This review is not for how the food tastes but we have been waiting 30 minutes for an order of migas and a carnitas taco. This is ridiculous to wait this long and when we asked we were told people ordered enchiladas and they take longer so they are prepared them first! Just a little frustrating of the experience. The Round Rock location moves way faster. UPDATE: They made my food wrong... awesome read more

By far the best quality to price ratio. The tacos are inexpensive, and the meat is stellar quality. The carnitas are fresh and delicious, and the al pastor is the best I've ever had. I love the salsa bar as well. My only complaint is that the wait time can be a bit long - but it's worth it since they're making everything fresh. read more

The most authentic Mexican tacos you will try in Austin!! And best drinks as well. For sure try the Bistek with Avocado and Fresh Cheese!!!! #tacos #authentic read more

Super good. I kept passing this place up and so glad I gave it a chance. Amazing service, worth the wait, and the cooks back there make great food :) read more

Best tacos in Austin. Don't waste your time on fancy nouveau places. This place is the real deal. Their pollo asada, carnitas, and carne asada are tender meats and plenty of it in each taco. Just the right amounts of pineapple cilantro and onion made for a party in my mouth. The flautas were delicious and light. The Barbacoa was a bit greasy. read more

Exciting update -- El Taquito now serves breakfast before 11:30 am, and what I think are probably the best migas con chorizo in town. Very excellent. read more

I had lunch here with my coworker last week and we both ordered flautas. The food was really good but the service was not so good. Our food took a long time to come out and we had to eat fast because our lunch hour was almost over. Otherwise it was good. read more

It's cheap, open late, and delicious! You'll never want to go to Taco Bell or Taco Bueno again. It's the same price but WAY better! I feel like it really tastes like authentic Mexican food. The meat is super flavorful! My favorite is the barbacoa taco! read more

Three locations, especially like the one around the corner from my house. Although that one closes at 3. Anyway, great interior mex food. Love the tripita tacos. Also awesome carnitas. read more

I grew up on the border of Mexico, and I LOOVE mexican food. This is one of the rare places that actually satisfies my mexican hunger. I highly recommend the al pastor WITH PINEAPPLE and the drinks (aguas frescas / juego de melon). This is a MUST visit while in Austin. Also a huge plus that they're open late. read more

The food was okay, but the salsa & fix-ins bar is what really dazzled me. Granted, you cannot be too picky when you're paying a few bucks. I got the chicken platter, and while the flavor was awesome, the chicken was definitely not the best quality. I think next time I may choose to go for something veggie. The beans were awesome, and everything else coming out looked great. The nachos are MASSIVE. The wait is not the best, but I mean... there's a few people running an entire kitchen of homemade food. I also wish that the patrons were a little less messy, granted there's a ton of kids running around and licking their fingers after touching the salsa spoons, but keep your kids from throwing food all over the floor. I ignored the mess that was everywhere, and there was someone sweeping, attempting to keep it clean, so I was not too worried. read more

what a dope taco joint. lemme just say, u better appreciate authentic tacos mane. This ain't your chipotle/americanized tacos. and the salsas.. das it mane read more

You will definitely have to wait a while to get your food, but if you are not in a rush this is not a bad place to go. The steak and barbacoa are extremely solid. i can easily see why some people put this in their top 5, but the steak was a little to tough for me. read more

Great interior Mexican food. Good horchata. Needs more seating.

The al pastor plate is good. Not so much the chicken.

Nothing outstanding. A bit overpriced. Salsa were okay. Bathrooms were okay. Parking was okay. Probably wont be back simply because there are so many better options. read more

My friends and I stopped here for lunch. There were a bunch of big TVs displaying the menu above the cashiers, but they didn't feature prices, which was kind of annoying because it made it more difficult deciding what I wanted to eat. This restaurant also had one of those "no person" cashier registers where you just select what you want to eat from the screen. However, the electronic system was a little confusing because it would ask you to select a protein twice -- once just to choose the insides but then again for a charge (extra meat perhaps)? My friend had a little trouble figuring it out, but we got it to work in the end. The meal was big and very filling. The salad that came with my enchilada plate was just lettuce with a partial piece of tomato on top, so that was kind of boring, but everything else was tasty. Overall, not a bad place to stop for lunch, although I think I would want to try other restaurants in the area in the future. read more

Small portions of not good quality meat. The roasted salsa tasted stale if not expired. Received my order and it was incorrect and instead of letting me eat the correct part they took everything away and held the tacos while making 2 more so my food ended up being cold. Employees had a terrible attitude, I was very nice when I told them my order was incorrect and ended up getting mean looks and cold food. read more

LEGIT!!! Reminds me of the tacos I had in REAL mexico (not the border towns) and central america. If you get the special, with the six little taco's, thats how its done. Real fresh cheese, homemade tortillas, excellent ingredients and spicy sauce! Prices are excellent and Telemundo is always playing on the tube! Doesn't have all the pizzaz like Torchy's, but these tacos are AUTHENTIC and really, really good at half the price of a Torchy's taco! read more

Food I good but service is slow. Nice atmosphere and a killer patio.

The pastor was a bit dry, but it seems like this was an exception rather than the rule. The staff was very friendly and the food was made to order. read more

Found this gem through the wonders of Yelp when looking for a place to grab food before a show at Emo's. The cashier was very helpful at explaining their vegetarian options to me and answering my questions. I do wish they had a few more to choose from hence the 4 stars. Salsa selection and quality are top notch. I ordered the cheese enchiladas with crema sauce (think sour cream and some spices) which put me into dairy heaven. Queso dip was in my top 5 as well. I'm excited to try some of their different enchilada sauces. read more

We recently moved to the area from out of state, and were looking for a great local spot. I'm not sure it will be here. I guess we need to brush up on some Spanish, because there was a huge language barrier here. The girl at the register could barely speak English and everything on the menu was in Spanish. I know that's what "authentic" means, but at least have someone that can speak more English at the counter!? We got the posole and enchiladas, it was okay. The tables were dirty, there was a substantial wait, and with the uncomfortable experience we had, we won't be giving it another try. :( read more

The lady at checkout was trying her best but it was surprising when she couldn't grasp slight changes to a regular order. Furthermore, their salsa bar looked good but I could tell by the rumbling in my stomach later that night that their veggies/herbs were either SPOILED or NOT FRESH, willing to give it another shot but not a good first impression at all read more

I love this place. I usually get the order of corn taquitos and queso flameado con chorizo. Yum..

I have been back 3x just for the cucumber salad. I adore this place! I love the salsas and the rice milk drink.

Fantastic!! Great traditional FRESH food in a great environment. After having endless overlooked cheese to the max TEXMEX this place was a very welcomed change!! Highly recommended read more

One word........LEGIT. You know you're in for some good Mexican food when every employee at the restaurant speaks only Spanish. The only downside is the service. They take a really long time to prepare your meal. But, the food and their salsa bar makes up for it. If you're looking for some authentic Mexican food minus the glitz and glamour, you've found your spot. read more

Really authentic and full flavored tacos, fast service, cheap price, and open late night. What more can you ask for? Owner was also very pleasant, and staff taking orders at the counter were helpful. Sauces/condiments bar was a nice plus. read more

This place is good and cheap. The staff is fun. Its not one for being clean. The meat was a little dry.

First time trying these tacos and they are amazing. I tried the barbacoa and al pastor, and both had so much flavor and the salsa bar was great also. Can't wait to eat here again. read more

Really good tacos (al pastor) Way too long of a wait though...seemed like I was waiting forever for my food. UPDATE - went back for breakfast tacos and they were AWESOME!!! The tortillas were like nothing I've ever had - very crispy and almost fried dough like. read more

Well it's open so it has that going for it. The staff was nice but the food mediocre and I couldn't actually chew some of the chicken in my taco, which I consider to be gross because I like to eat my food. read more

All mex, no Tex. Finally found a good Mexican restaurant that reminds us of California Mexican. When asked if the beef was ground, the guy at the counter had no idea what that was. These were well made street tacos. We got 3 tacos, chips sleigh queso, and three sodas for under $20. read more

Really friendly staff and decent enough margaritas. Was told they stop serving margaritas at 12 but they wouldn't let me order a 2nd margarita at 11:55 and was refused because it was so close to 12. read more

Not homemade tortillas, fajitas were rough to chew. Taste like what you would make at home

The tacos here are legit! Best barbacoa in town.

The tacos here are amazing!!!! The chicken and barbacoa tacos are awesome! Really simple filling but so tasty! Their cheap, so you can fill up for a lot less than chain restaurants. And the cheese quesadillas are so good! read more

This place is open late, is cheap and soooo yummy!! Sometimes it takes awhile to get your order but that's usually because the place is busy! The Gringo Breakfast taco is awesome and will cure any hangover! read more

I am giving 4 stars because I have been several times and sometimes the service is rather crappy and they take forever to make my tacos. The food is definitely 5 stars tho. I always order the Especial plate that has 6 tacos and I add pineapple. Their salsa bar is great! I have been for lunch several times. We also call in our order and just run to pick it up too. I love to order my tacos and one of their bottled Mexican cokes. If you are looking for authentic Mexican tacos then look no further because they are right here! I have never been for breakfast but I hear good things. This place is way out of my way in the mornings though. read more
