It was interesting when I came in for my friend's birthday that the host did not know where her reservation was. I said I was there for a reservation under my friend's name and he said "oh okay, you can go inside and check to see if she's there" which was fine but a little on the disorganized side. My boyfriend and I sat down at what I assumed was my friend's reservation since it was a big empty table. Our waiter came by about 5-10 minutes after we seated, as it was pretty busy, to give us menus and explained to us the dinner and dance package for $35, which was a great deal! It included soup or salad, an entree, coffee or tea, and our cover for the dance floors. We ordered our drinks with him and waited a while actually for the drinks. Understandable as it was pretty busy. I had the cream of vegetable soup and steak that came with potatoes and mixed veggies. Everything was delicious and I was super full, I couldn't finish my dinner. They have two dance floors here: upper floor is more like a night club scene, lower floor is more salsa and bachata dancing. It was nice that the cover included both dance floors. I will definitely be coming back here for a nice night out for dinner and dancing.

Food: A+ Music: A+ Ambience: A+ Went here with three friends on a Saturday night. We arrived a bit after 9:00PM and missed the dance lesson which was okay because the food was AMAZING. I got their Steak special. It was a little big (10oz I believe) and I wish there was an option for a smaller one. The vegetables and potatoes were all very flavourful. 100% recommend their steak. The aesthetic was beautiful. It's a perfect place for a date night as the fairy lights and ambience is all very romantic in the restaurant side. By 10:30PM, we were ready to hit the dance floor. The main floor is where all the salsa?latin? dancers are. We were basically in awe on how GOOD the dancers were. Since we obviously aren't in their level, we made our way to the lower floor. The lower floor is where the club-y dance is. Music was very good and got you dancing all night long! I personally have not listened to Spanish/Latin music prior to this night but even so, I had lots of fun dancing to the beat and the music. The drinks were on the pricier side but overall it was a fun night.

Friends and I came to El Rancho a few months ago for a friend's bachelorette party. El Rancho had come recommended on a list of places for bachelorette parties. My friend reserved the party package which included several liquor shots, sparkling wine, a cake (in our case, cheesecake), and balloons. We also had a reserved booth for the 6 of us. There were several choices on the prix fixe dinner menu including chicken, steak, and another entree option. All of us ordered the steak option which came with soup or salad, as well as steamed vegetables. Although I was not expecting steakhouse quality meat, the steak was just okay. I was happy that I ordered mine to medium rare doneness. My friends' steaks ordered as well done or medium well came out tough. The cheesecake was pretty decent, and included an assortment of flavours. After dinner (and of course mandatory group photos with sombreros), we proceeded to another room where they had a lovely dance instructor who walked us through steps to learn bachata and another Latin dance. This was a lot of fun. There were several other bachelorette parties also present that night and many also participated in the dance instruction which takes place from 9-10:30pm. After 10:30pm, the Latin dance club opens. It was PACKED with hot sweaty people on the dance floor. This place was busy with lineups outside the door even after 1am (they are open until 3am). El Rancho is good for groups and is worth checking out if you're looking for a one-stop night out with friends who enjoy Latin dancing. 3.5 stars for overall experience.

After being away from the dance scene I decided to hit the dance floor. We had a dinner reservation which included a package: appetizer, main dish, beverage, dance class and entry to the social. (Entry is usually 12 but Free for woman before 10pm) - package is for $35 My choice of main dish was a medium done sirloin steak with a side of veggies. It was delicious! It was made to satisfy. As for my side I had the carrot soup and bread and butter was complimentary. They also had a great deal for beer. 5 beers on any choice was for $25. They even added a little gift when serving the beer. As for the salsa class: it's not the best but it's an ok prep for a salsa night. The social was good, there was a mix of all ages, music was great as well.

Arrived just after 7 pm for dinner and headed up the stairs to the 2nd floor restaurant & club. Only 3 other tables occupied at this time so we scored the preferred window table. We were limited to a couple of red wines served by the glass, so as we hesitated our server offered us a small sample of their red wine. We appreciated her kind gesture, but we both felt it tasted like homemade wine your uncle Gino would make back a few decades ago. We opted for white wine and Dos Equis Lager. Cheesy with a multitude of unrelated "themes". Archways, white stucco. Table cloths and linen napkins. Dining in a Spanish & Latin restaurant, we ordered one of the two house specials - Paella Valenciana for 2 $41.95 - Rice, Chicken, Sausage and Seafood, including lots of mussels, oven baked and served in its authentic iron dish. 25 Minutes preparation time so pace yourself or you'll be on round 3 of drinks before ya know it! We both loved the food but stayed clear of the club in the back heading for my favourite tequila bar - Reposado.

Salsa dancing is fun and flirty, while Bachata can be sensual or playful (a bit of both) and kizomba is sensual.

This is such a restaurant. But for the greater good, and because it totally deserves to be hyped up, I'm gonna share this gem with you! Granted, I have only been here once and I had never had Nicaraguan food before but everything this restaurant served up from drinks to appetizers to mains to dessert was unbelievable. It may look like nothing special on paper and even look understated on the plate but once it's in your mouth your tastebuds are in for a ride! Let me explain a bit more...the "tacos" look like a sundae collided with a salad on the plate but when you break it up and try it the crunch and the sweet and the sour just works like magic! I ordered the Churrasco but swapped out the mashed potato with rice and beans - how the Nicaraguans eat it I was told - and boy was I glad I listened! I have never downed so much rice and beans so quickly in my life; normally I avoid them so that's testament to how tasty it was. 3 out of all 3 of the desserts were delicious but the standout favourite among my party was surprisingly the cheesecake, so don't knock it till you try it. The atmosphere is lively and colourful, and the service was great too! That's it; I think I've shared enough - you're welcome

Pork tenderloin was pretty tasty but tough & dry especially for a tenderloin. Rice was decent, with a slight flavour, but a bit mushy. Plantain was crispy. The restaurant interior was decorated quite nicely but was very warm (in summer) & service was disorganised & some servers didn't speak English well so communication was sometimes difficult. All the staff are so friendly - from the waitstaff to the chefs / owners and kitchen staff, everyone in the restaurant seems to exhibit the Latin American hospitality and friendliness. The place feels homey, cozy, and festive with the music in the background (from the TV screen on the wall), and big photos depicting different places in Colombia along the wall. Ambience is very laid-back and casual, with amazing food that tastes homemade and authentic. It took a while for the food to cook and come out (about 40 minutes) - mostly because of the Cazuela de Mariscos (seafood soup) that took the longest to cook. It was also during a very busy time on a weekend. They seemed to have a constant flow of incoming catering and take-out orders (a good sign), and the restaurant itself was packed. All / most mains come with coconut rice, salad, and tostones (fried plantains). As for drinks, you can order freshly squeezed juices in either water or milk. We ordered the fresh strawberry & blackberry juice in water, as the one in milk would make it more like a smoothie. Each juice order comes in a jug (whether it be a small or large jug). This came as a surprise to us - really good value for such a large volume of juice ($6 for a whole "small" jug that turned out to be quite big, enough to refill each glass a few times for 2 people). The juice itself tasted fresh, natural, and refreshing. Dishes that we tried: 1) Filete de Tilapia con Camarones (grilled tilapia fish fillet & shrimps with coconut rice, plantain, and salad) - Big pieces of fish and lots of small shrimps, in a very delectable sauce. 2) Arroz Marinero (seafood rice with plantain & salad) - Loved this dish. The rice was a bit soupy which I liked. It was a bit like a soupy paella (including the rice) - very delicious and packed with various kinds of seafood. 3) Cazuela de Mariscos (seafood soup with coconut rice, plantain, and salad) - Very creamy soup, like a chowder. I'm not a big fan of chowders / cream-based soups in general, but others liked it and said this was good. 4) SIDE: Ensalada (House Salad) 5) Arepa de Chocolo con Queso (sweet corn dough with cheese) All of the main dishes were EXCELLENT - loved the mixed seafood (fish fillet, shrimps, octopus, squid, etc.). There was so much seafood in every dish. In most places, you get more carbs / rice compared to the protein. Here, it was the opposite. The coconut rice was a bit dry but it's decent - good to soak up the sauces of the main dishes. The salad is just shredded cabbage and carrot with big sliced tomato. I was a big fan of the salad dressing (some creamy mayo-like dressing), but luckily the dressing was only at the top of the salad (the bottom part of the salad remained fresh and crunchy, which I liked). We ordered the Arepa de Chocolo con Queso for to go. It was different than the Venezuelan arepa that I'm used to. The Colombian arepa seemed to be sweeter and more buttery. It probably would've been better if it was eaten right after it was freshly made, and while it was still warm. There was a lot of cheese in the arepa, giving it a nice salty and savoury contrast to the sweet corn dough. After you're done the meal, you go up to the counter to pay (instead of having the bill brought to your table). Great food overall - I would not hesitate to come back.

There were many different ingredients on the plate: plantain, eggs, chorizo, fried pork belly, ground beef, avocado, rice, beans, etc. A very good deal. We might have seemed too unfamiliar with the food, because I didn't even know how to eat Empanadas. After I ordered an Empanada and let the servers in the restaurant watch me eat it awkwardly, a server who I guessed might be the owner treated us to two pastries -- one looked like a ball, and the other was flat bread. I looked them up by AI, and they should be Buñuelo and Almojábana, two cheese pastries from Colombia. I hope it's appropriate, but Buñuelo may be the most delicious cheese bread I've ever had -- it's tastier than the main dishes . I think it's a beautiful local business.
