The Machitos & Botanas were exceptional, highly recommend. Plates are loaded you will need a to go box.

Pleasantly surprised. I've been passing by this place for a couple years now since working in the area but never stopped by. Finally, I did and now can't stop going back. Although they do have American food, their Mexican food is not strictly Tex-Mex. Thank you! I love Mexico-Mexican food lol. What's even more nice is that they let me order chilaquiles, though not on the menu. Ohhhh they are so good. The prices are quite good as well. I definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone whos sick of taco bell. Want real Mexican food? Try to El Puerto.

First and last trip, I don't like the idea of no unpaid parking anywhere near by. I ordered the Marvin Zendler minus the Onion rings My son the Hot Bastard with fry's and Rings. Due to parking situation, ordered to go. I hope it's as good when I get home as it might be eating in. I love the mixed crowd. I don't come downtown often and reminded why. Cooked to order so a bit of a wait. Server Bar tender was friendly and said they offer a Military discount. Parking kills it for me. Many may say the Burger is small, for me cut in half was enough to fill me up on half.

They have fun burger options, however we were quite disappointed in the quality and lack of flavor. Marvin Zindler: 6.8/10 The meat was dry and overcooked so when you bite into it, it crumbles. It needed more sauce. Inspector Clouseau: 5/10 The burger was sitting in French onion sauce which made the bun soggy. Very messy and hard to eat with your hands, had to end up eating with a knife and fork. We ordered side of fries with each burger, and opted to upgrade one to chili cheese fries. When the food was brought out, we had a side fries and a whole, large order of the Cheese Fries Surprise. However we saw a customer behind us with a small order of the cheese fries surprise. I just felt our server should have clarified the size with us. So be aware when "upgrading" your side fries. Overall, this burger joint was a let down and not for us.

It always has such a fun atmosphere, and you will likely hear me singing along with the rest of the bar patrons. It's become my go-to place for a cheeky drink after an Astros game, and their dirty martini is the best in town. The bartenders are always welcoming, and it's the perfect place to unwind. My go to recommendation: A dirty martini, blue cheese olives. It's always served skating, which is pure perfection.

Upon sitting at the bar for Houston Restaurant Weeks, the evening female bartender made me wait 10 to 15 minutes without even a basic acknowledgment, while every single person seated around me was greeted immediately. Throughout my time there, she passed me multiple times while I attempted to get her attention to order, choosing to purposely ignore me. I eventually had to raise my voice slightly to get assistance from a male staff member in the corner of the bar just to place my order. While he wasn't particularly warm either, at least he was functional. The poor service didn't stop there. The bread service was completely forgotten, and I had to ask for it multiple times. For the duration of the meal, the bartender continued to ice me out, catering warmly to everyone else around me while making me feel profoundly isolated, invisible, and unwelcome. Feeling entirely uncomfortable, I asked to speak with the manager, Nick. While he offered an apology, he took zero proactive steps to salvage the experience or rectify a glaring failure in hospitality. In the restaurant industry, true service recovery means stepping up to win back an unsatisfied guest. Yet he offered nothing to make the situation right As for the food itself during Houston Restaurant Weeks: the portions were decent, but the culinary quality was entirely unremarkable. At best, a 5 out of 10. When you spend your hard earned money to support a restaurant, the bare minimum expectation is to be treated with basic human decency and professional courtesy. Being treated like an outsider while patrons all around you receive attentive service is unacceptable. I will not be returning to this location and will gladly spend my dining dollars elsewhere.

Upon arrival, I was told that I could not sit at the sushi bar and eat. If I wanted to order I had to go sit in the common area of this dining hall. After this discussion, I said fine and asked for a menu. They then told me I had to get up and order at the register and view the menu glued to the counter. They took the order of a couple who sat down maybe 2 minutes before me in front of me. I will never come back to this place. They seem to be the last man standing in this dining hall, and with this kind of customer service, they won't last much longer. It's a shame because I love the food and I am a regular at handies and aiko as well. Won't be back to any of them.

When out of town business visitors come to Houston and seek balance, this is one of those spots worth paying a visit. Having this location downtown the last couple of years has been more convenient for those working in the area. Vibe / Interior - 4.5* So how has this spot managed to compete and survive in the Houston food scene? Well, there's a lot to unpack but I will say one perspective is the effort for balance. When you walk in you will get a sense of how well it toes the line between not being too upscale and pretentious yet not solely casual when it comes to the vibe. Someone in a business suit will fit in just as well as someone in a soccer jersey catching the World Cup. Food & Drink - 4* Balance shows up here too. They have a good selection of options from starters such as sticky ribs, bang bang shrimp, smoked pork belly, or maybe some oysters, poke, or kung pao calamari? For entrees you can go a little lighter with a salad or fresh fish or dive off the deep end with a chicken fried steak or pork chop. Whiskey, wine, or beer? Or a cocktail? They have a bit of anything you may fancy. Their cocktails aren't overly creative but they have plenty of the classics. I'm not going to sit here and say that any of their dishes will be the best in town. What I will say is they do tend to be above average. Again, it's about choice and balance. Service - 4* I've not experienced bad service here. The servers are always attentive and check in frequently. Most will make good recommendations dependent on what you're looking for. If there's only one area that I've found can be a little lagging sometimes is the close out. While they do check in during your visit, getting the bill/check and getting out can be a bit slow, but it isn't terrible. Cost/Pricing - 3.75* I'm not going to say their pricing is excellent, but it finds balance again. They aren't unapproachable but they aren't the cheapest. They do tend to deliver good portion sizes and higher quality than other establishments for what they serve. Overall - 4* Support local establishments, especially when visiting such a diverse city like Houston. If you find yourself downtown looking for an approachable restaurant where all are welcome, pay a visit here!
