When you walk in it feels nostalgic, like you're in a classic old-school diner. The worker was very patient, friendly, and prompt with our order. We ordered two regular kolaches but they have jumbo ones too, all reasonably priced. We also got a warm donut and freshly brewed coffee. The meat to bread ratio in the kolache is heavier on the bread but still delicious. The Vietnamese coffee is strong but fresh! I ended up diluting with water to tone it down a bit. We once did a blind testing with three people and had Dawn, Dunkin' and Shipley's, and literally everyone voted Dawn as their favorite by a distance. What a gem of a place! The owner was so friendly. The service alone makes this place a 10/10. We were considering if we should get the apple fritter or not so he threw it in for free. As well as gave us free donut holes. He asked us if we needed anything for our daughter and was just overall super kind. We got several donuts, kolaches as well as a Vietnamese coffee. We really loved the coffee - very strong but not overly sweet which is usually the problem with Vietnamese coffee. I thought the best donut was the blueberry one as you could really taste the blueberries in it. The kolaches were puffy and filling. If there was one downside it would be the area. An unhoused man came in and saged the doorway. Although he didn't do anything, it still wasn't the most comfortable position to be in especially if you are out with a toddler. I was in the mood for a donut the other day, but I was too lazy to go out and get them so I ordered some online. Dawn's offers a half dozen box, so, I put in an order to try a variety When I received my order I saw there was a note that said "sorry I ran out of blueberry cake donuts.. here are some donut holes," which was a nice touch. They could have just added a random extra donut and not even acknowledge my order, but they didn't, and I appreciate it I really liked the togo packaging and aesthetic. Everything looked appetizing, and everything tasted great Some tips: I would consider ordering earlier in the day just so you get a chance to try one of their blueberry cake donuts, as they came highly reviewed, and apparently they run out fairly quick. Located just across from NRG Stadium, Dawn Donuts is one of my favorite donut shops in the city. It might not look like much on the outside, but this Asian-owned biz offers some tasty donuts, kolaches, and pastries, along with affordable prices and outstanding customer service. The old school, no frills vibe is evident all throughout. There is no inside seating and it's completely a takeout only situation. Behind the counter is a lovely Vietnamese family constantly running around the kitchen to make things work.. The process is simple. Head up the counter and order whatever is in the display case. They tend to run out in the morning. The kolaches and donuts are on point, but in particular the maple bars and the old fashioned have been my go-tos for awhile.They always give me something extra be it donut holes or a ton of random donuts. The reviews seemed pretty good, so we decided to try this place for donuts. The donuts weren't spectacular, but they were *mostly* edible. The Vietnamese coffee was so, so bad though. It tasted like old dirty coffee with cream and a couple ice cubes. The bottom of the coffee was loaded with coffee grounds. It was the worst coffee I have EVER had. Could it have been an off day? Did not care for the apple fritter as it was too sweet for me (hate that I spent $2.99 and did not care for taste); plus, I have never had an apple fritter that had no apples--how can this be called an apple fritter with no apples???? Very deceptive as it was lumpy as if it had apples; but what appeared to be lumpy with apples, it was just lumps of added dough to appear as apple chunks. Dawn's is the sweetest family owned business - but what has me coming back time and time again is their delicious airy glazed donut (unique bc it's slightly coconutty) and their spicy and savory jalepeno cheese kolaches. They recently started a collab with a Vietnamese Coffee brewer (Cafe Hat?) which serves up the MOST AMAZING Cà phê muối. It's a Vietnamese Salted Caramel Coffee which might sound strange but is extremely popular in Vietnam. The salted caramel foam added to the top mixed into the the coffee gives it an extremely smooth texture. I was obsessed with this coffee in Vietnam and can confidently recommend their version to any coffee or sweets lover! read more

Came with ice and was about 12oz, very good if you like strong coffee Jalapeño Kolache -The bread was a little dense and slightly dry, but I came like 10min before they closed so I figured that's why. Good flavor either way and the dough had a slightly sweet quality that was a good contrast to the jalapeño. Blueberry cake donut -These donuts were T H I C C, but in s good way. Small counter service. Easily accessible. The donuts are quite good. I tend to go for the blueberry glazed or old-fashioned. The donuts have a nice outer crisp but are soft and moist internally. Having Vietnamese coffee as an option is also a plus. Picking up a quick breakfast would be enough to swing by. But the owner and staff running the shop are also exceptionally nice as others have mentioned. They are super courteous each time I visit. On one specific occasion, I waited no more than 5 minutes to order as they were helping a customer pack his car with an order of over 100 donuts. I'm not even sure how many times they apologized to me for waiting (not an issue in my head at all). Got a sausage and a boudin kolache as well as a dozen donut holes. The owner was nice (I was hoping for some freebies like the other reviewers mentioned but didn't get any lol). The breading of the kolaches was amazing. I wish the meat to bread ratio was bigger for the sausage kolache and that there was cheese around the kolache/on the bread versus only in the sausage. (I love that the sausage had cheese/kolache in it though!) The boudin kolache was good- my first time having one. The meat to bread ratio was better in this one. The flavors are definitely Vietnamese-esque. I think I'm just not a boudin kolache person. The donut holes were amazing, fluffy and not overly sweet. The two kolaches and donut holes were $7- slightly more expensive than I expected. Definitely want to return to support a small Asian run business :) read more

Stopped by here this morning on my way to work. It's next to the nail shop that I go to and I've always wanted to give them a try. I ordered their chicken and Swiss cheese croissant , cinnamon bun, and Vietnamese coffee (I am not a coffee drinker). The Swiss cheese croissant I gave it a 3/5. The croissant was flaky and had a nice taste to it but I wasn't a big fan of the chicken. The cinnamon bun was a 5/5! Nice, warm, soft, and not too sweet. It was just right! I only got the code because I had had a long night and need led a little boost at work. I'm not a coffee drinker so I'm not the best judge on coffee tasting. But it was a iced Vietnamese coffee and it was decent for my taste buds. 4/5 it got the job done. It comes in one size only. They make everything fresh daily and you can tell. They have an assortment of other patties that I will be back to try! Very nice professional staff. The place was well lit, clean, and inviting.
