So I was in Texas and heard about the Essence Housr Cafe for breakfast and brunch. I tried it and was pleasantly surprised. They serve omelettes that actually have meat in it you can see and taste. Just stopped in on the way through town. Instantly was greeted with a warm welcome as I walked through the door. The menu was full of tempting dishes, but it wasn't overwhelming. My dish was brought out quickly and the freshness was evident. The tastes blended perfectly and I enjoyed every bite. The environment was comfy and cozy without seeming pretentious. This is a charming, no frills place with terrific food and sweet staff! We had the wild shrimp sandwich and the Reuben. Both were delicious in a homey way. They make their own cilantro mayo which added really nicely to the shrimp sandwich. They make their sauerkraut as well, and it was very nice. The sandwiches have the right amount of stuff, not huge piled high, just right. You will not leave hungry! And we topped it off with a warm chocolate chip cookie. Visited the Essence house for the first time today. My wife and I had heard it was a good place. First let me point out, it is a bit confusing on how to order when you first enter. The young man that helped us figure it out was nice, polite, customer ordinated and professional. He suffered through all my questions with a smile. We were able to get our food ordered and I have to say everything tasted great. I had a create your own omelette (hard to mess that up), my wife had buffalo sandwich. Each of them I have no complaints on taste or plate presentation. Now on to why I give Essence only 3 stars. Upon walking in, I noticed an outside table that had not been cleaned and the trash (napkins & etc) were on the ground and blowing around. After we ordered and sat down at a table, I noticed several tables that were bussed but, not clean. Our table had syrup in the holder for the salt, pepper and sugar packs. And yes you guessed it, the salt pepper shakers were sticky. I also ordered a water and latte with my meal. I received the latte but, not the water. I would have asked for it but, I did not feel like getting back up again. As, I had to get up and go get our silverware. Not that this is a big deal, just when we came in the place, the young man that helped us was delivering food to a table and he went back to get their silverware, so I figured that was the procedure. I guess that is my fault for not asking and/or assuming. Upon leaving, I stopped and turned around at the door to tell the 4 people at the register area thank you and have a good day. If I had not, I am sure our exit would have gone unnoticed. I will recommend eating at Essence and I will even go back. However, just do not go their and think you're fixing to eat at a country chique establishment, as it may indicate by looking at their web site. Dropped by today for a late lunch and to my surprise, The Essence House Cafe has breakfast all day! We were instantly greeted upon arrival and the staff offered their suggestions. Their menu is extensive but I opted for The Greek Omelette with a side of seasoned Potatoes. I ate every bite, with plenty of food left over. I also enjoyed a latte and my husband chose a warm chocolate chip cookie for dessert. What a wonderful cafe, we will be returning to try other menu items. read more

It has been a while since I have found a place that I would want to eat there again the next day. This is a small breakfast and lunch gem. I had the 3 meat special breakfast and it was delicious. The sausage was amazing. The service was great and the desserts look so delicious. I took a piece of turtle cheesecake to go but they had soooo many more that I want to try. Domino cake, Carrot Cake and Italian cream cakes all looked delicious. This is a small location, big on flavor and presentation. They close at 3pm so remember them for breakfast or lunch. They have a diverse menu and cookies and pastries also. I can't wait to go back. read more

It looks promising as you park and stroll on over. The cafe itself is cozy, feels warm and inviting. The display case is filled with delicious looking cakes... The staff is not too excited about being there...the coffee was ok...the cookie was great...the chai tea latte tasted something not right - I'm not sure what happened but either someone filled the cup with existing residue or they just didn't want to take the extra effort to stir a $5 cup of chai tea coffee. Hello my fellow Yelpers. Hope your life if filled with many marvelous meals. Let's sit down at this small little Fulshear town breakfast house. Very small but yet welcoming. There is not alot of room for your big family. If you want to bring mom, dad, and the two kids your good. The parking is off a major street so be careful pulling out. I'm sure there is some other parking in the back. Let dive in to a classic breakfast. Two eggs, toast, choice of meat, I had the sausage, and cubed potatoes. Wow, surprisingly it came out very quick with the amount of people here. They seem to have it together here. They have what I see a 7 person cook staff that keep to their specific duties. Looks ike the meats, potatoes, and the bread are already cooked. So bam, throw the egg down and thats it. Basically a buffet style they prepare for you. It wasn't that bad. The sneeze guard, well let's say dosnt work. The staff is very friendly and greeted you as you walked in. Always a nice touch. Its a young staff. I'm leaving that alone. Back to the small place again, if you don't mind sitting real close to people, if you don't mind maybe a yelling/coughing kids, if you don't have anxiety in small places like elevators, this place is for you. Suggestion, when you first walk in and its more than just yourself, grab a table and a menu first. Then order. Limited seating. Its very busy inside. They do have outdoor seating which is pretty cool. Not on a hot summer day. Well I'm running out of ideas, just wanted to finish my $3.50 coffee and my $17.00 breakfast. So, bring credit card with room on it because its not cheap for your precooked food. The food and service was good. But, as noted by a previous reviewer about a year ago, this restaurant does have cleanliness issues. It is in serious need of a deep clean (dead flies on window seals, old, dried splashed liquids, gunk in floor corners, etc) and general maintenance (ceiling tiles stained, paint needs refreshing, etc). These are things corrected with mainly elbow grease and attention to excellence. I hope the owners note and take action. It is not pleasant to sit and try to eat in a place that is not clean. I want to go back but until I know it has been cleaned I don't think I can. read more

Okay, so the unsweet tea is strangely flavored. This alone might prevent me from coming back, ever basically. But, I'm going to try to be objective because I'm coming here having just eaten and I'm probably only going to have some dessert. These are the kinds of places traditionally I want to love. Overall though the logistics are getting in the way of enjoying the dining experience. Funky tea notwithstanding, the kitchen isn't properly ventilated. While I was eating someone ordered some sort of fish related dish and the whole restaurant smelled like fish for several minutes. On the other hand the cake was fairly good, if maybe slightly overpriced for the portion size. On balance I'm going to have to call this a 3 until I can come back to give it a more thorough test. read more

Excellent food and location in Fulshear, right off the main street through town. I've only been here for breakfast/brunch, but each time it's exceeded my expectations. They are enforcing social distancing, and not bringing coffee to the table for refills but it really wasn't that different than previous visits before COVID. The coffee really rocked my world, and I don't know why, but it is some of the best coffee I've had in ages. Definitely try it out if you need a little help in the mornings! Portion sizes are more than generous, and you'll be left full, sleepy, and ready to start your nap.. er, I mean day. Whatever you decide to do after leaving Essence House, you'll probably be thinking about the next time you'll be back and what you'll eat then. read more

A neat little cafe in downtown Fulshear. The cafe is very relaxing and nice. I Love the chalk art done by a local artist on the menu board. I hear the art is always changing. I posted a photo if the one on display when i visited. They offer a nice selection of sandwiches, soups, salads, coffees and desserts. I had the pork loin and on this sandwich came grilled onions, zucchini and mushrooms. Wonderful combination. If you are hungry in Flushear this is a great place for the cure. read more
