We were driving through on our way to Frisco and decided to stop based off of the Yelp reviews. Our criteria is always good reviews, good food pictures and a decent wine list. Cafe Alley ticked all of the boxes. When we got there we were prepared for a bit of a wait, there were a lot of people there on a Thursday evening. When it was our turn to put our name on the wait list the a waitress came by and said there is a table for two right here ready to go. So we were able to sit down right away which was wonderful after a long day of driving. Cafe Alley has a warm and inviting atmosphere and everyone working there was very polite and happy to help. It was quiet enough to hold a nice conversation. We started with the Smoked Trout dip and crackers. The dip was very tasty and the crackers were house seasoned with just a little spice to them. I did think the crackers were too salty but that is just a personal preference. For dinner I had the chefs special which was a diver scallops, shrimp and pancetta pasta which was super fresh and worth the calories. We got a piece of the carrot cake to go because we were absolutely stuffed and man was it worth it. I highly recommend trying the carrot cake. read more

In Ardmore for a meeting and our group of 16 had dinner ar Cafe Alley. We were in a private room with an industrial feel, except for the two large screen TVs and overhead lighting. The venue appears to be an old rail yard warehouse. The railroad tracks are just to the east of the building. The building and the interior design are cool. The restaurant has a fun vibe. When I started to take photos, my phone was dead. Not wanting to be a bother, I asked the person next to me to borrow their phone to shoot my entree, skipping photos of the appetizers, and dessert. For starters on our end of the table, we ordered fried green beans and queso. The fried green beans were good and enjoyable. I did not read the name or description of the queso, but it was interesting, tasty, and very good. It appeared to me that they had put the queso on top of barbecue sause and then topped the queso with pulled pork. It was a good combination of blended flavors and textures. The accompanying chips and salsa were good. For my entree, I ordered the six oz. Filet with French fries and the Alley salad. The salad was a tossed garden salad that came cold and crispy. The filet was cooked to order, nicely seasoned and topped with worstheshie whipped butter. The butter was ok, but it was more of a distraction than a compliment to the steak. The beer battered fries were good. For dessert, I had the chocolate silk pie, and it was outstanding. The servers worked very hard and provided excellent service. The overall dining experience was good. The food quality was good. Cafe Alley is a solid four star restaurant. read more

I ordered the Santa Fe chicken which comes layered with a lot of cheese. The entrée comes with your choice of two sides and there are a ton of options. (Fries, mashed potatoes, Mac and cheese, seasonal veg, soup of the day, salad etc) I chose the skillet cornbread and sautéed spinach. I ate here for a group meeting in a private room we were hosting for RGB Cataract and LASIK. Appetizers were pretty good- green beans were good but I wasn't a fan of the dip because it seemed to have a bit of horseradish in it which I personally don't like; fire crackers were tasty by themselves and with the chicken salad; calamari was just so so. We had reserved one of the banquet rooms which provided for an intimate evening with good friends and excellent food. I had the bone-in rib eye steak special, which came with two sides. The steak was one of the best I've had in a long time. It was fork-tender, juicy, and flavorful. The sides, including the skillet cornbread, were very tasty. I topped off the evening with one of their homemade desserts - carrot cake - delicious!. I will say that the menu is a bit on the pricey side, but was just fine for me as this was a special occasion. To start with, our server Maili made us feel so relaxed as first time customers. She was very busy with the opening crowd extending out the door but she walked us through the cafe offerings in polite fashion. The food lived up to the hype we had heard from friends who we trust on all things good to eat. My wife ordered the chicken fried steak with gravy on the side accompanied with loaded mashed potatoes and a salad. The steak was way too much for her but a good thing for me the next day. Her favorite dish was the potatoes which needed no gravy. I decided on a London Broil which I have not ordered since the 80"s in Chicago. I was pleased with it and it gave me the confidence to maybe try a more upscale steak next visit. I did have the same sides as the wife with the addition of the skillet cornbread, very good but reminded me of popular box brand with its sweet overtones. If Maili made any mistake at all, it was not telling me Carrot cake is the house specialty and I had no room for that after the cornbread. The place was so packed with guest we did not observe a lot of the building and decor but did notice it was not as loud and chattery as some of todays dining spots, a real plus. Was passing through Ardmore for a river weekend getaway and decided to go with Cafe Alley for dinner. The whole experience was 5 stars and it was busy when we went and it only was only just open for a few mins when we arrived. In Ardmore for work and didn't want to eat at a chain restaurant. Saw the reviews on Yelpand decided to give Café Ali a try. One of the best decisions I have ever made. It's in a unique building which used to be an old meat processing plant. Rooms are kind of separated with multiple dining rooms and a bar area. All of the employees from the hostess to my server to the manager were super friendly. I was fortunate enough to get Brent as a server and he was awesome. he recommended I try the soup of the day which was the cream of green chili and this was a very unique take on one of my favorites. Kind of like a Mexican chili Verde with a cream base. I asked for some crackers to go with it and he brought me out the special crackers that go with their trout dip. They were spicy saltines and they were also very good. I chose the smokehouse chicken again on Brent's recommendation as I was having a tough time deciding if I wanted the pork chops or the chicken. It had a great smoky flavor and was finished at a higher heat to help crisp up the skin. The seasoning was also . Mac & cheese was on point. It was very creamy and the noodles were still on the edge of al dente, which was perfect. Even though I was absolutely stuffed, I had to try one of their house made desserts. I figured if the meal was so good then the desserts would have to be baller as well and the peanut butter deluxe certainly was! Yhere was no way I could finish the entire creamy, decadent goodness so I took it to go and finished it later that evening in my hotel room. There was no way I was going to let it go to waste. This was a very pleasant surprise to have this level of food and service in a smaller Oklahoma town. I would definitely recommend trying Café Alley if you are in the Ardmore area. read more

Not from the area, this place was recommended to us by a lady in the office at the place where we were staying as her No. 1 place to eat in Ardmore. They didn't have a waitlist, but the downtown area where it's located is nice enough, there was plenty of parking right by the restaurant, we were seated right away (3, around 6p on a Saturday), and the brick-walled vibe had a casual and fun ambiance. We ordered the Smoked Salmon Spinach Dip for the table and it bursted with savory flavor with every bite - so much so I didn't realize I didn't snap a picture of it until it was too late! If they have it (it might've been a special), it's a MUST! I ordered the Stuffed Poblano as my meal. The good thing was it was big enough for me to have two meals; other than that, I'd say it was average - I would've liked more chicken in it and about half the amount of queso smothering it. My son ordered Sweet Potato French Fries and the "side" of Iron-Skillet Cornbread with his meal. The latter truly comes to the table in an iron skillet, is made with Jalapeños, and was super crumbly (the latter not ideal). If you can get past the falling apart part, the rest was tasty! BUT! Let's go back to those Sweet Potato Fries! Cooked perfectly so that all the sweet potato taste isn't fried out, not too soft and not too crispy, and with THE MOST AMAZING Marshmallow "Sauce" - THIS IS WHERE IT'S AT!
