Steak picado dinner plate with rice and beans
Elijah D.

Wanted to try some local Mexican eats, and this place ended up being worth the try. We had plates of steak picado for our respective dishes - dinner plate with rice and beans for me and steak chilaquiles for the spouse, mole-style. The cheese enchilada I also ordered could have been more hot and fresh when it was served, but it was basically a layer on my entree. In a vacuum, this place seems like it can easily be one of the better Mexican establishments to eat at. It doesn't break the bank, and the aim of their menu is to feed you with generous portions. I've had better. But it was fairly apparent that if you're local or semi local, El Meson would likely make a regular out of you - escpially if you want to dine in for some Mexican eats. Perfectly, middle of the road.

A good Mexican restaurant in a strip mall. There are a bunch of them around and all have been pretty good. The interior is typical bright colors and a row of TVs down the middle. The service was good. She was friendly and stopped by a few times to take care of us. The food came out fast and was very hot. It tasted really good. I got chicken chimichangas. They were smothered in cheese and came with beans and rice as well as a salad with sour cream. My wife got cheese enchilada and a bean burrito from the Ala carte menu. Hers was a little salty. Mine was very good and tasted fresh. The prices weren't bad and overall the experience was good.

I was looking for a quick Mexican restaurant on my way home from Columbus, IN. I had to stop at Walmart on Emerson and El Meson was only a few blocks away. This was my first visit to El Meson and it was way beyond the peak lunch hour. I was greeted by a nice server and seated immediately in a booth as requested. Four-top tables with banquette seating was also a seating option. The interior walls have large, bold, colorful landscape scenes or a graphic floral scene and the booths have various colorful, Mexican landscapes on the booth backs. I briefly scanned the full menu, which appeared to have all the standard entrees, and went directly to the lunch menu. The lunch menu is served Monday through Saturday from 11:00 - 3:00 p.m. I selected the Speedy Gonzales with one crisp taco, one enchilada both with pork and option of rice or refried beans. If you prefer to substitute chicken for ground beef there is a $1.00 upcharge or $1.99 for grilled steak, shredded beef or pork. Charro beans can be substituted for a small fee off $.99 upcharge. The taco shell was fresh and crisp and both the taco and enchilada was filled with a nice amount of pork. The pork had a touch of sweetness as well as the enchilada sauce. The refried beans were creamy and smothered in cheese. I enjoyed my lunch entree and would order again. My server was attentive without being offensive and always close by. Many times when it isn't peak hours servers get relaxed and provide horrible service which wasn't the case with Eduardo. If I was in the neighborhood again, I wouldn't object to visiting again.

I cannot believe the amount of meat in my fajitas! Most meat I've ever gotten and on special the month of September for $7.99?! Score! This is the newest location of El Meson in Franklin Township. We stopped in on a busy Friday night. There were only two unoccupied tables in the whole place. When I first walked in the noticed the way-too-bright lights and how chilly it was. We were seated right away and given light and crispy tortilla chips with perfect salsa that had just the right hint of spicey. We decided on the fajitas for our meal and when they came I was surprised at how huge they were. The fajitas are really flavorful for a chain Mexican place and the portions are BIG. My date ordered the Carlos Tacos which are a version of street tacos. They are really good! I give this place two thumbs up. Will definitely go back.

Lots of tv's to keep you entertained!

We were seated in their outdoor area where the heaters were not turned on and the day had been rainy and cold so most of the table was cold throughout our meal. The service was a bit slow but it being cinco de mayo, we understood that things may move a little slower than any other day. They had some specials for the day but I got my old faithful, Maria's Enchiladas with steak. It comes with rice and beans and it's just so so soooo good!!! I also got the Arroyo Margarita which was good but def could tell they were adding a bit more sour mix to the drink. Overall, it was a good experience but I will try to come back again on a day that is not as busy.

Even with the rush, I was able to snag a seat quite quickly. I was so impressed by how efficiently the staff cleared and prepared my table; it's those little touches of attentiveness that really make a difference. I decided to keep things classic and ordered the Asada Tacos. The service was remarkably swift my order arrived in under ten minutes, which is exactly the kind of efficiency I adore. While the initial presentation was a bit more understated than I anticipated, the flavor was a total 8/10 triumph! The staff was also incredibly accommodating when it came to my preferences; they brought over a lovely selection of chips and sauces, but were perfectly gracious when I mentioned I prefer to avoid the heat. These are truly some of the best tacos I've had the pleasure of trying lately. I will most certainly be a regular here!

You have to buy a basket of chips, but it's very inexpensive and so worth it for the salsa bar! Lastly, the Al pastor is the bomb. The restaurant is sleek and has a cool vibe, but we immediately realized it was not going to be what we thought of when we saw "street tacos" mentioned during Google search. It's more of a metropolitan American Soul fusion place, with a heavy emphasis on loaded, uniquely flavored tacos instead of traditional Mexicana. The server was wonderful in explaining their menu and gave multiple recommendations, which I went with all of her great suggestions once I told her what I was craving. My husband didn't enjoy his appetizer, saying it tasted too sweet instead of savory for him, but the server was great at being aware of our plates and took the appetizer off our bill when she noticed he wasn't eating it without us even mentioning it. I got three different tacos, and the only one I didn't enjoy was due to the Mac n cheese that was stuffed in it. It just didn't taste or feel right having a taco with macaroni that was pushed in so densely that it became a sponge. The other two were great! My husband gave his burrito a 3/5, as he felt it was too much one note. Overall, don't come here if you're looking for upscale Mexicana, but instead want to enjoy interesting fusion flavors and fun cocktails. Great place for a group outing or celebration!

Driving through…read morehere, you see the blight and the abandonment of this area of Indianapolis since the decline of manufacturing. Then again, it's not an uncommon story unfortunately- large parts of the city forgotten in terms of economic development but then suddenly needed during times of campaigning. Had taken Keystone and then Rural Street to get here, and the potholes are not kind. But, we had this place on our list and were determined to make it here at least once. Tlaolli stood out for its vegan offerings. Plenty of vegan taco options, birria (an absolute rarity to see vegan birria), and torta. They offer soy chorizo, jackfruit, and king oyster mushrooms as protein options. The exterior is colorful, and inside there are seating options. We had gotten our food to go, so I cannot comment too much on the service. Had placed our order online, and the food was ready within the estimated time in the order. We ordered the vegan birria tacos ($17.99), the vegan torta ($10.99 base but added soy chorizo, which was $3.99), and the no-no-no taco ($5.99). Our total with fees was approximately $45. Tlaolli offers outdoor seating, so when the weather is nicer this would be a good place to come. Next to the East Washington IPL branch, Tlaolli has a colorful green exterior with neon signage. Food: The food was very good. The proteins were nicely seasoned and juicy. The highlight for me was the birria tacos and the consome. My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed it. 10/10. This is a great local business in the area to support: offers a diverse menu of options with food that is comforting and tasty.
