Came here for brunch after seeing all the glowing Google reviews, but unfortunately left a bit underwhelmed. We ordered the Huevos Rancheros and a mocktail. The mocktail was watered down and lacked flavor, which was disappointing. The Huevos Rancheros looked nice but didn't deliver on taste - it felt a bit flat compared to what I was expecting at this price point. The ambiance is definitely beautiful, but the food itself didn't quite match the hype.

I went here with a few friends because we heard great things about the restaurant. The interior is certainly very nice -- I really like the greenery, very similar to the vibe at 1Kitchen beside it. The restaurant was packed even on a Wednesday night so reservations are definitely recommended. They do have a dress code although not sure how much of it is enforced. Some men do come in suits and women in nice dress, but also you can be more casual as well. They recommend us to order some items to share, so we got the duck tacos, arugula salad, octopus croquettes, tuna timbale, grilled striped bass, along with some drinks. The prices is on the higher end (tacos were $24 for two) considering that it's a hip restaurant on King West. Honestly, I found the flavours to just be okay, nothing was too memorable. It seems that most tables got the old fashion because it gives a good show with the fire, but you're also paying $25 for a cocktail. Overall, I think it's a good place to try out for a date night or with after work social. You can totally find better food elsewhere at lower prices.

Booked Casa Madera for a birthday celebration and it didn't disappoint. The service was excellent and the interior was stunning--really loved the vibe. The tables were a bit small, but that's the style they're going for, I guess. LOL. It was relatively quiet when we arrived around 5pm on a Sunday, just as dinner was starting. We started with an amuse-bouche that seemed like some kind of delicious potato dish, though I can't recall exactly what it was. The Mayan hummus was good but not groundbreaking--definitely better than store-bought, but nothing too special. The tacos were absolutely BOMB, perfectly balanced in terms of meat, toppings, and tortilla, with fantastic flavors. The star of the show was the Casa Tomahawk. It's a huge dish, easily enough for four people. Though pricey, the meat's phenomenal cooking and quality made it worth the expense, and it was served with some simple yet tasty tomatoes and potatoes. We ended with a strawberry ice cream tart which they decorated with a 'Happy Birthday' message, a nice touch reflecting the special note I made in the reservation. The mocktails we tried were so good, they made me want to order more. Overall, Casa Madera delivered great vibes, food, and service. It's pricey, especially if you opt for something like the tomahawk, but well worth it for a special occasion. I'm looking forward to trying their brunch next time since I've heard good things about it.

Went with a reservation waited more than 30 minutes as table wasn't ready. Once seated service staff was great, food was good nothing too special. Ambiance is nice with performers and music. Tacos were okay nothing special, truffle risotto and oysters were amazing.Great for a night out in the city not somewhere I would go often.

This wood house is made for cookin'! Aside from the beautiful decor which is the perfect complement to 1 Hotel, let's talk great food. If you want the full (eye) tasting menu, see below. Worth noting was the spectacular grilled octopus, wild mushroom truffle risotto, and the hunk of beef.

While staying at the 1 Hotel Toronto, we decided to book a Saturday night reservation for Casa Madera. Our waitress, Charlie was great! They are known for their cocktails & they did not disappoint! Inspired by the elements (earth, wind, water & fire), the cocktails are an experience on their own. I ordered the ATMOSFERA (Mezcal, Gin, Wildflower Honey, Pêche de Vigne, Basil, Lemon, Madeira) & it was not only delicious but the presentation took it over the edge! (see video below) & my guy ordered MI CASA TEPACHE (Housemade charred pineapple tepache, Mezcal, Grapefruit Zest, Lime, Tajin) - HAMACHI SERRANO (fresh lime, cucumber, pickled onion, crispy garlic) Good, very fresh but lacked flavour for me. - HEIRLOOM TOMATO (watermelon, red onion, cilantro pesto, balsamic, black truffle burrata) AMAZING! I could have eaten this all night. - DOVER SOLE (caper brown butter sauce, chili de arbol, lemon brûlée) SOOOO delicious! Would also have eaten this all night! - PACIFICO STRIPED BASS (fennel citrus salad, salsa trio served with corn tortillas) Very fresh & perfectly cooked although I did not eat it in the tortilla with salsas. Simply squeezed some lime over it. Perfect (but the SOLE was my favourite) - SALTED CARAMEL + CHOCOLATE TRUFFLE (swiss meringue, vanilla pavlova kisses, chocolate crumble, crunchy almonds, chocolate ice cream) DELICIOUS! i loved this incredible dessert. Music & vibe was great & would definitely return again & again!

If I could I would give this place a 3.5 star not the full 4. The ambiance in this place was awesome - there was definitely a vibe there but I felt everything was just extremely slow and they weren't even busy. The food was interesting, definitely a fusion in flavour but not for my palette. The only thing I actually enjoyed was the filling inside the chocolate ball. I feel if the server was more attentive versus us having to flag her I would've been okay with the full 4 stars. Definitely not on the top of my list of places I'd return too.

The ambiance. GORGEOUS! There's also a violinist that plays modern music and accompanies the edm in the background. Plus a tasteful dancer that goes around the restaurant. I was with my girlfriend visiting from NY. We ordered a bunch of things to try. The tacos were the best I've had in Toronto. Hands down. The duck tacos are a must. The ceviche and scallops were extremely fresh. The mushroom risotto was exceptional and I'm usually not the biggest fan of risotto. Service was great. He was very attentive, great and very honest with his suggestions!

Ambience - came here on a Sunday night with a group of about 8 people. Loved it. Felt private, cozy. Loved the ambiance. Food & drinks - - Wine - ordered a bottle of Valpolicella (red) great wine! - cocktail - Huracan- brandy forward with hints of honey, blackberry & lime. Earl grey flavoured mist to top off the drink. Amazing presentation, flavourful. Loved it. Would high recommend (recommended by waitress!) - Duck carnitas - was looking for a small entree (as I wasn't as hungry) and drinks, and boy this didn't disappoint. Flavourful, rich, topped with red onions, garlic cream & chipotle salsa. Yum!! Comes with 2x tacos and they were very generous with the duck portions. Would recommend to share or snack! Service- excellent and attentive. Very down to earth, approachable and organized. Attended to our group well, ensured everyone their orders right, and followed up with everyone in a timely manner. They were able to clear the table in a timely manner as well as friendly! Parking- there is a parking garage, directly below the resto. A little confusing getting out of the parking garage, but eventually will find your way into the restaurant if you as hotel staff, or enter via the neighboring bar. Overall 4/5. I would like to try more food, and/or come on a Fri/Sat night to give a true review. But overall enjoyed the experience. Loved the atmosphere. Cozy, chic, private, classy. Loved it! Would come back!

Ambiance: 4.5/5 - beautiful venue, lighting, decor, etc. music was awesome as well, there was a live dancer and guitar player. I'd say it's a bit of a more romantic vibe, but did go as a group and didn't feel weird in any way. Only reason of giving it 4.5 and not 5 is because it was too loud at some points and hard to converse Service: 4/5 - very good and friendly service. Only reason for the lower star is because we weren't checked up on that much - not that it took away from our dinner or anything, but just comparing to other restaurants, there wasn't as much "follow up". Still overall excellent service though, I'm only being critical because it's a review. Food: Kobe A5: 5/5 my first time trying Kobe, but it was DIVINE. Some of the best meat I've ever had. Loved every single bite.... It's a lot of money, but worth it for me as I'm a steak guy. Fattoush Salad: 3.5/5 - was good but nothing special, didn't feel like there was much value. Pave Potatoes: 4.5/5 excellent. Salsa accompanied with it was good but nothing special. Confit Truffle Potatoes: 4/5 very good Fire grilled ribeye: 4/5 very good, but compared to the Kobe A5, is a lower rating. Still great, but not the BEST steak I've ever had. Would maybe come back and try the tacos next time instead of this? Overall Rating: 4.5/5 excellent restaurant and service ... just a little pricey, but worth it once in a while

Great food, brunch has live DJ and performers (dancer, guitar, and drums). I think the price for many of the brunch items were very reasonable ~$20-35 per item with a few unique dishes in the higher range (like the tomahawk 44oz). The natural lighting and plant-heavy decor creates a fun atmosphere for groups and celebrations. My favourites are the octopus and huevos rancheros. The pancakes look great, but they're so filling that it would be better as a shared plate or for someone with a sweet tooth. Would recommend the whole experience!
