The onion burgers here are amazing! You can't get this in the OKC area. This place has been in Ardmore since 1938 and it is the original onion burger joint. It started in El Reno before Robert's and Johnnie's, but moved to Ardmore in 1938. The onion burgers are so flavorful and not greasy. The Original is my favorite. The hand cut fries are crispy on the outside and fluffy inside. The onions are sliced so thin and grilled into the meat. When you walk inside this place, you are transported back in time. It's a small place with 2 tables and about 12 stools around the counter. The staff are very friendly! Of course I'll be back! read more

First of, folks who work there are super friendly. They treat you like you're a regular even if they've only met you for the first time. The quality of the ingredients and dishes is great. It can get pretty crowded though since it's a small hole in a wall establishment . I love the character of the restaurant though. The modest menu includes a few things other than burgers but not surprisingly the burgers are the main attraction. The burgers are the old fashioned kind. Not the pre formed patties we get most everywhere. These are smashed fresh ground beef served up in a light and airy wonder bread style bun with a. Nice selection of toppings. I went for the grilled onions which were very nicely done to a soft and sweet delight. And they've got tater tots so what's not to like. To be clear we've come a long way in the burger world lately and these are not the worlds greatest burger. This has been a family tradition. Great hole in the wall old fashioned restaurant. The burgers are consistent and so are the fries. They've upgraded their menu with some new versions of the old favorites. The girl at the counter was sweet, courteous, chatty and will to accommodate every request with a smile (Blonde sand very pretty). The prices were great. Never disappointed. DO NOT GO HERE AT RISK OF GETTING A FOODBORNE ILLNESS!!! As a licensed food safety manager, I can tell you the health department should shut this place down for bad practices. Besides the fact food was being handled with bare hands (raw and cooked by the same sets of hands), they dropped my to-go order on the floor, the bag had apparently split open, picked everything up, put it in a new bag and tried to hand it to me. I was in Ardmore for a week for a work thing and of course I had to look up any local burger or BBQ places to check out while there. This was the first place I found and it looked like the perfect spot to check out. When I got there it was everything I expected, old fashioned (if just not old to be honest) building in a downtown location, neon sign, small seating area with counter seats as well. Got myself a delicious old fashioned burgers made the right way, no frills or anything, just some tasty beef. I don't recall the fries being good but Im not too concerned about that. I know some people are put off by it being cash only but if you are going to a small town, almost dive type place to eat, are you really expecting there to not be a chance its cash only? Seems a hard sell to me. If you are in Ardmore, give this place a shot. read more

I really enjoyed eating here. It is very small and was quite busy but we managed to score a couple of stools at the bar. Had quite a nice conversation with a couple sitting next to us. I ordered the original and was advised it was small. I was a relatively small burger but after it and an order of fries washed down with some good A&W root beer I was satisfied. The fries are among my favorite from anywhere and the beef in the hamburger patties was fresh and complimented wonderfully by the grilled onions, pickles and mustard I added.
