We just had an excellent dinner at El Tapatio. The salsa was awesome. I generally don't eat it because it's way too spicey for me. However this had a great flavor with just a hint of spiciness! My friend really liked the chips as they held up to dipping and didn't break apart. My friend had the Chicken Burrito and Enchilada, with white sauce/queso rice and beans. He said it was very good and he'd definitely come back and try other menu items as well. I had the Chicken Taco and Cheese Enchiladas with White Sauce/Queso, rice and beans. Mine was excellent too! The taco was tasty although a couple pieces of chicken were a bit tough. But the flavor was great. The Cheese Enchiladas with onion were just the way I liked them. Not spicey but flavorful. The rice was very good as were the refiried beans. The servings were a good size and very filling. We had Arnold Palmer's to drink, served in nice mugs that were perfectly blended and our server kept them filled. He was new and did an excellent job! I enjoyed the brightly painted decor and art at the table. We sat at a booth that was comfortable, roomy and private. The music was at a good level. We will definitely be back! read more

The food was real average Mexican food. Almost everything served with refried beans and rice for lunch. I got the lunch chile Riano with a crispy taco. The chili Romano rice and beans were good. The crispy taco breast was a bit stale so I said that aside and ate ground meat. The service was good. The salsa served without asking is very very mild. We ask for a spicier sauce and they provided. Lol it was very spicy and very good if you like spicy. We actually mixed the two sauces together and made a bit of a medium. The place is small, but has booze where you can be a bit secluded with five backs. I didn't post any pictures of the food because the pictures I took with the lighting just didn't look very well and I didn't want to portray something not as yummy as it really is. The food was good. this is actually for the location by I-35 but they do not show up. This restaurant charges a "convenience fee" on the check for using a card. 99.9% of the world pays by card and 99.9% of the restaurants in the world absorb this fee. Really good food! I've tried several different of their menu options and it's all been delivered. My Favorite is the 3 amigos because I love a good portion of rice with my meals and this is a great choice. I also think they have good fajitas, enchilada and the best queso in town. Their salsa is good but very tomato saucy tasting. I'd choose this over casa Roma and there's a lot of locals who agree if you're trying to decide. read more

It's been 3 years since we have been to this restaurant. When we first starting going here it was great! Then, it went downhill fast. I gave them several try's & it was just terrible so I quit going. Last night we decided to give them another go and we are so glad we did! When we walked in, my favorite waitress was still there from years ago. She came up to me & told me she was just thinking about me & wondering where we went & if we were ok & gave me the biggest hug. It was so moving it brought me to tears. God gives us so many blessings when we least expect it. God is love. Bring back *hugs* So we sat down & low & behold were served the best meal we have had in a long long time. The drinks were very frozen. The best we have had this trip. This is the only Mexican place we know of that has the camarones Jalisco on the menu. I don't know of anyone else that serves it. They also use the local pork. It's very thick & tasty. So of course we had to have it as we haven't had it in over 3 years. It's served with simple iceberg lettuce, tomato & creme. Just like a BLT, Its a perfect marriage of flavors. GET IT! :)... They are also known for their chili relleno. So we also ordered chili rellenos. They gave us both the biggest chili relleno's we have ever seen covered in red & white sauce. Perfection. :).... The service was top notch. We were even served tequila shots in Champagne glasses making it feel ever more special if that's possible ;) Thank you all for the most incredible lovely dinner. The food was really good! I had the chimichanga and a mango margarita. The beef fajita meat was really good. The margarita was good, just a bit on the sweet side, i wanted more alcohol after a long day. Lol. My server was attentive and took care of me. Stopped to eat dinner at El Tapatio on our way to Norman. We were not impressed. Everything was very bland. The salsa and guacamole had no flavor. My chicken salad was terrible. There was hardly any lettuce, and the lettuce and tomatoes were not fresh. They brought out a packet of ranch dressing like you get at McDonald's...yuck! My husband had the chimichanga. The chicken was so dry you could hardly swallow. We never had our drinks refilled either. My husband finally finished off my Diet Coke, which he hates, because he couldn't get a refill. Stopped here for supper on our way through. Did not expect anything special. Me and my wife were wrong. My wife had the Chimichanga, I had the Steak Quesadilla Fajita and both meals were amazing. My wife ordered a Speedy Gonzales (enchilada, taco w/ beans) I ordered a #6 (Burrito, taco w/beans). When the plates were delivered they looked exactly alike? The difference was the enchilada was ground beef rolled in a corn tortilla and the burrito was ground beef rolled in a flour tortilla. What? Both filled with the same bland ground beef. Both meals had a red sauce, which I did not care for at all! It had too much of some spice in it, cinnamon, nutmeg something. Not spicy just flavored weird. A chile toreado would not have helped this meal. I was going to try to give this place an average, but honestly I will not return and I would definitely not recommend it to a friend. This restaurant has become our regular go to place in Ardmore. It is clean, has great prices, and yummy food! We always get the chicken fajitas - they taste fresh and have tons of flavor with different vegetables in it. I have tried the chicken chimichanga and it is also very good, it is crispy, which I like about it. I have also tried the chicken enchiladas with cheese one top instead of the red sauce, those are good if you are not trying to eat too much. The service is always quick and the people who work here always explain different items on the menu if you don't really know what it is. This is the only restaurant we go to when we are wanting to eat out because it tastes authentic and fresh every time. They also have great prices on their food compared to other restaurants in the area. read more

Stopped in based on Yelpers advice. Asked our waiter, who was very prompt and friendly, for the best dish in the house, he said Carne Tapatio, I said sold. We also tried chicken enchiladas, cheese enchiladas, chalupa and beef tacos. Food was quickly delivered, sent back one dish because it had two Chicken when needed one cheese and one chicken enchilada but no biggie, quickly rectified. Chips and salsa were fresh and tasty, chips quickly refilled when needed. Oddly, the house made tortillas that came with Carne Tapatio arrived right after the order was placed, which made them a bit cool by the time the plate arrived. The Carne Tapatio was very good, the white cheese sauce was a bit too skimpy but had a great flavor. Refried beans had melted Queso Blanco on top, yum! Rice was typical, OK but not a standout. All said, the Carne Tapatio was the best dish in our group, chicken and cheese enchiladas with accompanying cheese sauce were great, chalupa good and beef taco not so much. Queso Blanco! Queso Blanco! Having moved to Texas, I really miss queso blanco, which is a cheese dip based on Asadero cheese, jalapenos, and a little milk. In Texas they drown everything in velveet - or worse some congealed canned cheddar soup type mixture - and I just don't get it. This was a GREAT find while on a business trip. I was alone, and the waiter chatted me up just enough, was just-enough attentive, and left me alone just enough. Perfection. House margarita was on happy-hour special and was strong and delicious.
