    El Equinox w/double espresso shot
    Monica G.

Actual rating: 4.5 stars Background to review: I did a social media post asking about coffeeshops, a friend recommended El Equinox @ Tacorrido (Burnet Rd, S 1st St, & E Riverside Dr). I went to El Tacorrio on Burnet Rd (link below) ordered El Equinox + a barbarcoa taco and menudo. El Equinox, an iced horchata with a shot of espresso, I ordered a double shot. Even with a double shot, I was surprised at the sweetness. I kept mixing it up, but even with mixing and a little watered down, it was too sweet to finish. Barbarcoa taco on flour tortilla: moist, tender meat and *not* greasy! I forgot to tell them which salsa and they didn't ask, ended up with their salsa verde. OMG! Es muy picoso!! Much spicier than expected but tasted great! Menduo: ordered with 3 corn tortillas, got flour instead; good amount of meat, still wish I'd asked for extra. Wow, what amazed me is the spiciness! ¡Tan picante! .. ¡y eso es antes de agregar cebollas y jalapeños! Cilantro, onions, and diced jalapeño made it even better. Hate to do it, but gotta go from a 5 star ROTD to a 1 star. Although the tacos are good and the drive thru is convenient, I cannot bring myself to continue supporting this establishment. I recently experience mistakes in 2 of 3 orders in an 8 day time span. Then I experienced very unprofessional customer service from the GM when I called to make a complaint. The guy didn't take any accountability and made excuses. In fact, he began venting and even tried to blame me.. Here are some of the things he said: "We do like 800 orders per day, I'm not surprised we mess some things up." "I cannot be here 24/7 to make sure everything is done perfectly all the time." "I suggest you double check your order. You can ask them to repeat back your order to make sure they got everything right." After pleading my case, he eventually confessed "maybe it was a miss by our cooks then." This interaction displayed a complete lack of care for the customer or the quality of the product sold. There are taco joints on every block in ATX, so I will easily and happily take my business elsewhere.

I've got to spread the word about Taccorido in Austin--it's seriously underrated. While my friends usually flock to Torchy's, I just can't reconcile their prices for what you get. At Taccorido, they've nailed the perfect balance between portion size and price. The place is spotless, with staff constantly on their feet, keeping the tables clean. And the cashier? Quick and efficient without sacrificing an ounce of professionalism. I ordered a couple of carne asada tacos and three bacon, egg, and cheese tacos--absolute perfection. Taccorido is climbing to the top of my Austin taco list, and I only wish they had more locations!

    Migas $8.5

This migas plate, which cost only $8.5, was like breakfast nachos! Scrambled eggs, fried tortillas, delicious seasoned refried beans, and flavored crispy home potatoes all piled up and covered with melty cheese! The plate didn't have dividers so you know it was a full full plate! For small to normal appetites, this meal is shareable or can be eaten in two sittings if you want it all for yourself, no judgment. I asked for extra salsa verde and boy, oh boy! Spicy? Yes! Cilantro-y? Yes! Fresh and delicious? Heck yea.

I'm Addicted to their tacos. My favorites are the al pastor and the tacos de honchos is to die for! It's dreamy. The bell peppers and mushrooms are season delightfully. This taco is full of flavor. I love their queso blanco and chips. Simple queso but delicious every time. I love their green sauce!

Needed a breakfast taco this rainy morning. Used drive thru. Ordered egg chorizo and cheese. Friendly staff. Minimal wait. Taco pretty good. Asked for green salsa. The salsa is legit. Spicy... not burn your mouth but def has a kick. Very brightly colored and delicious.

I love this place but idk what happened to their meat. It tastes like stew meat and is supposed to be beef fajita. It's also almost always really greasy. Their queso is always amazing though and their tortillas. I just wish I could find a place here in austin that uses good meat consistently.

El Tacorrido was recommended to me. I was honestly disappointed. The prices are great, the food was mediocre. There was a lot of flavor missing in these traditional Mexican dishes. Breakfast Tacos- $2.25 Chips and Salsa- $3.50 Aguas Frescas- $2.75 I got an horchata, aguas frescas. It was a little too sweet for my taste. Salsa didn't taste like anything other than tomato soup. Chips were good, however they needed some salt. Tacos were decent. The restaurant ambiance was done very well. Good music, nice seating area, & great staff.

Stopped in and got a potato, egg, and bacon taco, and a barbacoa and al pastor taco with avocado, cheese, and lettuce all on flour. Al pastor was flavorful and I liked the pineapple chunks in it. Barbacoa was alright, kind of fatty and greasy and not too much flavor. Breakfast taco was alright. Flour tortillas tasted store bought and weren't that good. A tortilla is an essential part of a taco so it should taste homemade. All tacos were kind of small. I normally eat 2/3 and felt like I could've eaten 3/4. Green salsa was pretty good. Also got a watermelon agua fresca and it was good. I would've preferred it a tad sweeter but watermelon isn't in season rn so it's no big deal. It was like $15 which is maybe a bit high but whatever. Would probably be back.

Cute place. The interior is neatly designed and feels open with the large windows. They also have a drive-thru, which is perfectly convenient for those of us who are always on the go! I've tried a variety of their breakfast tacos, their chicken quesadillas and revuelta tacos. Their breakfast tacos are all good, you can't go wrong with any combo, really; and their chicken quesadillas are delicious. The revuelta tacos I had today, however were much too salty-- almost inedible; I wouldn't order them again. The homemade salsas are a great accompaniment to any taco-- especially the salsa verde. This spot is definitely a solid place for grab and go tacos!

    Bistec tacos = salty tacos

I Just went there to get some good tacos but I can't even eat them because they put too much salt on the meat and they are super salty. I was like maybe if I add more lemon to my tacos it will taste better but no all I can taste is salt :( I am Really disappointed I got 8 tacos and can't even finish one. And for some reason the meat isn't shopped correctly.

I've driven by El Alma many times being in the Austin area, but I never went until last Thursday, and after surviving a brief monsoon, I was glad to get a few drinks and eat some good TexMex with my large party just before a wedding. The best way to describe El Alma is that it is TexMex that is Austinified. Everything feels a little more unique and special than your classic TexMex options. I started off with a Mezcal Margarita that put a little hair on my chest and got me going. My group ordered two of their Nachitos, which were these nice nachos. For my main entrée, I got 3 Al Pastor tacos on corn with a side of their rice and beans. Their pastor was served with pineapples, onions, and cilantro with limes on the side. They were great and I immediately crushed them all. I thought their rice and beans were pretty good as well and a step above the typical TexMex rice and beans. The server was pretty attentive throughout our whole visit, and I honestly have no complaints about what they had to offer. Pricing on the meal and drinks was pretty standard for Austin, and I didn't think anything really took me out of the experience. On top of that, for being in Barton Springs, there is quite a bit of parking. I would love to come back at some point in the future and hang out on their rooftop bar because that seems like a lot of fun. Shoutout to El Alma for being a TexMex oasis saving me from the MoPac traffic. RIYL: TexMex, but better than your average
