I've eaten here twice over the past month, and I've been happy both times. The restaurant itself is old and could use a facelift. But service was fast and friendly on both occasions. My fiancé and I went on a date night 2 days ago and we were highly satisfied with the customer service! They were very attentive and kind! The food was so delicious! Food was awful. Sopapilla was so old we needed a steak knife to cut it. Our waiter slammed the salsa down and it went in my daughters eye. Immediately felt sick after eating the food. Nothing special, but nothing terrible. Mediocre Tex/Mex at a pretty reasonable price. Again, nothing really to complain about, but nothing to crazily rave about food wise. I will say that I have to agree with the other reviews about service here. The service here was great from the moment I walked in to the moment I left. Everyone on the floor, not just your server, speaks to you to ensure you are having a great time and all is well with your food. Ordered 2 lunch specials and they were on the table really quick. Both were delicious and the food was very hot. Waitress told us about the apple pie so we tried it. Wow, served on a cast iron fajita skillet with a sauce that she poured on the hot skillet. Got the cinnamon ice cream on the side. It was really good. While visiting from out of state I wanted to eat at a non-chain restaurant. I ordered and within 5 minutes my meal was delivered (piping hot). To say that I was shocked would be an understatement. My husband and I stopped at this Mexican cafe. As truck drivers from Miami, Fl we get to eat at many nice restaurants and we got super lucky to have chosen this spot for Cinco De Mayo. The service was excellent. The Fiesta Botanas dish was off the chain delicious & the margaritas were inexpensive & strong. Our waitress and bartender Toni left an impression on us. Her hospitality was one of a kind. Her attention to detail was noted. The café closes at 10PM but with the music and genuine company my husband, chihuahua and I didn't leave until 2AM. Great food and service. The chicken fajitas were well seasoned and a nice full portion. Ask for Kenneth to be your waiter he is phenomenal.

The service was amazing, and the waitress was lovely. But the food, not so much. everything tasted like it was pre made and tasted old. The rice didn't taste homemade and the beans like they were out of a can. I ordered the chille relleno and it tasted rotten, and smelled like throw up. Came to dinner, and the dinner rush was very slow, wasn't very busy, but we still received not so great service. We had to fill out our own water and tea cups, our food was cold and tasted old. We usually come here during lunch and it's always great. I'm very disappointed in the service and quality of food. I ordered the avocado enchiladas and order house margarita over the rocks. It was all good, and it's was on the spicy side. But from my point of view, it appears large groups are not their specialty, as we are individuals and wish to pay our own bills and requests for separate tickets is something apparently they cannot handle. This force strangers to have to do the restaurant calculations for them. This really makes people uncomfortable. These requests are done all the time. This restaurant should get use to it. This puts a lot of inconvenience on the customers especially when you don't know who the other people are. It turned out okay, as some new acquaintances picked up the tab. The Friday special fajitas for 2 at 19.99 were great, full of a variety of veg, grilled steak, rice, boracho beans, and all the cold toppings. The kids meal are 4.99, and my kids were super happy with them. Service was quick and efficient, though the waters should have been filled more often. My husband had a cocktail, and a family of 6 ate for 53 dollars plus tip. AWFUL!! I ordered lunch chicken fajitas. The chicken tasted like turkey and the onions and peppers were very gushy. Like they were cooked three days ago and microwaved. They brought me steak instead. Barely any steak, it's was tough and tasted like it had season salt on it. Yuck! Also had gushy onions and peppers. My husband ordered two chicken enchiladas and he got one beef and one chicken but since I sent my food back he didn't want to say anything. We got no butter with our tortillas. Chips were very stale. Me and my family went for a late dinner. The restaurant was only open for another hour and a half and we still got great service. We ordered the Tex Mex for Two on the menu. The chicken jalapeño poppers were very good. He ordered the enchiladas with no complaints and I got a chimichanga and chicken taco. I loved that it was made with a corn tortilla...brought back memories from when I was a kid. My daughters meal was only .99 and I assume it's a promotion. Either way no complaints on that or the chicken tenders she got. The chocolate brownie dessert that came with our meal was good but too rich for my liking. I probably had minor diabetes after eating it. All in all a great experience. The food was good and filling. Drinks were good. And the ticket price was great. Can't beat less than $40 for an appetizer, two entrees, dessert, kids meal and two drinks. Our server was also fantastic. She didn't bother us every 5 minutes which I love. On the way from Dallas to Stillwater we stopped in for a quick lunch. The food came out very quickly & it wasn't bad... but it wasn't great either. However, the meal was surprisingly inexpensive & the service was good. Including tip 2 of us ate enchiladas, had non-alcoholic drinks, free queso, & free tortillas for $20. So it's overall a good call if you're want some quick grub thats better than fast food & just a few bucks more. read more

Only one word needed for this review. OUTSTANDING. This evening my daughter and I enjoyed a pleasant experience given not only by the host and waitress, but the Manager, Greg came to our table upon finding out I have an illness. He wanted to assure me that the gloves on all kitchen staff in the kitchen would be changed, cutting board and serving utensils cleaned before my order was made. I almost cried. I rarely go out to dinner because since my diagnosis five months ago. I cannot have more than a bread crumb or I'm at risk for other diseases and cancer. Greg knew how important this was. It was the most comfortable I've been since my diagnoses. The restroom and sink was clean, the table was clean and entire staff we encountered was friendly. That in itself is rare nowadays. It felt like this place is being managed in a very positive environment, making the staff jovial. We left thankful and will be back. read more

Being a long time fan of El Chico's, I had to stop in when I saw the sign from the highway. The waitress was courteous and thorough, suggested drinks and appetizers promptly. We opted for the top shelf queso, which did not disappoint . I ordered the #1 from the lunch menu and my son got the El Cabellero. We cleaned our plates. My only pet peeve is when a table of regulars come in and get the attention of all the servers and a kitchen manager.Thats all good, I just wonder how much trouble it would be for any manager to make the rounds to the lowley general population peeps that make up the 90% of the revenue in most establishments. I'm thinkin 30 seconds of acknowledgement would make us feel included in the dining experience. Just a thought. read more
