Not my usual stop for pastries but somehow we found this on our way back from lunch. Staffs are very friendly and they have huge fridge like with bunch of different pastries to choose from. They also sell little baguette which my nephew likes. They also ate all the churros in the car. I got a buttery croissant like with jalapenos, cream cheese and ham for my drive home the next day. Pop it in the air fryer and it was delicious. I didn't have a chance to try the other pastries we purchased since I was still full from lunch. Place was really clean and spacious. This was the first time I visited a panaderia in Houston and the third time in my life. I was overwhelmed by the selections displayed in glass cases lining all the walls and the cash register area. I didn't remember the panaderias I had visited in Harlingen and San Antonio having so many choices as El Bolollo. I really had no plan in place regarding selections. I picked familiar such as churro and then I ramdomly picked pastries that I had never seen and tasted before. I had no idea the name of the bakes except for churro. The Mrs, youngest daughter, and I really enjoyed the bakes with our coffee. The total cost was $14.25, tax included for nine pieces of bakes. It actually shocked me because I was expecting to pay more. The employees were very friendly and helpful. The family definitely will return to explore and purchase more bakes. read more

I waited so long for this place to open and it was well worth the wait. OMG walking into this beautiful building where they have it designed inside just as beautiful. You walk into the Bakery area and their cakes looked absolutely gorgeous! Then you go to the left side of the building where you take a tray and get your own pastries. They make fresh tortillas and so much more. Their was a lady yelling out fresh tamales (YUM). I got a 4" cake for my hubby's bday. And 2 big Wedding Cookies that were absolutely deliciously delicate cookies and a few other pastries . We haven't cut into the cake yet (mouth watering) but I know it's going to taste amazing! Nestled in a old shopping center by Hwy 6 and Bellaire, El Bolillo has come to bring this area back to life with some wonderful treats! Right behind the Walgreens (that has been in this area for over 30 years), you will see a beautifully colored building that screams: Orgullo Latino (Latino Pride). Open from 6am to 10pm, El Bolillo is known around the city of Houston for their amazing variety of cakes, baked goods, French bread (bolillos), sweet bread, coffee, treats, and just all around great service. Once we walk into this location (that ages ago used to be a Luby's) you are greeted by friendly staff, a beautiful atmosphere, and just a huge local with a wide variety of things to stuff your face in. You grab a tray, some tongs, and go door to door and grab whatever sweet bread (pan dulce) that is your fancy. There is a wide variety of Mexican/Latino breads to chose from. I personally love the conchas, empanadas, cookies, and churros. There are saltier options such as kolaches and breads that have cheese, chorizo, and jalapenos. El Bolillo is known for there tres leches, and they have slices for sale, as well as whole cakes. This time around, we chose a oreo cookie tres leches which was an absolute blast of flavors! Their flan is also very tasty, and the choco flan is someting my dreams are made of. Its exciting to have this famous and well recognized bakery on this side of team. We recently saw this location. The building and its colors caught our attention. Beautiful. So, we dropped in. Waited in line for the bollilos and it was worth it. Fresh bread. Loved it. Bought some pastries, including marrinitos and they were delicious oils. Even had the tamales and they were just how we like it. More meat than anything. We then returned in hr new year and we continue to be pleased. The employees were nice and helpful as well. We found our new place. Sorry, Arandas. You lost a customer. Hi found this place to be highly unorganized, sloppy craftsmanship, and very chaotic. Perhaps they're still figuring out the flow but overall I was not impressed. Most of the shelves were empty and the few items that were available were stale. I like other bolillo locations but this one needs improvement on everything! read more

The bolillos were fresh! Baked on site and tossed into a pit for customers to pick. There's a station for coffee, hot chocolate, and Mexican hot chocolate. A tortilla station working to get fresh tortillas out. There are refrigerators that offer a variety of Mexican drinks, juice, milk, chocolate milk, strawberry milk, eggs, and cheese. There's another small area that sells the infamous Abuelita Chocolate. There's another station serving tamales, aguas frescas and champurrado. The kids enjoyed their Horchata and we opted for warm champurrado. I will say I was a bit disappointed with the consistency of the champurrado as it was a little thick for my preference, but I still finished it. We enjoyed shopping here as it was not shoulder to shoulder, tons of space to walk and didn't feel rushed. What better way to end the night than with some "pan dulce" and champurrado. read more

Some products do not have the quality that is expected and that they should offer, I have visited the place on 3 occasions and every time I go I can see that the quality of the products has been lost, today Thursday October 3 at 9:30 PM I was there and the cake bread had mold, I took it to the supervisor in the blue shirt and an associate and their response was to laugh, I will never go with my family read more

This place is a well oiled machine with lots of moving parts. Folks replacing items, folks making items, folks running registers, folks cleaning and taking orders for the cakes. The place gets crowded on the weekends but it's so spacious that you don't feel on top of each other while making your selections. Speaking of selections, they have soooo many selections that it's hard to choose. I have my favorites but really I haven't had a bad item. If you want the items with meat, you better get there early in weekends. I have not needed a cake lately but if I do this looks like the place to get one. El pan dulce es exelente como siempre pero el personal deja mucho que desear me cobraron por un cafe que no tenian y ademas el empleado insistía en que tomara un chocolate en total gastamos $100 dólares entre 3 personas y se negaban a regresarme 1.94 por un café que no tenían realmente una muy mala experiencia hasta me ofrecieron que me hiciera un café soluble ‍ ese tipo de cafe lo hago en casa cada dia. Los tamales de rajas no tenían rajas ni queso era pura masa con granos de elote yo no pude regresar porque vivo en Corpus. Pero definitivamente mi ultima vez ahi.
