I have loved El Chico since I was a child. It's always a stop for me when I go back to Oklahoma to see my mom, but this particular time, they really impressed me. I brought my celiac daughter. Not only do they have a gluten free menu, the manager came to the table and explained the various gluten free options to us, how to order an item from the child's menu so that it was gluten free, and brought out a special bowl of gf queso for the kid. The food was what it always has been and hopefully will be, satisfying Tex-Mex. Seriously, any gluten free people in, around, or driving through Ardmore should consider a stop at El Chico. They'll take care of you and you'll like it. The table chips are gluten free. So are the margaritas and guacamole. That alone is worth a visit. read more

This place served food that wasn't even fit for my dog! Th cook had the nerve to try & cover up old double dipped in oil shrimp flautas that looked as though they were cooked the day before. The one star I gave is for the service & greeting. Also, the margarita I ordered was horrible & over priced. I asked for a swirl , but got something that tasted like grapefruit juice $ no alcohol. my daughter and I are gluten free, i know when you go out and have to inform the business sometimes it can be annoying to have to make sure everything is right, but the staff was so calm and helpful about the situation i had a decent sized family with me. My server was Serenity I believe, not an easy name to forget lol she was very attentive the whole time never had an empty drink, never had to ask for anymore appetizers, the manager George was handling our food everything came out at a good timing and hot food always great, the rest of the staff i also noticed would jump in and help if they needed like helping bring the food out, the vibes were just comforting thank you El Chico! My husband, me, and our 2 year old daughter ate here last night. It was by far the best service we have had in quite some time. JB was our waitress. She was outstanding! Our glasses were never empty, we constantly had cheese dip, chips, and salsa. We never had to request for more of anything. Our food came out so fast. My husband ordered the enchiladas and I ordered the combination fajitas (which came out steaming)... I was so very impressed. And when we were taken care of and her other tables were taken care of, you didn't see her standing around chatting, she got the sweeper out and was sweeping the floors!!! She was very nice and chipper, she loves her job which is always good to have in a waitress. I would recommend anyone to come to this place. read more

The food was really good once we got it. Our server was very slow. He didn't refill drinks until asked and that is a big pet peeve of mine. I ordered a beer and didn't ask me if I wanted a mug for it. Not sure if he was new or not but they were not busy. I wish I had read the reviews and I would have asked for Stephanie!!!!! The bathroom was ok but the toilet had water or something else not sure all around the base of it so that was gross. I had to wash off my shoes before I took it out side. Staff very friendly but lacking in other areas. Cheese dip tasted a little funky and salsa was not very good either. Food was tepid. Had three different types of burritos and the chicken one was pretty good but the bean one was bland anad the beef one had so much pepper in it that it was bitter. I like hot food (pepper hot) but not so much it's bitter. Tried to use salt shaker and it was one big mass of salt. Nothing AT ALL would come out. We call in large orders on a regular basis. The food is great when they get the order right. The past three times I've ordered, they have totally messed up our order. The sad thing is, I had the waitress read the order back to me and made corrections as I talked to her. I called and talked to the manager on duty and she said she would fix it. I went up there to pick it up and she showed me a piece of paper with an order written on it. It was wrong and not what the waitress read back to me. She tried to tell me that this is what was read back to me over the phone. I told her that it wasn't and that after I corrected her on my order, the waitress read it back correctly. The manager had a smirk on her face and basically tried to make it out to be my fault and made is sound like I wasn't telling the truth. I told her that the waitress wasn't being honest. GROSS!!! The queso is nothing but WATER!! It is so watered down there is NO flavor!! I ordered nachos but the "nacho machine" was broke. This is suppose to be mexican food. You don't need a nacho machine to make nachos. The entrees literally did not taste as good as a tv dinner. They must be made up in advance, frozen, and taken out the day of planned service. Did not see much other choice in Ardmore for mexican food but next time will drive further down the road. read more

To start with just because you give it a Mexican name dose not meat it is worthy to be called a mexican resteraunt. Their salsa tast like tomatoe sauce with a little pepper in it. There were six of us and we all left hungry and very disatisfied. Taco Bell would have been a better choice.
