This Voodoo Doughnut location on Westheimer is a great Montrose neighborhood sweet spot. While the parking isn't the finest, there's usually a spot or two open so you can do a quick grab and go. The location is quite small with only two 2-person tables for those looking to devour donuts on site. The times I have visited, staff were enthusiastic and able to suggest doughnuts upon request. There are so many flavors and types of doughnuts it's easy to get overwhelmed. I think the doughnuts are all on the sweet side compared to other doughnuts places, but also large and dressed well! There are fruity flavors, savory ones (bacon, uh huh), and classic frosted types, if you don't like them stuffed. The Voodoo dozen includes 13 doughnuts with some cakes, crazy, and classics. If you're not feeling as wild, they also offer a box of Classics, which are not as fun in my opinion, the Vegan box, or even Baron's glazed...raised glazed. Some of my must-haves inclide the Apple Fritter, Maple Bacon Bar, Buttermilk Bar, Chocolate Old Fashioned, Homer, Mango Tango, Portland Cream, Strawberry Go-Tart, and of course, Voodoo Doll! This cult favorite chain has 2 locations in Houston with this Montrose location currently open the latest on the weekends (until 3am). As you walk up to the counter, you can often get a good look of the most recently made varieties in stacks of trays behind the counter. First impression: these aren't your dainty, light and airy doughnuts. Most of them are rather large and just one can probably satisfy most sweet teeth. If you want to try more than one, you may want to consider sharing with a friend and going "halfsies". If you come later at night - and especially closer to closing - your options will be limited since they want to minimize waste of unsold product once they close. I can't recall all the flavors I have tried but I haven't been disappointed yet. My favorite is probably their maple with bacon. Despite having been to Portland a few times, I never thought my first time having Voodoo Donuts would be in Houston Texas. The main reason - no line at the Houston store. We happen to drive by and made a quick stop to try their donuts. There was only one party ahead of us, and they were actually a bit slow. We got two chocolate ring donuts and a voodoo doll. The voodoo doll was supposed to have chocolate on the outside and raspberry filling inside, however, the voodoo doll I got was missing the raspberry filling inside. I let the staff know and they replaced my voodoo doll. The next one had plenty of raspberry filling. Their donuts are large, colorful, fun, and tasty. I wouldn't say they were the best donuts I've ever had, but they were enjoyable and a very good size. The customer service was really good. I don't eat donuts often. But I heard about Voodoo Donuts and I have to stop by to try it. I often drive by this restaurant and always curious about what the voodoo does. The pink storefront and pink interior made me wanting to try something pink. The employee Helen enthusiastically helped me to accomplish that. She gave me suggestions because I am a novice to the Voodoo Donuts jargons. Everything looked so fresh and delicious in the rotating display case. Dirt Donut caught my attention as it's loaded with crushed Oreo cookies. But I would mess up my car interior if get one today. Another problem, because I wore a brand-new white shirt. As much as I wanted to enjoy the experience, it was a tough one. I'm leaving this review months after trying this location. I ordered doughnut for pick up in the morning. They tasted old, definitely not fresh. It was a disappointment but I just chalked it up to a loss. A few days later, I received an email from their Marketing team regarding a survey on my experience. I took the survey and was honest. To my surprise, they actually read my response and informed me that I would be provided a gift card to give them another try. I thought to myself, wow what a company and what great customer service. This was back in May 2025. Here we are in August and after following up directing with the marketing folks, still have yet to receive anything. I now live aways from the area, so I likely won't be going out of my way to give them a second chance had I received the gift card. It's important to have that understanding before coming in, otherwise you may have a disillusioned experience. They have a trademark donut display Tower on rotation for you to view. My family recently got really into the Go Nuts Donuts game, so naturally after a few rounds of the game, we NEEDED some donuts. Voodoo donuts was the perfect spot as it was open 24 hours and we needed donuts after dinner. We came here on a Saturday evening. Not too busy. There was another family dining in on their donuts, and a few people came in to order. I really enjoyed looking at their donut tower and the various donut selections they had. It was great to see the actual donuts on display (versus just reading a description) as that definitely makes all the difference, so good job Voodoo! The only minor improvement I'd like to see is that the donuts only had names written below but no descriptions, so I had to keep asking the worker what was inside each donut. A simple parenthesis (no filling) or (custard filled) would've been extremely helpful! My husband got the cannolo donut and I chose the maple blazer blunt, which is a cinnamon sugar raised donut with a bit of maple glaze and red sprinkles. We're both not fans of glazed donuts since we find them unbearably sweet. I liked that I was able to easily flake off the maple glaze and just eat a little bit of it with the rest of my donut. I enjoyed both donuts, but probably would choose the cannolo over the maple blazer blunt because the maple blazer blunt had no filling and the bread was a bit dry. The custard cream inside the cannolo donut helped offset some of the dryness, hence why I would pick it again. Overall it was a good experienced, but nothing to rave about either. I think our donuts were probably sitting there for a while and I'm sure they would've been much tastier had they been fresh out the fryer. Donuts! I have a sweet tooth so it's hard to disappoint me when anything sugar is involved. I have seen this Voodoo donuts a million times (I have a rental property in the neighborhood) and I finally decided to go inside. I love the decor of the place it was all pink and has framed art work, even if you go to the back where the bathroom is the space is full of art. The place is open 24/7 which is another big plus in my book, cashier was friendly and very patient they have a ton of options to chose from so I took quite a while looking through their menu. The variety is insane here there were so many different donuts to choose from I know for a fact I will come back and try more. This place is so fun! I really love the carousels of donuts so you can see them all to decide what you want. Originally, we were going to get one of each but wanted to try them all so got a dozen instead! I loved the overall feel of the whole place. Quick to get in and out but also not terrible to sit and eat either. The service was outstanding, the kind that makes you wish the person helping you was your friend. Voodoo Doughnuts had a pretty good variety of doughnuts to choose from. After standing at that glass making life decisions, I finally narrowed it down to two. I started with the classic glazed doughnut. It was not overly sweet. The dough was nice and soft but not gooey. I also tried the seasonal Apple cider doughnut which was amazing. I ate it the next day and it was still super fresh. They come in pink boxes which probably make them taste better. The service was great. They were really patient with me as I took forever to pick my doughnuts. The art on the walls were the icing on the cake. So on my list of got to's someday, I had Voodoo donut... thank goodness I got to come. I was craving sweets, and this place has the most fun combinations of donuts I've ever seen! I got the voodoo doll, and it is every bit satisfying to bite into and watch the raspberry jelly flow out...it's not too overbearing, sweet kinda has a tartness to it. The service was great. However, I am apprehensive about trying again due to recent events, but I will most likely do so. I was frustrated with a recent order, but the fault is with Yelp. I ordered a few donuts with a possible delivery between 645 a.m. and 705 a.m. The situation started rocky with Yelp about my order when it was not confirmed by message until 637a with the same delivery timeframe. I called GrubHub at 704a and was notified of a new ETA of 720 by them, not Yelp or the driver. I have used GrubHub directly before and without issue. I informed them that I would have to cancel my order due to a lack of communication and professionalism. Surprisingly, the representative told me that it could not be canceled, which was an inconvenience because I was in the process of leaving my destination for an event. I reiterated that I was at a loss for breakfast and tip for a company driver that did not abide by their timeframe and did not communicate any delay. The situation was unprofessional and could have turned out differently with a courteous phone call. At 718a, the driver called after I left to inform me of his arrival. I turned the situation into a positive for someone else and told the person to leave it at the front desk. I then called the front desk and surprised them with donuts. I hope it made their day. Bare with me... Everything is very creative. They win five stars all day for that alone. Service was average to above average. No big complaints there. My issue was that all of the donuts and specialty donuts were too sweet. Like put in you in a diabetic coma sweet. Everything looks like its loaded with sugar or it looks like it doesn't belong together. I ordered one of the few cake donuts they had to limit my sugar intake. I tasted my husband's donut and felt I was going to crash due to a sugar high. I wish there was a way to limit the sugar, without doing something weird like combining it with bacon or jalapenos.
