These tacos were delicious. I got three, and they were huge. I was comfortably full after two, but I finished all three. I had the potato egg & cheese, tollway, and pollo taco (the daily special). I especially loved how loaded the potato egg & cheese taco was. They really fill the tacos up with lots of ingredients. The green sauce was really good, and the red one was way too spicy for me. The ambience was not so great, but I find that the tacos often taste better in a place that doesn't look very nice. It didn't look like they provide water, but you can ask for water cups and they'll give you a little one with some water in it. Better than nothing. Would be better if they could provide a jug for self serve, or bigger cups. This place was so good though, and I'll bring my own water next time. This has easily become one of my top Austin taco spots. read more

I was looking for a place not too far from the Austin airport for some decently priced breakfast tacos. Happy I landed here since their breakfast tacos are an all day option. I placed my order at the counter and then found a seat. They bring the food to you once it's ready. The breakfast tacos come with flour tortillas, while the lunch tacos are with corn tortillas. They also provided a few sauces that were flavorful- not too hot but with good taste. The tacos are generously sized. It's a very casual place. This place is NOW open on SUNDAYS 8am Was looking for a taquaria place before picking up rental. Construction made Brazos House look closed and was going to an alternate taco place when i noticed a car. So we did a crazy turn to get here. Sign said open so here i am. Wow what a hidden gem! This place is next to the 99 ranch mall right by china family but i would have never found it until i searched for tacos nearby. Their 512 and the river (shrimp) taco were my favorites and it was really good. Their taco is sturdy and doesn't fall apart like others so its pretty clean to eat. Their mild salsa is really good and don't forget to ask for limes- they sliced it up for us right there so it was really fresh. While Brazas is not making my top tacos list, their offerings are okay and pretty filling. The green sauce was pretty tasty and spicy and really helped make the tacos much better than they were without it. We had 4 tacos total, two each and it filled us up. Farmers Market, Be Safe, Highland, and Lake Travis. The Farmers market is a vegetarian taco. I would have liked the zucchini to be a little more cooked. It needed a lot of sauce to make it favorable. Be Safe is also a vegetarian taco. This was completely stuffed and is quite tasty and filling. Highland was basic chicken fajita. The seasoning was okay and it needed a lot of green sauce to give it that oomph! Lake Travis is a fish taco. It looked better than it tasted unfortunately. The tilapia didn't seem like it was the freshest quality and the sauce over it looked wonderful but was quite bland. What really made experience change from decent/okay to kinda negative is the tiny insects all around the booths by the entrance. We switched tables twice before we got to a table that didn't have any visible bugs nearby. Between the bugs, the questionable quality of some of the ingredients, prices coming close to Taco Deli prices, and the plethora of taco places in Austin, I just don't think I will be coming back anytime soon. read more

I think there are some places in Austin that have slightly better tacos--such as the Migas here--but Brazas's rendition are very good. What's really standout about Brazas is the quality of the service. The tacos are neatly packed, in a stack, meaning that they take up minimal space, an important consideration when you're on a bike and carrying a messenger bag. This is, hands down, my favorite taco shop in Austin. There's plenty of great local tacos to choose from in this city, but these guys get everything right in that to-the-point, no frills way, which makes them a notch above the rest in my book. They don't need the smoke and mirrors because the food speaks for itself. The Waller Creek taco is my go-to, and what I always recommend to friends or family coming into town looking for food/taco recs. I've lived in the 'hood the last 7 years and never once been disappointed with the food or service (and I ordered here A LOT during the pandemic, lol). Also, their verde sauce is just to die for, and they never skimp you on toppings or portions and always give a generous amount of sauces. It doesn't hurt everyone here is super friendly and it's locally owned. I have zero bad things to say about this place, and hope they continue to thrive. read more

They serve some legit tacos that are very filling and at a good price. A pet peeve of mine is a taco place that charges $3.50 for a taco with 2 little pieces of meat....you won't have that problem at Brazas. Their tacos I could barely close the top because they were filled. I'm a big boy and 2 of their tacos filled me up. I order an F1 taco($2.50) and an I35 taco ($2.99) and man did they hit the spot. Their salsa are good as well. I really liked their green salsa, very tasty. They also have a habanero salsa so if you like heat I'd recommend that one. Use really fresh vegetables and keep everything super al dente. Ka-Ching! * * * Brazas is in the old run-down working-class Airport location that used to house Jasmine's Mexican # 2. Jasmine's made great tacos. So does Brazas. Jasmine's was straight traditional Tex-Mex all the way. Brazas is half straight traditional and half Austin Wacko-Taco. They know about Torchy's and they want to keep Austin weird. The decoration is your grandmother's Mexican place. The music is Taylor Swift, Rachel Platten and Alt-bands with Hits. The menu sections are traditional. The taco recipes are creative. Like Torchy's, they have a line of straight no-nonsense breakfast tacos, for people who can't stand too much change or creativity first thing in the morning. Everything else is complex and sophisticated, with four ingredients or more that go together nicely. The combos work well. As mentioned before, the vegetables are superior. Some form of vegetable shows up in most of the tacos and they really pack a punch. Tacos come unsauced - and are perfectly fine that way. If you want sauce, the lady behind the counter recommends the green sauce. This is a medium heat creamy jalapeno sauce - not legendary but good enough. Fajita tacos are particularly good. Carne guisada is usually boring and is boring here too. The sauce and vegetables compensate nicely however. * * * Overall, this is a fine place. I like Torchy's better. Fuego's and Good Bull in College Station are legendary taco palaces. But Brazas can equal or beat a lot of the tacos coming out of the best Mexican restaurants in our fair city. First time here and I ordered to go as I was on lunch at work. The menu choices are different types of tacos - more than the typical variety. I am a huge Taco fan! When I picked up my order, which was ready when it was supposed to be, I drove up to an older building - maybe this could be on Diners, Drive ins, and Dives! The dining area is rather large, larger than the outside of the place indicates it would have been. It took a few minutes for someone to come up to the counter and I am not sure if he was very busy or not having a bad day - I felt like I was interrupting something by being there. No smiles - just a kind of growl look about him. Although he spoke to me nicely, it was a put off for sure. The place was quite empty but I am not sure if something else was going on to make him look so preoccupied. When I arrived back at work, I eagerly opened up these nicely wrapped tacos ready to tear into them as I was very hungry. I ordered: Koenig Taco Breakfast : This delicious migas taco is probably one of the best I have had in Austin. They do not skimp on portions for sure and those corn tortillas are as delicious as the previous reviews stated they were. They did not skimp on the cheese either - it was melty and yummy. Hands down, one of the best Migas tacos EVER. Lamar Taco Breakfast: I recently started to enjoy cactus in my breakfast tacos and around Austin, the quality of cactus is not consistent. When I tried this taco I was relieved to taste the cactus was absolutely amazing - perfectly cooked. Again - they were very generous with the portions. The quality was very good and again, the corn tortilla to die for. Red Sauce: I was thinking that I would get something closer to a table salsa, I was wrong. The salsa given out for tacos is not the garden variety table salsa i am use to and I must say - it was disappointing. The red sauce tastes heavily seasoned with chilis, more of an earthy taste. I prefer fresher salsas.... less is more sometimes. Green Sauce: The garden variety smooth light green salsa that so many taco places in austin serves with their tacos. I was pleasantly pleased to find it was not overly powering in heat and actually have more flavor than spice. This was actually better than the red. I will definitely be back, not sure about dining in though, but I would like to try other menu items they offer. read more
