recommend this to everybody because it's so amazingly amazing. read more

The blue door is the best bar in town. All of the bar tenders are amazing to say the least. The beers are always chilled to perfection and the cocktails will not let you down. Well, this is a very disappointing situation- the owner has chosen to ignore my review on Google and not even make things right. ANOTHER reason of why I WILL NOT be going back to this bar. So, here we are.....I also have went through most of the reviews, and it all makes sense now. Alright, where should I start? Thursday's (6/5/25-6/6/25)experiences needs a serious review... Let's make this very clear I would give ZERO stars. However, I would give 5stars to the bartender. She managed everything like a pro, her level of patience and tolerance for dealing with inappropriate behavior and individuals. She was incredibly kind, provided outstanding service, and even went out of her way to return the extra cash I had accidentally left behind. I ended up telling her to keep it as a gesture of appreciation for her honesty something you don't often see with many bartenders! Clear she took pleasure in her work, with care and efficiency without taking too much time. More bartenders like her are needed in bars. This was my first visit to the bar, and I can say with certainty that I won't be returning. I visited this bar for a first date, as it was a fair midway point between us, and it had received quite good reviews. There are some poor ones, but never judgment. It goes without saying that this is a NEGATIVE review, from the behavior of the so-called "frequent flyers," as others around me referred to them. The first incident that caught my attention was when a man approached the bartender, asking for the owner's #because he claimed he hadn't consumed all those drinks. I was present and had noticed the previous bartender pouring roughly the same #of drinks he was denying. The bartender said, she can't give out his # but you're welcome to look up our bar's #online and call him tomorrow. Then, a guy came along and said, Here's his number, just text him. I'm not aware of any bar in my area that freely gives out the owner's #, especially so late at night. A cause for disaster. This bar could really use a bar rescue... or perhaps the owner needs it. My date arrived, we ordered another drink, and wrapped things up. At 1:30 am, the bartender announced "last call." She then moved around the bar, serving their final drinks and closing out tabs.. We were getting ready to leave when, at 1:50 a.m., a guy approached to ask for a drink, and she said sorry I stopped serving a few minutes ago. She then announced to everyone, thanking them and It's 150. You have 8 more minutes to finish your drinks. See you all tomorrow. Certainly expressed better than many who turn bitter and consumed by rage. Everyone was wrapping things up. As we stepped outside, we could hear a man shouting at the bartender from our car. The bartender then yells, GET OUT, no drinking allowed after two. It's 2:02! She had calmly informed everyone three to four times that there would be no more drinks as it was past 1:58, yet the man kept shouting at her. He insulted her with derogatory names, at one point referring to her as the C word and the B word, belittled her, claimed she was insignificant, and hurled every offensive term imaginable at her. That's when you notice others stepping in to support her and trying to lead him out. Meanwhile, the man refuses to leave and continues shouting at the bartender. At one point, he shouts, You have no right to tell me to leave. I go whenever I choose. Wow, I was truly astonished when I heard that. He then shouts, "I'm calling James." But who is James?! At this moment, I assume he must be the owner. My date inquired and, sure enough, the so-called mystery man named James turned out to be the owner. This man would not stop yelling at the bartender, insulting her, challenging her to a one-on-one fight, and belittling her by saying she was a nobody and couldn't do anything to him. It completely shocked me! What surprised my date and me even further was hearing some regular attendees mention that these individuals always behave this way. I truly couldn't believe what was occurring. Such a tense and unfriendly atmosphere to endure. The petite and stout bartender shouldn't have to handle such altercations or deal with intoxicated individuals. However, she did handle it at her best, better than most, definitely better than I have ever handled things in my past of being behind a bar. I can already picture what it's like on a weekend night. read more

Went last night for the first time to the Blue Door Bar I live blocks away from this place and I've always wanted to try it! The bartenders were nice and friendly yes, friendly, Jennifer and Bri! Lots of pool tables the dart machines were very popular. Pretty big with lots of tables. The music was very good. Nice friendly people everywhere very nice dive bar. I felt comfortable enough to go back even by myself next time. I'm hoping this can be my new watering hole being so close to home it would be nice. read more

This is dive bar with a bit of better ambiance, although it was a tad dark, but that is kinda on par for a dive bar. The bartenders were birth awesome, super friendly and quick as can be. I really enjoyed myself. Melody is an angel. I will be back soon I hope. read more

First time here...it's a mix of old bar flies and young college kids. Pros: -It has a pretty cool vibe. -The pool tables and dart boards are entertaining. -Busy dive bar -Cheap drinks -Lots of parking Cons -One bartender -One long slow line for drinks -It took 20mins for the first drink -10 mins to close out -One person bathroom You need another bartender and lose that stupid line... buzz kill!!! read more

I have always been a fan of dive bars. A place where everyone is welcomed and comfort is a must. T-shirt, shorts and flip flops Is what I call my uniform. After serving in the US Army, I had a chance to run my own dive bar. The Blue Door is my vision of the classic dive bar. I welcome you to stop by to say Hi and grab a beer. Play some darts, shoot some pool and play your favorite music on our internet jukebox. This is a place that you can relax by yourself or with a group.

The first time, I came for the Monday night burger and beer special for $10.95 after 4pm. The burger was very good with a nice sized patty, cheese, lettuce, tomato, and pickles on a wheat bun. The beer pour isn't just a glass, it's larger-sized schooner. Specialty beers on tap are an extra $2. The burger doesn't come with a side, but a tasty burger and a large beer for under $11 is a great deal. The following week, I came back for the Tuesday night BBQ special. Their BBQ chicken and ribs dinners are 30% off, and come with two sides and a fresh dinner roll. I got the full slab of ribs which was only $21 after discount. They definitely do not skimp on the ribs, as the plate came with two large half slabs stacked on top of each other. The ribs were cooked well, and the BBQ sauce had a good mix of tang and sweetness. I had coleslaw and fries for my sides. The other options for sides are Beckett's beans, potato salad, macaroni salad, and pasta salad. A half slab and the fries filled me up, and I took the other half and the coleslaw home. This is also a great deal for only $21. Other special days include Wednesday $3.50 schooner night from 5pm to 7pm, Friday night $10.95 fish taco plate, and Saturday and Sunday breakfast specials from 10am to noon. They have a pool table, darts, and many TVs with various sports playing. Service was timely and friendly.

They are connected to the barbecue joint next-door. Same owner so if you're looking for food while they may not serve it, their menu is also at the bar where you can order from and they'll bring it over to you. Always a nice atmosphere in there. Drinks come out cold. Every time I've been in we've had excellent bartenders that take care of you. Definitely a nice one to have in your back pocket in the neighborhood. If you haven't given it a try make sure to stop in.

The cheese quesadilla with chicken I can't even describe how amazing it taste. The mozzy sticks have serious cheese pull! I recently had the philly sandwich and I can't wait to have it again. He ended up feeling bad because I cried because I'm sensitive lol and gave me a new white claw but that whole thing was just uncalled for and crazy - a simple "hey you can't have that outside either throw it away or come back in" would have done fine. THEN, and yall; I was a little lit but not drunk drunk, I was talking to the bar tender we were chopping it up and having a good talk then this girl who I said I hi to thought I was hitting on her and I told her I was married to a man and then I asked her "did you think I was hitting on you" she dismissed me but then apparently she told the bar tender that I did something because I was ASKED TO LEAVE - I have never in my life written a review for anywhere and I also have never EVER been escorted out of a bar at all let alone for no valid reason. I wish it went better because love dancing and it's a place to dance near my house but i definitely will never be back and would NOT reccomend this bar to anyone ever.

It was a Thursday when I walked in, and they had karaoke! The bartender Britlyn was singing and she has the voice of an American idol superstar! She would have gave Kelly Clarkson a run for her money! She was singing, taking care of all of her customers and closing out tabs all at once! This place has two pool tables, and is a beer and seltzer place only. They sell chips if you want something to snack on. Everyone at that bar was just good vibes.
