Not a bad place to eat at. It's your average Mexican food but still good. I would eat here again.

My husband and I had some time to kill while running some errands and decided to eat here because of its location. We are glad we did. The menu has a collection of old standbys but also some other offerings that you many not see elsewhere. There is also a good selection of lunch specials. I got the carne asada and my husband got a quesadilla. The carne asada was delicious. The skirt steak was well seasoned and cooked; the meat tender and flavorful. The rice and recited beans were yummy. I had a choice of flour or corn tortillas (opted for the corn) and they tasted very fresh. My husband loved the guacamole and his quesadilla was an enormous plate of gooey cheesy goodness. The place has a good vibe. There were multiple tables of regulars. The staff knew their names and likewise so did the regulars. Even though I was fighting a fever, I was eyeing the drinks being delivered to the table. They looked large, well-chilled and delicious. I saw our waiter/bartender squeezing limes by the dozen, presumably for drinks. I also read that they make their own sour mix. If I hadn't felt so lousy, I would have tried one of their signature margaritas. If you are in Bend and have a hankering for Mexican food, this is the place to go! read more

This place is awesome. It has become our favorite restaurant in Bend and we go there to eat almost once a week. I always get the Carnitas de Res and my wife ordered the Pollo en Crema on this visit. Both dishes tasted great. Service is fantastic, food comes out fast and tastes great, and the margaritas are very yummy. I highly recommend this restaurant. read more

We've finally found a Mexican restaurant in Bend that reminds us of the mom-and-pop ones in SoCal! The menu has a wide variety of options, and our waitress, the fabulous Faviola, was so helpful. We'll definitely be back, and I'll ask for black beans instead of frijoles. read more

Food was delicious, but service was even better! They had our food prepared faster than I've ever had at a sit-down restaurant, and it was some of the best Mexican food I've had. This was the second time we visited this great place. Staff is super-friendly,helpful and accommodating. Great choices, HUGE portions, and very reasonable prices. I got a great margarita and the kids and I shared the unbelievably delicious appetizer combo. Flautas (soft and stuffed with moist pulled chicken), fantastic nachos, and a very cheesy quesadilla, along with generous portions of sour cream and excellent guacamole. My entree was cooked-to-order carne asada with a seafood-stuffed chile relleno. The carne asada, which I got medium rare, was so tender I could cut it with the side of my fork! Amazing! Nothing special, was pretty expensive for the quality of food and wasn't as fresh as I was hoping. My wife's tacos were soggy and fell apart when she tried to pick them up. Had dinner here last night and was not disappointed. service was top notch! I had have driven by Friday night when I arrived in town and the place was rocking at 4 pm and the parking lot was full..... Cara loves Mexican food so I thought we have to do this while in town. We pull in at 7 pm on a Saturday and the place was busy people waiting for tables and the aroma was off the hook....... we were just 2 so we got seated immediately and had chips and salsa on the table before the waitress could even say hello...... order taken and wham like 10 mins later food is out and on the table. Fantastic food good environment lots of families and the noise level was a bit loud but hey its a busy family place that's to be expected. excellent place for a nice dinner. and its always good to see a full parking lot , to me that means fresh and delicious food! read more

I love going to El Rodeo almost every day for lunch. Usually excellent food and service, I tried going to El Rodeo on Saturday and Sunday. However, Miguel runs an around like "A CHICKEN WITH HIS HEAD CUT OFF!" I really like Miguel, BUT HE NEEDS TO SLOW DOWN, he thinks it's really busy, but it is not! I asked a few other patrons and they confirmed the exact same issue. In fact, Miguel totally got my order wrong (AGAIN), and said he was too busy to "figure it out"!! I will never comeback on a Saturday or Sunday!! The owners need to SLOW Miguel DOWN!! read more

It may be enormous and noisy but the food and beverage are great fixes for duos or big big parties just watch yourself in there everyone

Bend has a number of similar restaurants - El Caporal, El Rancho Grande, Mazatlan, not to mention a few in Redmond - so getting your Mexican food on is not terribly difficult. - Solid Americanized Mexican fare. The menu includes all the usual suspects. For me on this visit, the chile relleno, enchilada, tostada all were on point. - Good margaritas. Their most expensive one comes with a second pour. - Good service, fair prices. The bad: - Music was playing too damned loud! With a full house of chatty people contributing to the din, we had to ask them to turn it down. Why, why do restaurants feel we need to be assaulted by high-decibel music while we eat? Background music is fine. Interestingly, it was much quieter in the bar area than in the dining room. - The corner booth, which seats five or six, has a weirdly shaped table. The booth seat is rounded but the table is not, meaning you don't have room to scoot around past the corner. Weird. - Their latest health inspection score when we visited was a bit low (80) and contained some concerning items (along with the usual BS the inspectors ding restaurants for). El Rodeo needs to systemically fix their way of doing business. Most disappointing was the hit they took for their employees not knowing anything about food-borne illnesses. It's hard to feel confident that the kitchen is well-run and clean when the staff is ignorant on restaurant health concerns. read more

I'm a strong believer in Mexican food being difficult to make inedible. I eat a lot of it, and I have never been picky about it. I know what the good stuff is but I will eat some low grade whitewashed Mexican food if that's all that's available happily. This place? It was awful. I don't know if it's because we got takeout but the food was expensive, tiny portions, and some of it was outright inedible. The molé didn't even have a full chicken breast worth of meat, the sauce didn't taste anything like any molé I've ever had and also, it was gross, and there was nothing else in it. No veggies. Nothing but sad chicken and thin questionable sauce. For about twenty bucks. The sautéed mushrooms? Weren't. They tasted canned. In Oregon, the land of mushrooms. The tacos were soft and we ate them five minutes after we received them so... Ew. They got our order out quick, I'll give them that. But I guess garbage food is easy to produce quickly. read more

My husband and I came here after a long day of hiking. We were starving, and El Rodeo hit the spot! Their chips and salsa are delicious, though slightly spicier than we were used to. I got the burrito asada, and it was delicious! Normally I would just eat half cause it's really large, but I ate just about the whole thing after all our walking that day. My husband had the arroz carnitas. He thought it was just okay, the chicken didn't seem to have any seasoning on it at all. He said he would get a burrito next time instead. read more

Superb customer service; from the hostess to the waiter (Miquel) to the manager, they were so attentive and pleasant. The food was great, full of flavor, just the right temperature. This is the best Mexican restaurant around these parts as far as I am concerned. The staff is always on top of everything. You never have to wait for drink refills and the chips and salsa are always plentiful and the food comes to your table nice and hot! I love the pork tamales here, they are covered in Verde sauce. I've heard great things about this place. Although this was not what I expected. The salsa tasted like ketchup with pico de gallo added. It was loud and cramped. Enchiladas were alright.
