When you are hungry for a Philly cheesesteak sandwich, Pepper Jax will fit the bill. Although there are bowls, wraps and different protein options, my go to is always a classic beef Philly cheesesteak with onions, green peppers and mushrooms. Prepared as you wait in line to pay and order sides, I ordered fries and a drink, I like being able to see the preparation and care put into the making of my sandwich. Fast, efficient, and always good--Pepper Jax has figured out quality control and trained their service attendants in the finer skills of cooking, seasoning and sharing a friendly smile. My order came in just under $15 which seems to be a bit higher than my last visit. (The reason I went with four stars). Parking was ample, restrooms were clean and there was a steady crowd at this location on a Saturday lunch visit. I will be back, but may order takeout to cut down on the expense of fries and soda.......or load my wallet before I leave home.

    Dry and crusty

This used to be my favorite place for years and years. Shame it's gone so far downhill. I started to notice a decline a few years ago but it's steadily gotten worse. Dry chewy meat. Stale crumbly buns. My husband used to love the steak bowls but he gave up on those altogether. I don't know if it's nostalgia for me at this point or what but I can't seem to give up on this place. Well, unfortunately tonight they have let me down for the last time. Dry, crusty and gross. And I swear the price goes up every time. Very expensive. The only reason I gave any stars is because the staff was very friendly. I am very sad that this place is so bad now. I won't be going back.

Love the Loaded Nachos!! I always get steak with rice added. Their rewards program is great too!

Filling fireball Steak salad with all the veggies and black beans. Order of fresh French fries for some indulgence.

I love PepperJax. Sometime you're trying to eat healthy but just need a heavy salad with a few fries! There's enough to make it two meals. This place in particular was clean. Staff was good. When I wanted extra veggies they didn't hesitate to add them. Food was hot and fresh.

Great family spot; especially on Wednesday when kids meals are $0.99 with adult meal. Gluten-free friendly as they scrape the grill, change gloves and pull veggies and toppings from clean containers. Fries share space with mini-corn dogs and chicken strips so don't eat them if celiac or gf intolerant.

The shrimp did not disappoint in this rice bowl! It was very good. They are always quick with the cook line and very nice!

The seasonal shrimp did not disappoint in this rice bowl! It was very good. Cooked just right, too. They are always quick with the cook line and very nice while asking what I want to eat!

    Great deal on Valentine's Day!

If you think that this is a four-star restaurant, try the loaded steak fries. They're life changing. I could eat a triple portion.

However, when I tried them for myself outside of catering, I actually was semi pleasantly surprised with the options on offer. Yes, they do have those basic sandwiches that were catered in (if you like that, I mean) - but they also have a lot of other items you can add onto sandwiches when you order for yourself. I tried the BBQ Pulled Pork sandwich, and added mayo and black olives, and removed the onions. It was actually pretty delicious, but still kind of basic when compared to other sandwich shops in town (Potbelly is my favorite of the similar ones to Pickleman's) I also ordered the BBQ Pulled Pork Mac and Cheese (I know, more pulled pork??). It was alright, but was cold when I got it home, so maybe the container they put it in doesn't retain heat so well. Basic Mac and cheese with a tiny bit of pulled pork on top and bbq sauce. If you couldn't tell, I ordered a few side things in case the sandwich was gross. I also grabbed the Broccoli Cheese soup. Now, when it comes to broccoli cheese soups, the one I measure them all against is the Panera one that comes in a bread bowl. And this was nothing compared to that. Kind of bland and also cold. Now I know you're saying "couldn't you just heat up these cold items?" And to that I say "I shouldn't have to do that, when I literally live a block from the store!" The one bright spot was that the cookies I ordered I ordered were actually pretty good - soft, flavorful, and pretty inexpensive. I would get those again, but not much else from Pickleman's.

The restaurant itself played music and was very very clean!! Food itself was fresh but average. Wheat or white bread are the beginning options. Toasted to them means grilled, whereas a "cold cut" is still toasted bread. It's a good thing to know going into ordering decisions. I ordered the Italian sub and it was ok- I think it would've been better without the grill because the oils from the meat had soaked the bread. Boyfriend, C's Review: Service was prompt and professional. The restaurant itself was very cleaned and organized. Food made fresh although overhyped in my opinion. I ordered the club cold cut and it came out with the bread toasted and made it dry which we now know is their normal. I do not care for toasted sandwiches. With so many other sub sandwich places in Omaha this wouldn't be my go-to. It was nice to finally give this place a try! They do support Down Syndrome Adoption which is amazing and something I did not know before going into the restaurant!!

My wife and I both ordered the Everett's #2 with pulled chicken, coleslaw, and BBQ sauce. Everything just worked together perfectly. The chicken was tender, the slaw added the right crunch, and the bun tied it all together. It was one of those sandwiches where after the first bite you just look at each other and know you made the right choice. We also ordered the Saucy Rossy wings and they were the perfect heat level for both of us. Not so mild that they're boring and not so hot that you're suffering. Pro tip: get them fried and grilled. The extra texture and flavor are absolutely worth it. My wife is a total Brussels sprouts snob and she was absolutely in love with theirs. The funny part is that I'm usually not much of a Brussels sprouts person, but I kept asking for more off her plate. That alone should tell you how good they were. The fries were okay. Nothing that stole the show, but nothing to complain about either. The service wasn't the best during our visit, but they also had a 30-person table they were dealing with, so it was completely understandable. Even with that, the food was so good that it's already a top 3 meal for my wife. We'll definitely be thinking about those sandwiches, wings, and Brussels sprouts until we're back, and I don't think that'll take very long.

I ordered a Gluten Free #6, Mike's way, and I was pleasantly surprised. I think they've improved their gluten free subs, because it didn't instantly crumble and fall apart with all the sauces on it. The roast beef was good; truly just a simple sandwich. It's pretty much just meats, cheese, and a couple veggie toppings, but Mike's Way can really elevate the sandwich.

I'm sorry, Danny DeVito - I love you, but I did NOT love Jersey Mike's. You can be their celebrity…read morespokesperson if it pays the bills, but you steered me wrong this time, Danny. All joking aside, I had not visited Jersey Mike's in the past, because I am a very big sauce girl and had seen that Jersey Mike's has no sauces. They have mayonnaise and olive oil and vinegar, etc. That is the extent of their sauce game. And they have no toppings aside from tomatoes and onions and simple things like that. Not a sandwich place after my heart, I must say. I am a Potbelly or Subway girl for the above reasons. Mama's Meatball at Potbelly - yummmm! And that Sweet Onion Chicken Teriyaki at Subway - I would eat it even knowing there's yoga mat in the bread. Jersey Mike's does have a nice vibe going in their shop, kind of like you're at a baseball game or something with the red, white, and blue color palette. But then there are pictures of beaches and things, so that was a little confusing. I got the Turkey Provolone sandwich to try for my first (and last) visit. I don't like tomatoes or onions, but they did have black olives, so I added those. They have no sauces, as I said, except mayo, so that's what I ordered and I got a LOT of it since it was the only "moisturizing" aspect of this dry turkey sandwich. Even with the onslaught of mayo that I added to this sandwich, it was still somehow very dry in the end. I think it's because they put WAY too much meat on the sandwich (which is hand cut on a slicer, and I do appreciate that). But the absurd amount of meat just soaked up all the toppings and made it dry and unappetizing. My husband got the tuna salad sandwich, and that was actually pretty good (he gave me half of his since I didn't like mine at all). It did have some flavor and wasn't super dry like mine. So because his sandwich was good, I am upgrading my review from a two star to a three. Overall, I would say to skip Jersey Mike's if you're not a fan of pretty basic/bland sandwiches. If you are a fan of those, then Jersey Mike's might be for you, and that's ok.
