My first visit to a Torchy's~ I was quite surprised how good it was, I have tried Taco Cabana & was VERRRY disappointed I ordered the chicken fajita taco served right off the cooktop nice veggies (I did pick out the green bell peppers tho) equal parts grilled chicken with a nice sauce (not salsa) which I preferred actually. They promote their TOTS, so tried those too! Served with bacon bits, cheese sauce and fried nice & chrispy . I could make this a semi regular stop as the freshness ranks a 10, atleast at this location (on Burnet & 51st) WELL DONE Torchy's read more

Torchy's Tacos - Chicken Fajita Taco & Damn Good Tots - 1/2 - Tex-Mex Near Me - Austin, Texas

The Trailer Park taco was delicious, but the Diplomat taco was overwhelmingly salty and hard to enjoy. The guac and chips were a 10/10. read more

I have seen this trend continue since COVID. Smaller food portions of key ingedients that have risen in cost like beef. They insist on putting salsas directly on each taco instead of giving customers a separate salsa container. Smaller tortillas equals smaller tacos. Only a 10 year or longer patron would truly notice the change. Torchy's ain't what it used to be which was great food and healthy portions. Now it is just below average. Unfortunately I have noticed this trend at a number of long time Austin favorite places to eat. Is this just the cost of doing business now in Austin? I think so. read more

Torchy's Tacos - Dining room - Tex-Mex Near Me - Austin, Texas

Torchy's has been a staple for as long as I can remember. I can't recall if this location was one of their first round of brick and mortar restaurants but it's ideally located off Burnet Road. This isn't one of the bigger fancier modern locations so I'm thinking it's been around for awhile and definitely has been remodeled a couple times. The inside has a few tables and there's outdoor seating as well. There's a small parking area (limited and can be full often) on either side as typical in central Austin. A plus is the parking doesn't back out on to the main road - an annoying feature of central Austin. Even though Torchy's can be found outside of Austin and outside of Texas it's still a tasty taco with fun names for their tacos as always. Their sauces are unique and they definitely have created their own style of taco - not Mexican or TexMex. I got their taco of the month, the swinger. It was so delicious like an Al Pastor taco on steroids with the yummy green sauce. I also love their avacado taco. Some locations serve margaritas but I think the older smaller locations just don't. read more

Always love Tacos and Torchy's delivers. I want to have more of that horchata-cold brew combo! It is delish!

You can never go wrong with tacos in Austin. Torchy's is one of my favorite places to go! I brought my friends with me to visit this location and we all got the fried avocado tacos. One taco was good enough to fill me up but I wanted more! We also got the chips and queso to share and the queso had the perfect amount of flavor and spice. If you have family or friends visiting from out of town, you have to take them here! read more

If you haven't had Torchy's, drop what you're doing and go. This place does not play around when it comes to tacos. Every bite is an explosion of flavor with that "I probably didn't need to order three but I'm so glad I did" kind of energy. The Trailer Park (trashy, of course) is a chaotic masterpiece, the Brushfire has the perfect kick, and the Green Chile Queso should honestly be illegal. It's dangerously addictive. Staff is always chill, the vibe is fun and laid-back, and the sauces? Life-changing. I would dip my phone in that Diablo sauce if I could. Every time I go, I swear it's my last taco--and then I'm back in the parking lot a week later. 10/10. Would risk a food coma again. read more

Your growth is Showing! So many changes since this small Austin business went big. Gone are the yummy sodas and we're down to the typical choices. Your tortillas are so manufactured pathetic cardboard tasting. I had a trailer trash taco trashy and it was one big soupy mess and it was not the queso causing the mess it was the sauce. I couldn't even tell if that chicken was fried or not. It was so bad. The staff could care less about what's going on. The service was slow and not existent. I had to wait for a while and for someone to come to the till to take my order. My experience just wasn't the torchy's of yesterday. Another fine establishment going the way of old Austin. read more

The girl with black hair at the cashier is extremely rude, I have always been so nice to her and tipped and literally every Saturday morning she gives me the worst attitude, rips my number off the number hanger and is just flat out rude. 10/10 tacos 0/10 service. Train your employees to treat people with kindness, she has no idea what people are dealing with in their personal lives. she is so rude!! read more

Who doesn't love a Torchy's taco and queso? It's truly hard to beat. I love the beef fajita on corn tortilla because it easily makes two (smaller) tacos. All of their sauces/salsas are fresh and delightful. It's a go to location for any friends visiting Austin. The bathroom at this location is outside and semi-strange. Note, my cousin with celiac was able to eat here because they have GF options. read more

Tacos, Tacos, Tacos- who doesn't love Tacos? Torchy's is a fun Taco Joint. I love coming here. I try different tacos every time!

I was visiting family and we ordered Torchy's the first night I got in town and it was SO good that we ordered it a second night before going to a concert. I can't remember what everyone else ordered but the Hillbilly Queso was EVERYONE's favorite...should have ordered 2. My Trailer Trash Taco (Trashy) was out of this world. Crazy good! I will be demanding more Torchy's the next time I'm in Austin!! Next time I want to go there and get a margarita - I hear they're quite good as well. And I will update with pics! read more

I've always loved Torchys. I got the fried avocado and it's always a consistent A+! I've been loving their guac recently even though I think their chips are a little to hard. Service was great and friendly and the ambiance reminded me of why I love Texas so much! Outdoors but lively. read more

Torchy's Tacos - Tex-Mex Near Me - Austin, Texas

I have been coming to this location for a couple of months since the Guadalupe location closed down. I am definitely missing that location a lot in comparison to this Torchy's. Every time I place an order for pick-up something is missing; Chips for the queso are missing, missing sauces etc. The staff is apologetic but this is happening every.single.time. When we order a large queso it is filled about half way, nugget sized chicken tender in the trailer park tacos and hardly any fajita in the steak burritos. Going to have to give the Mueller location a try even though it's further away. read more

Delicious tacos, not your ordinary taco. I alway bring friends and family here. Convenient locations all over.

The Burnet location needs contmer service training badly. I placed an order at the counter with the guy not saying one word to me through out the whole interaction. And then tisked at me when I didn't tip !! read more

How do you forget Chips for the queso and chips on a to go order? I tipped and spent $50 on food. I regret all of it. The food tasted worse because of this and I was warned Torchy's is trash and not because they use the word trashy. I'm starting to agree with what I was told and I think this will be my last visit and my queso just ended up in the trash since I didn't want to drink it. I hope this review warns others and I know I should have checked the bag but really the employee handing it off who got my cc tip should be doing their job. No more Torchy's for me and I'll tell others to avoid the brand. Sad how missing chips with queso ruined the entire meal and experience read more

Torchy's Tacos - Tex-Mex Near Me - Austin, Texas

Breakfast tacos, chips, and queso. Life is good. First time to this place- normally we hit Rudy's but since we were having that for dinner, we decided to diversify with Torchy's. I got two tacos but only ate one there since you know...chips and queso. The queso had a little kick to it and if you have read any of my reviews- I'm a wimp. But I powered through and enjoyed it immensely. I am so glad I saved one breakfast taco because my event lunch was mediocre. Would definitely come again. This location had a great friendly staff and super clean. The food was made to order. read more

** did not try the tacos ** I know I didn't try the "namesake" dishes but the sides were delicious. I got the signature queso and chips along with a side of street corn. It's fast food but very Tex-mex and an Austin institution to visit while in town. The queso is creamy with some spice from the habanero. The corn is packed full of flavor in an easy to eat format. Pro tip- Ask for any extra salsas you want to try! read more

THE BEST QUESO IVE EVER HAD! I had only been in Austin for a month before someone recommended I try Torchy's. Love the variety of flavor combinations they offer, and love that the secret menu is not really that secret! Service isn't spectacular, but I don't feel like this is the place you go to have an amazing customer service experience! As long as they keep hitting the spot with them taco's they could call me an A-hole for all I care I'd still come back! read more

Really enjoyed the brushfire taco. My friend got the independent (veggie) and really enjoyed that as well! Brushfire- the mango pieces were a little hard but it was also because they weren't quite ripe. A little heavier on the sour cream (which personally I don't care for) but the jerk chicken flavor really complimented the taco well overall. I got the diablo sauce and poblano salsas in addition The establishment was definitely worth the visit because of the Chile queso- which by the way you can get a half order of!! My friend and I definitely added some of our leftover diablo sauce to kick up the heat read more

We stopped here for breakfast on our last day in Austin. Torchy's is one of a number of taco places in Austin and I'd like a food truck. It just didn't have an authentic feel to it. We had the bacon egg and cheese breakfast tacos and they were tasty but ones we had the day before, from an actual food truck, were much much better. My wife also did an order of the churros and again the churros food truck by revival coffee had phenomenal, thick, tender churros and these were like straws. I think if you're just wanting to stop in and check out a place this is a good option, but if I were you, I would make a point of checking out. Great food trucks like Granny's. read more

Unofficially on a quest to find great tacos in Austin. I checked out Torchy's and Tacodeli first because those are the two everyone talks about. The sauces at both places are comparable, but the choices here are pretty much, which format do you want you meat, whereas there it is full of different choices like fish and an amazing cauliflower taco. By the time I came here I learned that the trick is to order one taco at lunch because they're big. This is a one taco town--not like the California street tacos I'm used to. (This way is better!) I got a salmon taco that was called something Orange, but I did not really taste orange under all the spice I put on it. Maybe my bad, but usually I can taste through the heat. The salmon was cooked very well and generously portioned for a taco. Maybe it was called orange for some UT thing. It's fast food so no real ambience, and the servers are all business but friendly when you interact. Going to try more small, independent places, but in the great Austin debate between Torchy's and Tacodeli, my vote is firmly in the Tacodeli camp. Sorry, Torchy's! read more

The food is great and the service is fast and friendly. I eat at Torchy's weekly! The restaurant is always clean too

It was great overall. Service was quick and friendly. There is outside seating and comfortable. The street corn came with a bit too much cheese on top, I had to scoop out about half out. Otherwise the sauce and the corn was SO good. The chips were perfectly salted and fresh and crunchy! The guac was good but it could've been a bit saltier. I would order the street corn again but ask for the cheese on the side or just scoop it out if it comes with too much. read more

No place to park there are like 4 parking spaces And this was on a Sunday. Business closed next door had orange cones to prevent parking. ‍

This is a pretty no-frills Torchy's location - just a counter to order at and some indoor & outdoor seating. The set up can be a little awkward to navigate, especially if there's a line and you're just picking up an online or phone order, but I guess you just have to go around the glass wall or squeeze your way through? Anyway, there is some interesting interior design though if you take a moment to look at the walls near the ceiling. The tacos and queso are of course delicious. The Fried Avocado and Migas are among my favorites. I recently tried the grande burrito and it was not too shabby either (and definitely pretty grande). I have had good service at this location, so no complaints there. There is a very, very small parking lot accessible from Burnet or North St. Otherwise, street parking on North is the way to go. read more

I love TORCHYS. I order online for pickup. However, the burnet road location has NEVER gotten my order right. NOT ONCE. Was not expecting this place to be so good. All fresh ingredients. They serve breakfast tacos all day for those that are interested in breakfast tacos. The tacos cost a little more than I am used to but they are larger than average AND worth the money. About $5 per taco. Get two of them. WORTH IT. Of the tacos we had the Baja Shrimp was the best but the Beef Fajita was right there with it. Highly recommend. Also, they have limited seating inside and also outside. But, the outside is close to the road so I would not recommend sitting out there. read more
