    Blueberry donut

What a gem of a place! The owner was so friendly. The service alone makes this place a 10/10. We were considering if we should get the apple fritter or not so he threw it in for free. As well as gave us free donut holes. He asked us if we needed anything for our daughter and was just overall super kind. We got several donuts, kolaches as well as a Vietnamese coffee. We really loved the coffee - very strong but not overly sweet which is usually the problem with Vietnamese coffee. I thought the best donut was the blueberry one as you could really taste the blueberries in it. The kolaches were puffy and filling. If there was one downside it would be the area. An unhoused man came in and saged the doorway. Although he didn't do anything, it still wasn't the most comfortable position to be in especially if you are out with a toddler. There is security on the premise and they handled the situation very quickly so there was truly no issue but next time we might order take out. Great donut shop. Wonderful owners.

I was in the mood for a donut the other day, but I was too lazy to go out and get them so I ordered some online. Dawn's offers a half dozen box, so, I put in an order to try a variety When I received my order I saw there was a note that said "sorry I ran out of blueberry cake donuts.. here are some donut holes," which was a nice touch. They could have just added a random extra donut and not even acknowledge my order, but they didn't, and I appreciate it I really liked the togo packaging and aesthetic. Everything looked appetizing, and everything tasted great Some tips: I would consider ordering earlier in the day just so you get a chance to try one of their blueberry cake donuts, as they came highly reviewed, and apparently they run out fairly quick. Cheers!!

Located just across from NRG Stadium, Dawn Donuts is one of my favorite donut shops in the city. It might not look like much on the outside, but this Asian-owned biz offers some tasty donuts, kolaches, and pastries, along with affordable prices and outstanding customer service. The old school, no frills vibe is evident all throughout. There is no inside seating and it's completely a takeout only situation. Behind the counter is a lovely Vietnamese family constantly running around the kitchen to make things work.. The process is simple. Head up the counter and order whatever is in the display case. They tend to run out in the morning. The kolaches and donuts are on point, but in particular the maple bars and the old fashioned have been my go-tos for awhile. They always give me something extra be it donut holes or a ton of random donuts. The prices are very reasonable and they also accept credit cards.

The reviews seemed pretty good, so we decided to try this place for donuts. The donuts weren't spectacular, but they were *mostly* edible. The Vietnamese coffee was so, so bad though. It tasted like old dirty coffee with cream and a couple ice cubes. The bottom of the coffee was loaded with coffee grounds. It was the worst coffee I have EVER had. Could it have been an off day? Perhaps, but I don't understand the positive reviews. This place wasn't just bad- it was gross, and I will never go back.

The plain glazed donut was pretty good. Did not care for the apple fritter as it was too sweet for me (hate that I spent $2.99 and did not care for taste); plus, I have never had an apple fritter that had no apples--how can this be called an apple fritter with no apples???? Very deceptive as it was lumpy as if it had apples; but what appeared to be lumpy with apples, it was just lumps of added dough to appear as apple chunks. The blueberry donut was ok, but I have had better. My favorite was the plain glaze and donut holes. Excellent customer service, but I will be looking for another donut place.

First time coming here and I ordered the following: (One of each) Viet Coffee -Very strong and sweet, but great flavor. I belive they use coffee from Du Monde in NOLA. Came with ice and was about 12oz, very good if you like strong coffee Jalapeño Kolache -The bread was a little dense and slightly dry, but I came like 10min before they closed so I figured that's why. Good flavor either way and the dough had a slightly sweet quality that was a good contrast to the jalapeño. Blueberry cake donut -These donuts were T H I C C, but in s good way. Nice and fluffy cake texture and the blueberry is definitely there. Very moist too! Would def recommend if you're in the area. Also, the person behind the counter was very friendly too!

Overall, it was a tasty drink, but I wish the pistachio/nutty flavor had been a bit more prominent, and it felt more like a regular vanilla latte. Compared to other coffee shops, the prices here were reasonable given the size of the cup, so kudos for that, especially in this economy... CoffeeTrend also serves cocktails, which is another neat feature about this place. :)

The atmosphere is calm, authentic, and actually enjoyable to sit in .... not just aesthetically pleasing for Instagram aura farming. There's a nice balance of hip music and that natural coffee shop buzz, without it feeling forced or overdone. It's the kind of place where you can actually relax, catch up with a friend, or get some work done without feeling like you're in a photoshoot. When I visited, there was a friendly group of grandpas catching up over a cup of joe, and their laughter filled the shop in an endearing/ wholesome way. The drinks definitely live up to the vibe. I ordered a strawberry iced blondie latte, which came out to $7.25 before tip, and honestly, it was reasonable compared to a lot of chain spots these days. The menu overall sits in that moderate price range, so you don't feel like you're getting robbed for a good cup of coffee. My friend (and trusted Yelper) went for the avocado toast and immediately confirmed it was worth the hype, which is always a good sign. Overall, La Tazza feels like it knows exactly what it's doing without trying too hard. Good drinks, solid food options, and a space that actually feels like a coffee shop, not a trend-slop experiment like some other shops around town. Basically, it's the kind of place you go for one drink and accidentally stay for two hours...which in turn might be the highest compliment a coffee shop can get from me!!!

The layout of the interior was slightly confusing, you have to walk all the way to the back left corner to order your coffee, and it was next to the restrooms. (Thank God the restrooms were clean.) I ordered the vanilla latte (kind of like the safe thing to order at a new place?) and to be honest, first sip was a disappointment. The barista prepared it well, it was not burnt, but the issue is when you do have someone prepare it well and it still doesn't turn out well means there's an issue with the quality itself. It fell flat in terms of flavor. The espresso overpowers the flavor of everything else. Which normally is a good thing, but usually in lattes I'm expecting a nice mix of syrup, milk, and espresso. The bitter of the espresso takes over the latte. I'm sure this place had some other delicious choices, but this was not the coffee shop for me.

Grinder's Coffee Bar came up and it was right across the street so I made my way over. I arrived around 1 p.m. on a Wednesday. I parked in their small complimentary lot and made my way inside. Ambiance (3.5/5): Grinder's is basically two spots in one. When you walk in, there's a small counter where you place your order. And a handful of seats. From there, you wan walk into a more spacious second room that houses a CBD shop. And more seating along with the bathroom. I sat at a couch in the CBD area. While weed isn't my thing, if you're into both weed and coffee, that makes for a nice one-two punch for you. There isn't a ton of seating, less so than most coffee shops. Luckily, since it was a weekday, I didn't have any trouble. I wonder if that's different on the weekends. They also have free WiFi if you'd like to linger and work or study. Service (2.5/5): The menu is a little confusing because they have a menu on the counter and a menu on the wall with different items. I didn't see that there was a menu on the counter until I was about to place an order. They also have some beverages in a cooler that aren't on either menu. Not the best set up. Service wasn't terribly friendly either. Food (N/A): Since I just had lunch prior, no food for me. They have a small, but appetizing number of pastries and small bites for sale if you get the munchies (pun intended). Drinks (3.5/5): I'm not a coffee drinker so take this with a grain of salt. When I go to a coffee shop, I like coffee shops that still have a nice selection of teas and juices. Grinder's has a small number of teas that can be made either hot or iced. I went with one, iced, and sweetened with agave (for a surcharge). I liked it and the price was reasonable. They also had a mocktail of sorts that was available on their seasonal menu, although like most mocktails, overpriced. While not really my vibe, if you're a CBD person, Grinder's will be right up your alley. It's a unique spot and located in a great part of town.

Jeff's Bagels has specialty limited edition flavors daily with a good selection of everyday options, all of which can be found on the app. There are also multiple schmears, whipped butter, and even some vegan options. A small display case next to the register houses some additional desserts. There is an extensive coffee menu as well. Bagels: The texture is spot on. These bagels offer just the right amount of chew without being leathery, yet are still light and soft on the inside. The boiled skin is just the right thickness somehow, and even with the slight denseness of the dough, it springs back without staying compressed. I've tried the plain, cinnamon raisin, rosemary salt, everything, blueberry bagels and they've all had excellent texture. I would've preferred slightly more cinnamon and raisin on the cinnamon raisin, a touch less salt on the rosemary salt, and perhaps a little more blueberry on the blueberry, but those are likely just personal preferences. Schmears: I appreciate the variety of options Jeff's offers. I'm a plain cream cheese kinda person, but I've tried the vegan plain, maple brown sugar, cookies n cream, whipped butter, whipped butter cinnamon honey. The whipped butter varieties are very creamy, and overall the flavored ones tend to be on the sweeter side. The only one I actively didn't like was the vegan cream cheese; it was too salty and had a strange aftertaste, though the texture was pretty good for vegan cream cheese. My only gripe is the vendetta against toasting. I've been in multiple times when customers have inquired whether they're able to get their bagels toasted, and the response has always been "we don't toast our bagels because they're fresh and boiled." These bagels are delicious on their own, but I love freshly toasted bagels even if they're newly baked.
