The Homer donut was good but nothing special as it is pretty hard to get strawberry glaze with sprinkles wrong. The texture of the dough was not as fluffy as a donut should be, but it remained soft, which was nice. The DOB ended up tasting incredibly soggy and stale, and I ended up throwing most of it away. There also was not a solid layer of frosting on it as there should be. However, I do appreciate the breadth of vegan options that the store has. They did not have any plastic utensils which would have been helpful for sharing since the donuts are so large. Service was quick and easy, the place was empty so it was easy to sit down and enjoy. Yesterday was National Donut day and so I brought my coworkers a dozen donuts for our last day of work! Summer break has finally arrived and this was such perfect timing. $12 for a dozen with one additional for free!!! I live 3 mins away and so this location is my location! Service was great by the morning staff and at first they thought I was another customer by the same name but different spelling. As they were loading donuts I noticed they were not mine, they apologized and mentioned it was such a coincidence. Welp, the other customer, Sara arrived and we had a laugh and greeted each other. The display case had very old donuts in it that were extremely unappealing. The table was dirty. The AC was practically nonexistent and we were sweating. Bonus is that they are open 24 hours. When Voodoo decided to come to Houston, they started at this location. Now there are two other locations as well. The lot is small here, but they do have a drive thru. I always go in so I can see all the creations in person. Customer service is hit or miss depending on when you come in. This is an in and out kinda place in my opinion so it's whatever. As far as variety, this place has the craziest donut creations. You can get a voodoo doll donut, a maple blazer blunt or even a cock n' balls. Not sure what that taste likes. You also have vegan options here as well. I don't like anything overly sweet with lots of jellies or creams so I always stick to my favorite apple fritter or a buttermilk bar. Don't sleep on them old fashioned donuts either. There is something for everyone from the old fashioned glaze to the guava colada. We went the raised glazed, blueberry cake, maple old fashioned, apple fritter and sprinkle cake. I personally loved the blueberry cake and maple old fashioned. The apple fritter is huge! We ate the donuts to fast I forgot to get a picture. The donut flavors are on a menu on the outside and then you place your order inside. They have a few different dozen options but you can mix them. If you aren't at dozen but close, I'd recommend ringing the donuts up separately and doing a price comparison to see if makes sense or get the dozen. The cashier was helpful in guiding our decision since we weren't right at a dozen. The inside was cute. I really loved the decor and all of the small touches that really leaned into the theme. When I used to live in Austin, there was a newly built Voodoo Donut location just 10 minutes from me, now that I'm back in Houston, all of the locations are pretty much far out so that means that I am not able to frequent it as much as I would like. I prefer this location because of the accessible drive-through. The other locations in Houston are walk-in. However, the drive-through speaker sucks. They either can hear you or they can't. You can scream and they still will say that they can't hear you. They should get that thing fixed. Now, I come here because of the vegan donut options. It is not easy to find vegan donuts in Houston. I feel like these donuts are more on the heavy side of dough, would of prefer them to be a bit more lite and airy, same with the cake donuts we tried they were a bit cakey and a bit too much on the toppings. again good flavors on these donuts I just feel they could of been a lighter and fluffy. they did not have coffee available and they did not have ice coffee which was a bummer to me, I would of loved some brew with my donuts. they did offer coffee in a can but that didn't sound good to me. so we settled for water and chocolate milk as our drinks, I wish there was was. more drink options for to pair with the donuts.
