    steak protein bowl

The ambiance is real nice and the servers and hosts were all super friendly! I wish it was a full-service restaurant though. It gave a full-service vibe but we had to order at the counter and then they brought the food out to you. I mean it was really nice that they refilled our waters. But it's a bit confusing that it has a quick dine-in ordering system while still giving a full-service type of service. I don't know how I feel about having to tip before I actually receive service either. Thankfully, the service was decently good though. I got the steak protein bowl, and the portion size was really small. The steak was underseasoned so I really had to dip it in the sauce. The other stuff were seasoned well. I should've asked for some salt but I got caught up in the conversation and ate it all before I thought to ask. I wish the entree came with a bit more substantial things to make it more filling. Cause I left the restaurant still hungry.

We had the best experience and service at Black Walnut in Cinco Ranch! Even from the initial call to let them know we were bringing in a group of seniors. We are so thankful when we walk-in and the table ready for us. The food and service was top notch! It's the smallest gestures that make a dining experience memorable. All of us loved the cauliflower appetizer! Thank you so much to the staff and managers! They were hands on with greeting us, delivering the cocktails and food. Veda did an outstanding job taking care of us! We appreciate you taking care of our seniors.

I am not quite sure why this restaurant does not have consistently high marks in its service food and ambience. I'm going to read through some of the criticisms after I'm done saying this however before I become biased, I'm going to suggest that for as many times as I have been to the black walnut café, I have had incredible service very reliable food and the ambience more than adequate. Today I ate on the patio with some good friends because we arrived early servers were available to take our orders. Typically when you sit on the patio, you have to go in and place your orders however, this particular day we did not which was very pleasant. Coffee was poured with regularity and we simply enjoyed ourselves with a lengthy discussion with good food and with great service. I truthfully enjoy this restaurant.

We had a very nice dining experience here in Cinco Ranch at the Black Walnut. It had been awhile since we had been to one and decided to give them another try. We had previously dined at the one on the Woodlands. The order process is counter service and they bring it your table. Self serve drink and utensil area are also in the equation. Food was good. I think the overall winners were the Nashville hot chicken and the Pot Roast Grilled Cheese. The Mahi Mahi tacos needed more season on the fish and the Alfredo on the Chicken Parm was a little watery. Overall, the restaurant was clean but had to bring it to managers attention that the bathroom needed some attention. Small fixable things for sure, but we would definitely dine there again when in the area.

I order through Lunchdrop but the food was so bad I had to come review on YELP.. it was 23.00 for nothing but lettuce and tortilla strips. The tiny piece of bread was so hard I tossed it and it was extra! Now I have to go out and get something for lunch. Not happy!

Went to Black Walnut with my family for dinner a few weeks ago and wasn't too big of a fan. The food was brought out after a long while and was cold on arrival. The flavors were also not all there to me and moreso on the blander side. The restaurant is quite large with plentiful seating and the overall ambience is that of an American diner. Unlikely to come back because of the quality of the food and the lack of flavor. The menu is not inexpensive either, so definitely felt more difficult to justify the prices.

Great sandwich and sweet potato fries. Good service. Clean restrooms. And quiet enough to bring your laptop and work. Highly recommend

We had not been here in a while and came to meet with my podcrew for TrueTalkCafe & we absolutely loved it! There was no wait, plenty of seating available (on a Saturday morning), the food was delicious & there was a young men attending the tables who was the nicest server. I will definitely be back. I had the new Cinnamon Roll french toasts and they were delicious. My friends had the Migas plate, the Texas plate & a sandwich croissant and they all liked their food

It was a very, very delicious. I was utterly surprised. We also found out about the happy hour specials so we will definitely go back during that time 3 to 630pm I believe...and have some appetizers and drinks. Food, Service was really good.

    SPINACH AND ARTICHOKE DIP
    Helen V.

Very charming café that's perfect for studying and snacking. I enjoyed a hot vanilla latte, which was a bit too sweet for my taste but still rich and comforting. Alongside, I had the artichoke dip, which was nice and warm, very cheesy, and paired well with the crisp bread. The café has a cozy atmosphere that makes it an ideal spot for getting work done. Whether you're looking for a place to focus or just want to relax with a tasty snack, this café is a great choice.

The food at black walnut is consistent and tasty. I really enjoyed my turkey burger and the sweet potato fries were perfect. Some places undercook them. The dining area smelled kind of dingy and wet so we sat outside.

Recently visited and less than ideal review. I was reached out by management asked to come back for another try. So I did... Let's just say there was no improvement. As matter of fact it was worse. Ordered an American burger and the French toast with two beverages. Go to the coke station and it glitches to where it doesn't function properly.... Iced tea it is. Go outside to wait for lunch. Guy comes by drops off food and asks if we need anything. I say ketchup and silverware. Got half. Silverware came. I get up to get the ketchup and the sever comes back as says he severed me the wrong American burger. He was stammering a bit so I couldn't understand if it was temp of the requested cook or it was missing toppings. I say it's okay. I'll eat it regardless. I don't want to waste food over cook temp or missing topping. And he began to say it's someone else's. Then said hold on. I then start to think if they were just going to take this item and then serve it to another guest... that's weird. Another person comes out and tells me that the burger order wasn't mine and then offered me a new one. Again I said it's fine I don't want to waste food. Burger wasn't all that great anyways. Heavily seasoned with salt and had that right out of the freezer taste. Overall. Mistakes happen I get it. But it was a weird interaction. I'm sure this dialogue of the process seems innocuous but in the moment it was weird. Furthermore with a second chance given this place isn't really for me.

A special shoutout to Ulises, who made our experience exceptional. He was incredibly attentive, friendly, and fast without ever making us feel rushed. Since it was our first time visiting, they even surprised us with complimentary corn on the cob, which was such a thoughtful touch. The food was outstanding and came out surprisingly quickly. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. My husband was also impressed by the attention to detail throughout the restaurant--even the restroom was stocked with everything you could think of, from toothpicks to mouthwash, which was especially appreciated after enjoying all the delicious corn and black beans! It's rare to find a restaurant that combines amazing food, excellent service, and thoughtful hospitality so well. After living in Houston for…read more15 years and dining all over the city, this was by far the most disappointing restaurant experience we've had. What made it even more frustrating is that we've been to the Cypress location many times, and every single visit there has been exceptional -- great food, great service, and consistently enjoyable. Unfortunately, the La Centerra location was the complete opposite. We waited over an hour for our food, only to receive the wrong appetizer. The fajita plate arrived cold and without rice, beans, or tortillas. We sent both dishes back. The replacement appetizer -- ceviche tostadas -- finally arrived, but it was overloaded with lemon to the point of being unbearably sour. Meanwhile, there were still no tortillas, rice, or beans in sight. No drink refills, no updates, and barely any service during the entire wait. After another long stretch of waiting, we finally asked the server what was happening, only for her to return and tell us the kitchen was closing and they no longer had tortillas, rice, or beans available. At that point, after nearly 1.5 hours, we walked out with nothing but a to-go box of fajita meat. To the manager's credit, they removed the appetizer and fajita charges from the bill, but the experience itself left such a bad taste that it completely overshadowed the gesture. Extremely disappointing, especially compared to the excellent standards we've experienced at the Cypress location. Sadly, we will not be returning to this location.

Tables are well spaced plenty of room eight crisp environment really just a very comfortable ambience. The services superlative from the moment you walk in in which you are immediately accommodated to the server who takes an order and then the servers who serve the food which is not necessarily one in the same. It's simply a very efficient service system and very pleasant if you're a customer. You get warm food. In my case I had hollandaise with Salman underlying it, which was very good. The eggs were cooked perfectly the hollandaise not by any means obnoxious but a very deliberate Irving and a wonderful salad, which both underlines the egg and is served as a side with the eggs, which were perfectly poached. In so far as the buzz is concerned, there are wines and beer available and really quite an extensive menu in both. I enjoyed a beer with mine, which I know it sounds like an odd combination, but it worked quite well for me. Really this is a wonderful addition to Katy options for breakfast or brunch.

They serve brunch on Saturday and Sunday until 330. The brunch menu is huge. It is not a super large menu, which I feel very endearing. We decided to try the bagel and lox with cream cheese, the Buzz burger with fries, and their homemade chips. They start off by bringing you this beautiful craft of bottled water. That to me was an amazing bonus. We also ordered two sodas which came in a can. I sort of wish it was a more of a fountain drink than one can of soda for the price. *Now service was super slow. However, the waitress did come and tell us that they are running a little behind and she apologized for it and she was super sweet, so that made up for the weight. How do I known how long it was going to take, I don't know if I would've stayed, but in the end, the food was amazing. The burger was cooked to perfection. My boyfriend is a hamburger snob and he kept saying how good it was how fresh it was and how perfectly cooked it was. They serve you shoestring fries that feel like they're double fried and they were phenomenal. My bagel was toasted perfectly and had a very good amount of cream cheese and lox. As a Jewish girl living in the area that I do, it's very hard to find good bagels with lox and cream cheese. I will most definitely be back for this sooner than later. The homemade chips took quite a while to come out, and at one point I was ready to say we don't need it, but these potato chips beat Buccees beaver chips, 100%. They were super fresh and very crunchy and tasted amazing. I will definitely recommend those to anybody that orders some. My boyfriend then ordered a tropical sunrise smoothie and it was so tasty and tasted like a strawberry banana smoothie. Now once again that did take a long time to come out and at one point, we were wishing we had not ordered it but once we did get it, it was really good and I highly recommend it. The restaurant is not very large and it's the perfect brunch spot for anybody looking for a smaller Cafe with very good choices.

Our waitress was super sweet but you could tell they were either understaffed or not used to being that full. It took super long time for all of our food to come out. Appetizers came over 40 minutes after ordering and the mains came over an hour and 15 mins or so after we arrived, and that was with the mains being ordered halfway through the apps. The first bite of the oyster was ok. It didn't taste like it was just made but maybe pre-prepped perhaps. We were supposed to receive bread soon after the first bite but we didn't. It was difficult to flag someone down because the waitstaff was moving fast and bringing out food for all the tables. We received our appetizers and then I had to let them know that we didn't get bread. So our bread and appetizers were eaten together. Now onto the food. We ordered the shrimp, jollof ball, calamari, and tacos. The calamari was straight up not good. We didn't finish it and no one in our party thought it tasted fresh. It had a very odd texture. It wasn't chewy or have a bite like normal calamari does but it was like a sponge. We all took one piece. Our party is all about not wasting food but the fact that the appetizer was not finished was very telling. The shrimp had good flavor but wasn't spectacular. The tacos were good. The jollof ball was spicy and nice. Between the appetizer and the entree there was over 35 minute gap. For this reason, we asked if we could have more bread, but they said they charged for extra bread. Tbh, I don't mind if places charge little for bread service, but if it takes over 35 minutes for the entree to come out, I'd expect the restaurant to give another piece of bread per person for no fee. That's just good customer service but alas we declined the bread. For the mains we ordered the brai (10) up charge, the lamb chops, the ribeye, and pork chop. The ribeye was great, cooked well, juicy and with good flavor. Lamb chops were also nice. The pork had an interesting flavor that my party member wasn't fond of, but it was cooked nicely and was reasonably juicy. The big miss was the brai. It had a 10 dollar upcharge for 1 row of lateral axis short rib, 1 lamb chops, and 1 sausage. The short rib was fine but a crap ton of fat. The lamb chop was good, the sausage was raw in the middle. When I brought it up to someone that the sausage was raw, they took the same sausage and cooked it until it was done. Keep in mind the restaurant is dark and my other companions had some of the sausage but the outer pieces. I had a piece in my mouth and had to spit it out because I could feel the raw meat sausage texture in my mouth. Instead of bringing me a new sausage they took the same one, which to me is outrageous especially because I had spit out a good piece. The waitress apologized but I had to ask to speak to the manager instead of someone coming to our table first. When they brought the same sausage out, it rolled off the plate onto the table....i just accepted it. They took off the 10 dollar up charge off the bill but I don't think that was enough especially with the whole debacle of the sausage being raw. I expected the restaurant to have a solution but I was put on the spot about what they needed to do. I wished I'd asked for the 1 meal to be half off or more than 10 dollars off just because of everything and the food quality and the terrible wait times. The mashed potatoes also weren't great. Green beans were good, jollof rice side was good. Desserts were fine. All in all, we expected better quality of food and service.

Let me start by saying I've been here multiple, multiple times & I've never had any food items that weren't good. I always get breakfast (even if it's lunch time) so I don't know much about the lunch items. Not only is the food outstanding with a creative twist, it's consistent. Over the years, the place has expanded several times so now there is a decent amount of dine-in seating in addition to the outdoor seating. The place still stays packed but with their wait list in advance/text notification system & efficiency in seating customers, if there is a wait things move along smoothly. Additionally, anyone who is waiting knows it's worth the wait!! The service staff are friendly. The atmosphere is homey & they decorate for the various holidays & seasons. Owner/chef Lori is always walking around asking guests if everything is ok. On at least 2 occasions she happened to chat with me/my guest about some dietary restrictions & she whipped something up for us to try. My go-to dish is the harvest breakfast where you can pick 4 breakfast items from a list. This is a great way to sample more menu items. Here's my take on some of my favorites: - Sourdough pancakes are thin & really delicious. - Belgium Leige waffle is very sweet with the pearl sugar "nuggets" in them so taste them before you add a lot of syrup. - Scrambled eggs are well seasoned, not bland. - Avocado & tomato or the fresh fruit are nice light touches as one of the side item choices. - Fried chicken tenders are really good. Spice level 3 (medium) is not that spicy. It's flavorful. - Grilled chicken tenders are good. As much as I typically eat grilled or baked chicken, I allow myself to choose fried for these. - Grits are creamy. I get them with no cheese. I'm not a big grits person but I do like these! The menu is very extensive. It includes vegan, vegetarian, keto & gluten free. Is the breakfast a little pricey, the answer is "it's all relative." Sometimes it's just worth paying for a great meal. In case you haven't gotten the message, Harvest Kitchen is a must try. Do yourself a favor & have a visit. I'm betting it will stay on your list as a repeat eating spot!! Tips: - Use the text message wait list & signup before you leave your house. - You can always get 1 pancake on the side for $5. - 15% gratuity is included at checkout, as you pay you'll get options for an additional % or custom % like 0%, 3, 5% or more.

Plenty of parking in the lot. Cute and homey decor. Very big menu that accommodates different…read moredietary needs including vegetarian, vegan and keto. Service was friendly and the food was good. I am not vegan but got the portobello mushroom sandwich was tasty. I also enjoyed the lavender berry lemonade.
