Had a quick stop here on our way to Austin for breakfast. We ordered the fried chicken sandwich with fries, two overhard eggs, and two pancakes with some fruits on the side. The food was good and we also really enjoyed our pecan coffee. Would recommend the place! read more

Very cute place with attentive and pleasant staff. All day breakfast! My companion had an omelette, which was delicious -- he said the best omelette he's ever had! I had the huevos rancheros, which were just OK; the beans were much too runny, and I was only given one tortilla. I would try something different the next time. If you are looking for good country Café food and ambience and this is it. They have daily plate specials and serve breakfast all day. But you've got to go before 2 o'clock because that's the latest they're open every day The hamburgers are excellent because the meat is fresh and so good. The onion rings are the best we've had don't miss trying those. We met family in Columbus for breakfast this weekend. No reservations required but recommended if you have a large party (20+). This place is super cute and inviting with very good service. The staff are friendly and kept the coffee and water refills coming . I regrettably forgot to take pics of the food, I was so hungry! But I will next time because there definitely would be one! We stopped on our way home from San Antonio for late breakfast. My husband had Country Breakfast: biscuits, gravy, sausage, hash Browns, bacon, & eggs. I had French Toast & hash browns. Everything was really good! The biscuits were fluffy and light! Delish! Around 10:45, they switch over to a lunch menu, so we stayed an extra minute or two to top off our breakfast with pie. Chocolate cream pie & key lime pie were available today. The chocolate filling was smooth & very good. Key lime was top notch, too. We'll definitely return and hope to be there during lunchtime. I wanted to like this spot. I had two personal recommendations and the Yelp reviews are great. My friend and I were disappointed. Mainly, it was the poor service that ruined it for me. Our waitress was impatient and surly. She acted like answering our questions was an imposition. Since we'd never been there, we needed to study the menu more, and seemed like she'd never come back to take our order. However, we were happily surprised when she brought a sample of the meatloaf we had asked about. Good deal on the specials, but my friend's fried chicken was overcooked and dry. I ordered hamburger steak off the menu, but I asked if I could substitute mashed potatoes for the French fries it comes with. She looked at me like my request was over the top and flatly said, "it comes with French fries." I carefully repeated, "Yes, but I'm asking if I could please substitute them with the mashed potatoes." She muttered something, but wrote it down. When done, we sat there waiting for her to clear the dishes and ask if we wanted to have dessert. Finally, I flagged her down. She took our order with a sigh, but still didn't move to take our dirty dishes. We had to ask. (We really did try to remain civil and didn't feel like we were being overly demanding.) Pie was good, but not rave worthy. (I'd recommend the chocolate over the coconut cream.) Then, in another unexpected move, the waitress smiled at my friend when my friend passed her. Maybe she was having a bad day, maybe it was because we were not one of the locals, but I'm not sure if I'd go back or not. I was disheartened as I had heard such good things. read more

This place is terrific! Staff is so friendly food is amazing. Had the special, grilled catfish with butter potatoes, baked beans, slaw and salad. Didn't eat the roll as I'm gluten free. The grilled catfish was awesome! Great seasonings and cane with grilled onions. Yummy with the butter potatoes. Loved the slaw. Large pieces of cabbage in a light slaw dressing. Was perfect! I'm not a fam of baked beans so didn't eat them either, but I t was still stuffed! Hubs had the pork chop breakfast plate. 2 pork chops with eggs and hashbrowns. I had the special of the day: chicken fried steak, mashed potatoes, sautéed cabbage and creamed corn (which I didn't eat because I don't like corn). It was all delicious! Decided to try a new place traveling from Bastrop back to Houston. Thoroughly enjoyed our breakfast. Cute little spot within Columbus. Very affordable, good country breakfast. Had eggs/bacon/grits/toast. Hubby had eggs and pork chop. You get the feeling that everyone knows everyone here. Love the chance to support locally owned businesses also. Waitress was amazing!! Passing through and happened on this spot! It was packed with locals. Apparently, it has changed hands to a new owner. Place was buzzing with excitement, which was an enjoyable feel that showed a nice home town feel. Looks family run, we ordered the lunch special which was a good move as there was not a seat available in the house. Things were running at full capacity and all hands were on deck.! The food was great, and the atmosphere to me was the gem, the owner and other family members were in full work mode in making this run well finely tuned on a Saturday on a commerative celebratory day. Dewberry Cafe is a great place to go on a Saturday morning in Columbus when you are looking to relax and enjoy the morning while eating great food. We ordered the Vaquero plate, which was delicious especially with their homemade pico and they have yummy homemade salsa you can ask for as well. We also had the classic pancakes with eggs and grits.
