Updating my review to five stars from my previous four stars. We returned so I can get my gluten free chocolate chip cookies. (They also had gluten free sugar cookies, but I didn't try those.) I ended up buying three of them because they are so good! I love how chewy they are especially because I hate crunchy/crispy cookies. My husband had the normal chocolate chip cookie, and he liked his a lot as well. The girl behind the counter was really nice. She and I had a short but nice conversation and she was all smiles the whole time. We were the only ones there at the time, and we were seen to right away. The store was very clean, and it smelled so so so good! There were other food items like jams, honey, etc to buy. I'll definitely return for their gluten free cookies when I'm in the Katy area. read more

Most recent visit was not great. Ordered a bag through toogoodtoogo. Sure I'm okay with leftover food that might be a bit stale or mushy, that's fine. But all 8 biscuits in my order had white and green mold on them. Sent them a message with pics and videos and they said theyd make sure it didn't happen again. To not even get a "sorry" or for them to try and fix it/make it up rubbed me the wrong way. Not sure I'd put in the effort again to go out of my way again to go. Have the employees check those bags more carefully. 1 star for the employee who attended to me quickly when i initially picked it up, 1 more star for the yummy coffee. Great harvest never fails when it comes to their fresh baked goods! I was running late to an appointment so I stopped to grab a chicken salad sandwich and it was absolutely delicious. We come here during the holidays for our chocolate babka and for our king cakes. I highly recommend the pumpkin chocolate chip muffins as well, and if you want a sweet treat in the morning for breakfast, I recommend buying the cinnamon loaf which we slice up and make as French toast The service is always very friendly. The ambience is that of a small general store tucked away somewhere in a small town. They offer many little tiny necessities for bread such as butters, jellies and jams and some soup mixing as well. The bread is very inconsistent meaning: They shove it in plastic bags. Which destroys the crispy crust and makes it chewy like rubber If you catch them right after your desired bread comes out of the oven, before they stick it in plastic bags, you're golden. But you got a very small window for that They claim they can't slice the fresh bread for sandwiches, so they can sell you the entire loaf. But I get home(I live 40-yards from them) and it slices just fine Wish they would stop with the plastic bagging of their bread. Even the grocery stores stick their loaves in paper bags with open ends. read more

I bought bread from them only to discover later that it contained walnuts. The crazy thing is that they're calling it snickerdoodle bread. Snickerdoodles are one of my favorite cookies and I've never encountered one that contains walnuts. There is a label on it with the ingredients but it's half faded and printed in the smallest font their computer could produce. Tree nuts are such a common allergen, how hard is it to put a sticker on the product? Genuinely baffling choices unless their intent is to poison customers. read more

This bakery has such great things but I don't think I can visit anymore. I went in on a Saturday afternoon and immediately felt uncomfortable. The customer ahead of me was wearing her mask on her chin and seemed to be a regular so I get it. No one wants to confront customers anymore. But as I stood in the corner away from her unacknowledged as I waited my turn, I noticed the owner was not wearing her mask either, only pulling up a gaiter to go greet the customer herself. Other workers in the bakery were either wearing their masks incorrectly or wearing bandanas so I sadly left, still no acknowledgment from anyone in the store. I had met the owners and talked with employees multiple times in the past but felt a certain coldness this time which disappointed me. Unfortunately not all Great Harvest Bread restaurants are equivalent. The one in Lake Charles, LA is amazing, with bread sampling and very little if any limitations on what type of bread you can choose from for your sandwich. The Katy location pales in comparison, and offers a very limited bread selection for sandwiches, e.g., cheese jalapeño bread is not an option since "it would go bad by the end of the day" per an employee's response. The egg, cheese and turkey sandwich I ordered was also much smaller than the Lake Charles' portion. Again, inconsistencies between locations. Won't be going back to this location. One of my family's favorite bakery in Greater Houston area. We loved the facts that fresh, natural, and wholesome ingredients were used for baking with no added preservatives. Over the years, my family had tried just about every baked item on the menu at the closed Sugar Land location. There was not one single disappointment. Mrs. and I visited this location in Katy for the first time and we were impressed by the helpful and friendly lady at the counter. We brought scones, Savannah bars, and two loads of bread. We shared some with our friends and youngest daughter. Everyone agreed that the tastes were so fresh, tasty, and natural. Prices were very competitive with other local and chain bakeries. We will retuned and pick up some baked goods for our oldest daughter who lives out of town. There is no Great Harvest in her city and she misses Great Harvest so much. read more

Absolutely fantastic company! We got the pizza swirl and the jalapeño cheddar dinner rolls, I cannot speak highly enough about either of them. Just the right amount of pepperoni and cheese for the bread not to end up greasy, the quality was absolutely fantastic yet it didn't overwhelm the bread so much that you didn't have the opportunity to enjoy it's phenomenal homemade flavor.
