$10.99 (3) a la cart ground beef enchiladas w verde sauce.
    Tracy M.

This is my favorite location of all The Rancho Grandes. You can easily pass by it on Montgomery Rd located in a small strip mall. Because of this it never seems to be too busy, you can get seated and served very quickly. The food is consistently much better at this location starting with the salsa. Happy hour 2-6pm EVERYDAY, which includes some appetizers and drinks. Prices are excellent also. You can't go wrong with anything on the menu but my go to is the $10.99 a la cart (3) enchiladas. I'm not big on all the extras that come with a meal (rice/beans/lettuce) I get ground beef with extra verde sauce. I could literally drink a bowl of that verde sauce and be happy. Their verde sauce is super mild which I prefer but get whatever sauce/meat you want, they will accommodate. The margaritas are strong! Just like most other locations and Mexican restaurants, service can be pretty bad after your food comes out. Terrible with refilling water, chips & salsa, getting another margarita, flagging down to pay your bill...they just seem to leave your food and never come back. It is definitely hit or miss.

    Cadillac margarita and tortilla chips!

The food comes out as it is ready which is so nice. They have a huge menu, something for anyone who loves dumplings, buns, and traditional dishes. We shared the pork soup dumplings (so so delicious) the broth was flavorful and the filling was plentiful. We also had the fried pork buns which are little fluffy packages of heaven. The best lunch I have ever had and it was incredibly inexpensive. In today's world to find food you can watch being prepared from scratch and it's a very good bang for your buck is rare! This place gets busy and because of reviews we got there right at 11 and by 11:30 they had a line out the door. But worth the wait!!

They suggested this place and I was down after checking out their Yelp page. I arrived around 5:15 on a Wednesday night and this place was already overflowing with customers. I couldn't believe it! I made my way through to the hostess and to my surprise they were able to seat us right away. We weaved our way to a back corner of the restaurant and started combing through the menu. We each ordered an iced matcha (peach and strawberry) and decided to share a number of different dishes... the shrimp shumai, the black truffle pork soup dumplings, the steamed vegetable dumplings, and the drunken noodles with shrimp. It was the perfect amount of food for the two of us. As a pescatarian I skipped on the black truffle pork dumplings but I tried everything else. The vegetable dumplings were by far my favorite. So flavorful and they looked like green leaves the way they were made. The restaurant itself is lovely with beautiful murals and artwork on the walls. It definitely didn't feel like we were in Cincinnati. They also have a big window where you can see their chefs making all of the dumplings by hand. Very cool. I will say that it was so busy that I felt a little over stimulated at one point. Our table was so close to others and right next to where the staff were coming in and out. I would definitely try and come at a less busy time and would ask for a different seat, but that's just me.

They gave me great advice on not to use salted butter because the king crab legs were already cooked in salted water. The canned crab was good but not as good as the legs! Go on Tuesdays and Thursdays for their taco specials if you want to save a little money. One of these days I'm going to get the mocha. I usually get fajitas. Their shrimp is fantastic, the Carne, the chicken, everything is really good here. My wife and I ate lunch here one time and add a nearby table were Hispanic men speaking Spanish. It looked like their lunchtime from wherever they were working. Several of them had big balls with crab legs sticking out out of them. There is a dish on the menu that describes itself that includes crab legs so I assume it was that. It was very tempting. They also have a decent Mexican beer selection, and a nice selection of tequilas. My son is 32 and every time we bring him here to eat I feel like we have wasted our time. He always orders the chicken quesadilla. He has done this since he was little. I wish he would be a little more adventurous and find a few more things that he really likes. So my review is: go to La Jaiba for lunch and dinner and I think you will be very happy with the results.
