This is a fast food chicken and pork restaurant that has an Island flair. They have good portion sizes. All the chicken has teriyaki sauce, which isn't too heavy. You can get some on the side if you like. They have a few pork items and also green salads & macaroni salad. We sat inside where there's plenty of room and the service is very helpful. We ended with a Dole soft serve pineapple, non-dairy, non Gluten frozen treat! I have had Hawaiian Bris catering and while it was delicious, I thought I need to try it fresh and hot. So today I went and it was awesome. The menu is short, quick to the point. The cashier explained how the foods come and the sides perfectly and professionally. It took about 6 minutes to get our order and we enjoyed it. As someone born and raised in Hawaiʻi, I had to come try this place. We got the "Honolulu chicken" which is a garlicky marinated chicken, and the "luau pork" with their rice and Mac salad. Their marinated chicken was very tasty, and we liked their Mac salad! Also got their dole whip, which was yummy! But honestly, the luau pork was dry and not that tasty. Also, I would've loved to see some legit local food that is often served in plate lunches, which wasn't the case because there's no such thing as "Honolulu chicken" in Hawaiʻi and luau pork is called Kalua pig, so if you're gonna do it, make it right and call it the correct name. This was my first visit at this location. Overall pretty good. Nothing spectacular, but nothing horrible. I ended up choosing two different dishes with the rice and mac & cheese. They were good and I appreciate there wasn't any breading on the meat and the portions were very good but I felt like the sauces could've been more flavorful. Both of them were better than OK but not great. I'd probably come back again and try something else. She explained the menu and included descriptions of the meals. I ordered the regular size lunch which included a ball of rice and macaroni salad. You are allowed to choose two meats which was nice since I could do a little sampling. I chose Hulu Huli Chicken which is their most popular. It's teriyaki basically. It was very good, not slopped with sauce. Maybe mixed vegetables would have been nice, but no big deal. I also ordered Kilauea Chicken which is sweet and spicy, said to have a kick. It had a very subtle kick, the kind that should please anyone except the most sensitive people to spiciness. The rice is sticky and tasted fresh. The whole meal tasted fresh. I stumbled across this place when I was in this area of town today. Oh my gosh, the last time I had a Hawaiian plate was in Maui and this was spot on. I had the Huli Huli chicken plate and it was YUM! I will be coming back absolutely! The only downside was the dining area is very loud because of their high ceiling and they have no insulation so everything is noisy in there. You can barely hear the Hawaiian music that they are playing over the chatter from the lack of any sound barrier. But the people were pleasant, and the food was wonderful. Last night we ordered online for pick up. When I arrived and saw that they had a drive-through I thought that I would be able to just pick up through the drive-through, but was told I actually needed to go inside. I thought that was kind of strange, but I parked and went in where I had to wait a for several minutes while three employees stood at the counter trying to figure out someone's order. So none of that was a positive I was disappointed in the food that I received. The dish that I ordered that was supposed to be spicy (Kilauea chicken) had no spice to it at all. The veggies seemed to have no seasoning on them, not even salt. And had I known that the food would come with rice underneath (as shown in the photo) I would have chosen to substitute something for the rice ball. The container was very full and because it came with the rice ball I was surprised to see the additional rice underneath! The macaroni salad was also extremely bland.
