Great place to grab breakfast tacos, kolaches, and pupusas. Great variety of vegetarian tacos, kolaches, and pupusas. I absolutely love the cheese pupusas with the red sauce. The place is often packed on the weekends but the line moves fast. The employees are extremely friendly. Definitely a place I go to every weekend. read more

Donuts used to have no appeal to me. That is until I learned they can be good at a 24-hour spot in in New Orleans called City Donuts. Well, I don't live in NOLA, so I then began the search here in Houston. It had been a long an arduous journey to find a place I like - until it ended today. Classic Donuts is the spot. It's the quintessential mom and pop store that I hope lives forever. The glazed doughnut at 79 cents sat at the perfect crossroad between plushy and chewy. The raspberry filled doughnut at 99 cents didn't have the artificial taste like the filled doughnuts at major chains. And the sausage ranchero kolache is so stuffed with egg without being salty and with the balanced kick and yum of the jalapeno and sausage - and paired with the salsa verde carrying just the right amount of heat, it is money. $2.50 well-spent. I was so satisfied with the ranchero that I didn't even try the bite of jalapeno sausage kolache that I was offered. I also liked that the cashier threw in a donut hole, which instantly reminded me of my favorite quote from Benoit Blanc per Knives Out: "A doughnut hole in the doughnut's hole. But we must look a little closer. And when we do, we see that the doughnut hole has a hole in its center - it is not a doughnut hole at all but a smaller doughnut with its own hole, and our doughnut is not whole at all!" Their tacos are perfection. Fresh ingredients, real eggs, delicious cheese, and made to order... none of that microwave nonsense. Their donuts are solid as well. Service is top notch. I've lived in this neighborhood all my life and never stopped at this spot. I mean Shipleys is right around the corner. But I did this morning. So glad I did. I ordered: Bacon, egg & cheese on croissant (delicious!). A small jalapeño kolache ( yum!) and a buttermilk cake donut glazed. Let me tell you... everything was so fresh and fluffy and delicious. Shipleys won't get any more of my money! I've crossed over!!! I HIGHLY Recommend. Service was friendly and quick. Shop is small but roomy. Plenty spots to stay & eat. I loved it! Great selection of donuts! Fast and friendly service. Picked up a glazed old fashioned, chocolate custard filled long John, apple fritter, and raspberry filled glazed donut. This place Also has a selection of tamales, burritos, breakfast sandwiches, kolaches etc to take for lunch. This place opens SUPER early and they have all their donuts ready when they open unlike other places ( ahem...westco donuts...) that open their doors with NOTHING on their shelves. Love love love classic donuts! I've tried a lot of donuts in town and theirs are by far my favorite. The donuts are airy, glazed to perfection. They melt in your mouth. My kids also like the kolaches. Just the right amount of breading and sausage. They also have Mexican food on the menu that is quite tasty. Staff is always friendly and efficient. Great neighborhood donut/Kolache/breakfast taco stop with very warm, friendly service and bargain prices. We stopped in to grab a bite before shopping for groceries at Foodarama. had a very yummy Barbacoa torta with sour cream, beans, lettuce, and the freshest and sweetest tomato ever on a toasted roll. Hubs had a fresh sausage Kolache and a huge cinnamon roll that was soft and sweet. Even with 2 medium coffees, the total was just over $10. read more

Good little donut shop with very reasonable prices. What most people won't know based on just looking from the outside is they serve tacos. They have a large assortment of breakfast and lunch tacos. My hubby is a fan of the chorizo. Also the have stuffed kolaches they call rancheros. They have basic kolaches too. You can pick from regular or large. I like the plain sausage and cheese regular. My favorite thing here is the chocolate donut holes. I've never found another place that makes chocolate donut holes. If you go early and catch them right after they make them #heaven !!!!! I'm lucky to have such a great locally owned donut shop right in the neighborhood. They serve all kinds of donuts plus kolaches and Mexican breakfast tacos. Make sure you get there in the morning or everything is gone and i think they close at 3 maybe earlier. read more

Went around 6 am and food was fresh, of course! Kolache s were amazing. The breading nearly melt in your mouth and the sausage inside the Kolache has amazing flavor! The donut holes were amazingly moist and well glazed. Tacos were fresh off the press and tasted authentic! Will be back read more

Woohoo! As good as it gets! This place is awesome!!!! Right when you walk in, it smells FANTASTIC! I know most bakeries smell great, but this one was enough for me to say Damn, it smells good in here! Right when I walked in, I saw all the available Hispanic food on top of all the donut and kolache options to choose from, so my decision immediately got more complicated. I ended up getting two tamales, 2 pupusas, 1 blueberry cake donut, and 1 jalapeno and cheese sausage kolache... and yes I know that's a ton of food 8). Everything was great!!! The tamales were dry, but the flavor was still there, plus I got there at around 1130ish, so I'm assuming they were made earlier that morning. The pupusas were awesome, kolache was great, and the donut was great too! Oops, I almost forgot I also got a breakfast egg and barbacoa taco that was good, but a bit on the dry side, but again, I got there late so I'll chalk it up to that. The service was superb, and they were busy before we got there, and got busier once we were there too. Super nice staff, GREAT tasting food/food options, and it was super cheap! I've found my new go to donut/kolache/pupusa/tamale breakfast place near me! read more

I've been going here for years and it never disappoints. The doughnuts are really good, but the breakfast tacos keep me coming back. I especially like their huaraches and the pupusas, skill Serbs with green and red salsa. Good luck getting any of their yummy Latin fare at Shipley's. There is always a crowd in the morning and even moreso on the weekend, but the service is friendly and fast. The shop is small and not particularly cozy, but the food is excellent and perfect for taking home to the family or to the office. read more

This has been my favorite donut shop for years!! They opened when I was just a kid. Its right next to my neighborhood, so it was a good place to stop in the morning. I find myself going out of my way just to come here. They make everything from scratch! Best kolaches and breakfast tacos in town! They also make tamales that are to die for. I don't like cinnamon but the horchata was addicting and it paired so well with the food. My friend got their Melon Agua Fresca and he said it was really refreshing as well. The gorditas were stuffed and they were so delicious, the cheese was melting and the bread was warm and not dry. The Quesadillas were my favorite. You put both the red sauce and the green sauce on it, a lot of lime juice, and it's perfect. I forgot to order cilantro on mine but they do give you it at no extra cost. The prices are so cheap and you get so much food. Everything is around $3 and it will fill you up. Each of us totaled out to be about $10-15 per person and we were stuffed. I would definitely come back here over and over again! My friend said the only bad thing about this place is when you order to go, they won't give you a lot (no lime, no hot sauces, less meat, etc.) so definitely get dine-in.

The flavor of the horchata was good; it tasted a bit watered down but that's on me for not picking up my food immediately. The tacos were filled generously with meat and toppings, and both were super yummy with the accompanying salsas. The chips were thin which is my preference with tortilla chips. The salsa was smooth and the queso was good with a little kick of spice. Everything was pretty good and filling and everything was packed very well. There is a nearby parking garage if you don't want to find street parking

You order from a window and there's a large menu printed nearby The menu offers all sorts of tacos, meats, burritos, bowls, quesadillas, quesabirras, sides, and even kids meals.
