My daughter goes to Connolly next door & I would often wonder how they stayed open for so long because I hardly ever see people when we come to dance in the afternoon. Well, today, I came in the morning to work from here & to give it a try and wow! The place was non-stop busy from 8-1 pm with a line to the door throughout the morning. The breakfast croissants were delicious and unlike anything you have likely tasted before. The pastries were simply phenomenal! Presentation & taste. Service was outstanding. The ladies came around often and the food & drinks came out pretty fast. The space is a bit small for how crowded it gets and it's a bit too loud to work from here if you have to take calls. This is still one of my very favorite cafes and sandwich places anywhere in the world! Love the staff and the selection of hot or cold sandwiches, crepes, pastries, treats and cappuccino. The baguettes are so crusty and fresh, the chocolate chip cookie is one of my favorites in town (I take an extra to keep in the freezer), and the place itself is cozy and comfortable, inside or out on the patio. The word is out about this place and many friends come with other friends just to catch up over coffee and some amazing pastries. This is a busy busy cafe. At 9:30am on a weekday, the cafe was already filled with people. Their display cases were filled with beautiful pastries and stuffed sandwiches. I came here specifically for their pastries. The tarts had such beautiful glaze on them that they were screaming out to me to buy them. I got the fruit tarts and lemon tart which weren't too sweet. I got the apple pie tart too which had perfect crust, and wasn't sweet. I love the shaved chocolates on top of the croissant, and the amount of chocolate in the croissant was perfect. But the chocolate croissant was not buttery enough. I love the small outdoor seating area which is decorated with pretty flowers and plants. There are a few seatings inside the cafe too. 4.5 stars I met with a friend yesterday for dessert and coffee. We decided to sit outside since the weather was beautiful and the ambience was perfect. This being said there was seating in the front of the cafe on Westheimer, but also in the back of the restaurant in the courtyard setting. We chose to sit in the front of the cafe. The staff was great and the staff cleaning the tables was very attentive. The marscapone fruit tart was absolutely delicious and the coffee was great. They offer breakfast and lunch options. They pay close attention to detail with the way they display their food. Very good presentation! The only thing I think I would "complain" about is the fact that the music was extremely loud outside and we could barely hear ourselves speaking. i'm sure that if I would've gone inside and spoken to someone, they would have turned the music down, but at that point we were getting ready to leave so it really didn't make a difference maybe on my next visit I may mention it. Delicious French Onion Soup and Lattes! Very cozy. Owners and employees are very sweet.

I stopped by on a Sunday around lunchtime to pick up some croissants. The restaurant was packed and busy, but I felt like the line moved quickly enough. I ordered a pistachio/ricotta croissant and latte to eat there, and 2 Nutella croissants to go for my kids. The whole order came out to about $30 total. My latte was good, nothing really stood out about it. I did not order any flavorings or sweeteners and ended up drinking it as is and thought it was a good latte. The pistachio croissant was not good. It was stuffed full of mainly ricotta to the point where the ricotta overpowers the other flavors. The pistachio cream was only a thin layer, and I could tell it was only on one side of the croissant. The flavor of the pistachio cream was also very fake and chemical tasting. I did not enjoy it. The Nutella croissants, while big, were very chewy and hard. My kids, who normally like anything sweet and with Nutella, told me it was not good. I took a bite and the bread almost tasted stale, which is disappointing. Overall, I was disappointed in the experience. With the way food prices are these days, I do not see myself returning - but the restaurant is doing well, so I am sure they will not miss my business. read more

We asked for some recommendations and every one hit it out of the park. Not only do they have a beautiful pastry counter, but they have a small menu. I ordered the Grilled Chicken Crepe which was full of pesto/cheese goodness. The person behind the counter recommended a Pistachio Croissant - all I can say is "wow!" It was too much food for just me. I could have easily split the crepe with my daughter. The food was as delicious as it was beautiful. The ambiance is great, but inside dining is a little small (like any cafe). My family of four managed to cobble together a couple tables, and the patrons were kind and accommodating. A gem of an enterprise, run by a wonderful couple who are always front and center, supported by a warm and professional staff. Standouts are their croissants and pan-au-chocolat, their sandwiches (the ham and cheese is a work of art, albeit consisting of nothing but what the title says). The patisserie items (cream cakes, tarts, eclairs . . .) are lovely. And they make a cup of coffee that makes Starbucks pale in comparison! They get VERY busy at weekends, serving "sit down" breakfasts and lunches. The business is very successful, and deserves to be, for it is one of the very few places where I can honestly say I have never visited and not been completely satisfied, and made to feel valued as a customer. I got the charcuterie sandwich which was interestingly pretty good, the pineapple cream puff which had a sweet layer of raspberry jam at the bottom (it was ok). We got lucky as we went right before lunch on a Saturday so we were able to grab a tiny table by the entrance. It got crowded real fast after we sat down. Everyone was super friendly and nice, they were very attentive and refilled my water regularly even when it's super crowded. Everything in the bakery looked absolutely amazing. Unfortunately we were not able to try everything but rest assure we'll be back for more. Need try all the pastries and croissants. Here is the rundown of what we ate: French Onion Soup (4 stars) was very flavorful and comforting. It had a good amount of sweet onions with every bite. We love the cheesy slice of baguette on top of it, made it fun to eat. Eggs Benedict/Ham (5 stars) was served on their fabulously flaky and buttery homemade croissant...YUM! The eggs were perfectly pouched on top of a thin slice of ham and spinach. Hollandaise sauce was creamy and fresh tasting. Royale Crepe (4 stars) was very delicious. I swear their croissants rival those monstrosities we saw everyone eating at the '24 Olympics in Paris! But these haven't lost their buttery deliciousness that so many do. My go to splurge is chocolate & almond croissants with a prosciutto and Parmesan sandwich to take home. Have been wanting to try Delices De Maurice for a while but hadn't gotten around to it. finally decided to go with my mom (who had been for pastries before), and was surprisingly let down. I really wanted to love it (and thought that I would) but everything I had was pretty flavorless. Also, it was severely overpriced for what we received. The egg croissant with bacon was $13.50 and they were going to charge $3 when I asked for a single slice of swiss cheese to be added (which I did not end up doing). It's absolutely their right to charge what they want, but I don't think I'll go for anything but a pastry in the future. I got the egg croissant, which comes with scrambled egg on a wheat croissant, bacon, maple syrup, seasoned tomatoes, and avocado slices. Maybe it was just an off day, but i took a bite of the egg on the croissant and didn't taste much of anything. The croissant was super dense and didn't taste like their was any butter in it. It was also pretty crisp on the top - almost burnt really. I don't think the egg patty even had salt and pepper - it may have just been egg, and the avocado was not ripe at all, so we didn't eat it. The saving grace was the crispy bacon and the maple syrup that I dipped the croissant with egg in so that I tasted something. We also ordered vanilla lattes and had a similar experience. At first, I thought they forgot the vanilla, but then I noticed a very subtle sweetness. I think we each got maybe half a pump for 75 cents. Overall, I hate to leave a pretty negative review, and I really am not usually a picky person. I just expected some flavor for a $55 "light breakfast with coffees." My mom does attest for their pastries, so maybe I'll go back for one of those and see if it is a different experience. read more

I have a sweet tooth, so my tastebuds thoroughly enjoyed eating this. Having said that, it might be too sweet for those sensitive to sugar. The grilled chicken crêpe was a little dry, but satisfied my brunch craving. One personal highlight for me are the dishes they use.
