This is a great New Mexican restaurant in Omaha (although they have other locations) with a huge menu and drink menu. The chips and salsa are complimentary and can be refilled. There are two options for guacamole as an appetizer, one that comes with other veggies mixed in. We ordered the plain guacamole which needed some salt. I have ordered a few things here, and everything was good. I ordered the Mole Poblano enchilada, which was unique. It was cheese enchiladas with pork and mole sauce on the top. I have recommended this restaurant to numerous friends as a good alternative to La Mesa. The staff are friendly and attentive. read more

My wife and I have been to El Muchacho Alegre many times with our family and our friends. This is one of our favorite restaurants to frequent. The service is always top notch and the food is great. Honestly, we would be happy just eating the chips and salsa and drinking margaritas. However, everything we have ordered from the menu has been fantastic. My favorite is the Fajitas Texanas which is a combination of steak, chicken, and shrimp. The flavor is excellent. My wife loves the enchiladas verdes. We always walk out with left overs for lunch the following day which is a nice bonus. This place is getting so popular that they are opening a second location. I'm glad to see a local restaurant that is thriving. read more

With a new location coming to Gretna we wanted a sneak peak. The food and drinks were great but the service stole the show, it's been a long time since I raved about service at a restaurant. The moment you sit down you are greeted and chips/salsa is in front of you. We watched this happen over and over again and employees hustled no matter what role. Please do yourself a favor and give this place a try! A welcome addition to Omaha. Food is delicious and prices are extremely affordable. Chips and salsa were a great start, and we also tried the guacamole, highly recommend! The chips are thin and crispy and allow the salsa to shine, which is very flavorful! We all had different margaritas and they were all good, particularly the jalapeño margarita (but no spice!) I had the oasis margarita which was pretty to look at and tasted great! Moving onto entrees, we all got something we enjoyed and almost all of us had leftovers to boot! Very highly recommend giving this place a shot! read more

They have a great selection of food. I got the Tacos al carbon and my wife got al pastor. Both excellent, with a good potion of rice, beans, and standard taco fixings. We both got margaritas- mine was the top shelf, which was very good classic margarita with a good amount of tequila! My oldest got a seafood burrito, which he said was fantastic with their queso. My middle got the chicken taco and quesadilla, both of which he said were some of the best he's had. The youngest ordered the cheese quesadilla, beans, and Mexican coke - I think the coke bottle alone made it her favorite spot now. All three kids said the ice cream was great and they loved all the toppings. Check this place out! read more

I'm giving it a 3 because we have been here about 5 times and the food is very good. The fajitas are excellent. The chips are warm and the salsa is very flavorful. They have always brought us a second round if they say we were low on chips and salsa. We have always had great service on FRIDAY evenings. Now for the bad part- we went Saturday night - 7-15. Worst server ever. When she did come by she was always in a hurry. Forgot my friends queso dip- completely and we didn't have time to ask for it because she never came back until the end! No refills on water or iced tea, didn't ask if we wanted a 2nd drink for those having a drink, didn't bring silverware then didn't bring enough sets. Had to ask for our bill at the front because she didn't return. Then she looked at us because she didn't even remember waiting on us! I wonder why? Our daughter was server in college- we tip well, usually!! Last night she got zero. She didn't do a thing to earn anything. Very frustrating because we like this place. It will be hard for me to go back. She ruined our experience. read more

My boyfriend and I decided to try something new and close to home today and oh my gosh! This place did not disappoint! The food was filling and amazing we had the California burrito which is massive! And the fajita quesadilla also quite large and delicious! The ambiance was very nice it's comfortable and very authentic feeling! And the service!
