El Encanto? More like El EncantGO on weekdays. It's a high crime for a restaurant to be serving up this good a quesadilla and not be open 8 days a week. Being closed on Mondays and Tuesdays severely lowers my window of opportunity for me to stop in when I'm in town. Not to mention a lot of the times the reason I am in town is to eat here. The quesadilla with carne asada is by far the best quesadilla I've ever had in my life and as legend has it, even has inspired a few Nickelback songs. Not a great experience when you order something different than your favorite dish. I tried the pollo bowl special,but this concoction was a watery mess of unknown things. It had a soupy base with lots of cheese,too spicy and had to be returned. My second dish was the pollo wrap which was poorly constructed,had too much sauce and lettuce inside and was very average. The managers of El Encanto Dos are fools. Nearly empty restaurant and we asked to sit outside and we are told, you can sit outside but no one will serve you there. Very charming, unique place. Chips and salsa were tasty. Hubby had the special, seafood enchilada, which he enjoyed. Not a lot of seafood but well done. Came here with a group of seven, a few of us our 1st time here. I feel really bad for restaurant owners nowadays. I have a couple of issues with this place while here for dinner. While waiting for out table, we got a pitcher of margaritas ($36) and 1 person got a frozen margarita. We got seated at our table fairly quick. Husband tasted wife's frozen margarita, it actually had tequila in it. He joked with the waitstaff when ordering 2nd pitcher of margaritas asking if they can actually put some tequila in it this time. First fail: waitress response was: "well the margaritas are watered down, but you can buy extra shots of tequila to add to it". Totally shocked at her answer, we asked her to explain and she said "they use so much ice it gets watered down". Second fail: I ordered the suggested Pollo Fundito, another person in our party ordered the same thing, but Small size. Food arrived and both of us received what looked like the EXACT SAME THING. I inquired and waitress had no response. The manager stopped by our table asking if everything if OK, I asked him to come over and I expressed my observation that the 2 plates looked identical. he was nice enough to explain that there is "only a 2oz. difference between the two sizes". I pointed out they look IDENTICAL, and (Third fail!), his response was basically that he didn't care and had NO response and walked away. Too bad, NONE of us will be coming back. Good luck taking shortcuts and cheating the customers that are still willing to choose your restaurant, your choices will only hurt your future. BTW, the Pollo Fundito had super dry chicken, and combined with all the cream cheese, was extremely dry. Nothing special about it. Your salsas that you provide with your chips (mild, medium and spicy) are not good. The medium green salsa was unanimously gross with all at our table, mild is like a spaghetti sauce/ketchup, and spicy, well was the best, and thats not saying much. read more

Pure disrespect from staff. When someone says split the check for two people it's for a reason. Pretending to ignore people about the check and then getting a smart mouth about it as we're leaving. The 3 star rating is appropriate. Biggest issue was service- very slow. We ordered an appetizer and the waitress didn't come back to get our dinner order until well after the appetizer plate was wiped clean. And then either the kitchen was slow or our order wasn't placed timely because the entrees were also delayed - our entrees arrived 1 hour and 15 minutes after we initially sat down. Basic. Not authentic. My family loves this place, and were excited to take me since I've lived in LA and had authentic Mexican food for years. But seriously....this place sucks. I will say- The location is really great and the outside is so pretty and well maintained. The parking lot is huge and accessible. When we walked in, a family was fighting with the hostess and she didn't seem to care. I guess they made a reservation and the hostess was practically rolling her eyes at them trying to find the name it was under. Then we sat at the bar. And it was so dated and gross. The seating was old metal chairs with blankets on top????? An attempt to be more authentic had me wondering how often those things get cleaned. The bar also had the smallest little TVs, they need to update that. And now the food... unauthentic. No flavor. Basic. Not good. Don't come here if you're used to real Mexican food or like things spicy and full of different flavors. read more

This review is about one of the staff i encountered, not the mostly decent food. Disappointing experience with the female manager on duty today. She was rude, abrupt, hostile, and argumentative with me when I came by to get a replacement meal for one that was originally done wrong. The other manager, he was very nice. But if this restaurant hangs their hat on the female manager that was there today... I feel sorry for anyone else who has to interact with her. read more

We had a huge family dinner one night while on our visit to Arizona. The restaurant is a bit out of the way but its quintessentially Arizona Mexican style. My children loved exploring the old antique southwestern stuff outside. Its a giant restaurant. It more than accommodated our large party plus a few more. There were other areas of the place that I didn't even explore. It seems to be a very popular place. It was packed! Service also did not lack at any moment either. The Salsa was delicious. Some of the best I've had out in public. We could not get enough of it. I ordered the Shrimp Cocktail. It was full of very fresh veggies. But that was about it. It was a little bland. But it was very fresh. I guess I expected the Mexican style of Shrimp cocktail in the tomato juice and avocado chunks with pico de gallo. But no it was veggies piled up with Shrimp. Good but not what I expected. We had a great family dinner. Its a very nice spacious dinning space and the grounds are beautiful, with plenty of parking. read more

Went here for dinner one time and was great. Came for lunch today and total of 2 other customers here. Server was awesome but food was awful! Fajitas were literally burnt (stuck to bottom of pan) and for $24 should have been simple beef & chicken mix. My son's food was $17.99 and literally got a small pc of chicken cut length wise with beans and other garbage fillers. Daughter's was simple quesadilla and watery chicken on the side. No wonder friends are saying how bad it's gotten! Landscaping is a mess too, although it was way better this visit than the last. Wall or table had a bad odor too & had to swap out my chair due to sticky food on it. So sad! I don't usually write negative reviews but, just stay away from this location at lunch! We used to love El Encanto. During the Pandemic, we went regularly to support the business. We rarely go out during the Holidays. So, it was a bit if a shock when we could finally relax and go out. Our visit was not satisfactory. I declared my food allergy as usual, during the ordering process. It has always been accomodated. But, I was told they could not accommodate my needs. This came from the Management level. Needless to say, we left with food for my friends. That food was very mediocre. But, truly our evaluation of the food my have been colored by our need to leave, due to one of us unable to enjoy dinner. My recommendation is that if you like expensive mediocre food, this is your place . Just remember, there are no accommodations for food allergies. read more

This place has been violently hit by the pandemic, and it shows. The limited menu, the quiet tables and the lukewarm staff do nothing to create an uplifting, fun atmosphere during these crazy times. Came here on a recommendation from our daughter. We came during covid 19 so we had to use curbside pick up. I had the asada burrito with the red sauce which was very good. My wife had two shredded beef tacos which she enjoyed also. We ordered extra chips and salsa and the others in the group had various items also. Everyone was real happy with their meal. Curbside pickup for four. The food was prepared to perfection. Guacamole was being fought over till the last bite. The two beef tacos were chock full of beef. Two carne asada burritos were filled well. Pollo fundido practically used the entire chicken. You cannot get this much delicious food for the price they charge anywhere else. The food here is very tasty...the atmosphere feels like you're at abuelas casa...especially the outdoor parts. Was here in the winter but can easily see the patio being a hit for afternoon drinks. As for the location, I think it's 30-40 min from Phoenix...even further from Scottsdale. I'll be back though should I ever be back in the area. Maybe there's an El Encanto UNO that's closer to civilization! read more
