Service at cashier was nice, but the bagels were stale. I asked for them toasted and they came out warm but hard, chewy and not crisped or toasted at all. I had a bagel with cream cheese and the cream cheese was minimal. In door dining was still closed as well, so we ate outside, but with two little kids it wasn't enjoyable in the heat and flies trying to get on our chewy bagels. Overall a bad experience. read more

While the bagels are good and they offer a large variety, the dining room is still closed. I parked in the rear and used the back door, but they wouldn't allow me to leave by the same door. They had locked it because it was "too windy to use." They had me walk In front of the cars coming through the drive thru to get back to my parked car. It was a bit dangerous and pretty inconvenient. Very unfriendly staff. I went through the drive thru and they gave me the wrong bagel and didn't notice till I got home. I normally wouldn't care but I'm vegetarian so I got the veggie bagel and the bagel I received had lots of bacon on it. I tried to call and they put me on hold and didn't do anything about it. I'm sad I can't give this review 5 stars.. but their twice baked hash browns were disappointing. I'd like to consider myself a hash brown connoisseur.. I expected so much more. I moved here from the north east, I live 30 min outside Springfield.. so getting a good Bagel means driving into town. I found this place on Yelp and make a point to go after my Doctors . So all I can say is Heaven... they have everything I am use to, bagel flavors and coffee... they don't have my maple walnut cream cheese but the Honey is just as good. Great place to eat. read more

Well, they are new and they are giving away free bagels w/ coupon from Sunday paper, and I was driving by, so I had to stop.... Seems like a good bagel. Has the garlic w/ salmon shmear as my freebie, cold not toasted. The spread was good, and so was the bagel, and the price (had I paid!) seemed reasonable. They certainly won't have any trouble getting me to come back and try more! Heck, when I moved here and went out for a bagel there were no places to go for one! I have always loved Einstein Bros Bagels. The first time I had it was in Downtown Indianapolis back in the mid to early 90's. There was never one close to where I lived so if I ever ran across one it was on. As soon as I moved to Springfield they opened one up. I now live 5 minutes away from it. Great bagels. If you can get one of the drive-through attendants to understand what you want without repeating it 17 times, then you must really be onto something. I'm not sure where they hire the people who work here, but it is not from any sort of Brain Trust, I can assure you of that. Once you get to the drive-thru window if they greet you with much more than a grunt and an order of food shoved at you begrudgingly, then you must be a saint. This is just in regards to your coffee. Everything else is GREAT. Your coffee either tastes burnt or like cigarette butts depending on the day. I try it every few weeks to see if someone has tasted it and decided to make it better, but alas, this hasn't happened. It has been awful for two years now. This location is terribly slow. Expect about a 20 min wait if there is more than one car ahead of you. Multiple times I asked for my bagel toasted and it hasnt been. But today it was heated up in the microwave... I've had to scrape off cream cheese b/c they add way too much sometimes. The worst experience was I asked for my regular bagel with shmear and I got home to find two of the bagels but no shmear at all. I should have checked the bag but still. I love their bagels though so I'll keep going but try to go to the south location. This is not a reflection on this location but just Einstein in general... the coffee is the worst I've ever had. My kids and I love grabbing a bagel here on mornings when we're running errands/doctor visits. I've never had a problem with long waits and the staff has always seemed nice. They are reasonably priced and a healthier (emphasis on the "er") choice than greasy hashbrowns or biscuits. My favorite is the gourmet apple cinnamon bagel with the honey almond smear. They also sell real fruit smoothies here which i have not tried but do intend on trying. The only thing that i do not care for is the amount of cream cheese put on the bagel. Sometimes I scrape off half of it and there's still too much which can lead to a stomach ache from all the sweetness. Also, pretty messy trying to scrape it off in the car. This place is awesome. Breakfast sandwiches are excellent, but a little pricy. That's said, that are betet than anything you could get from a fast food drive thru. Everything tastes fresh and way less grease than the typical biscuits etc offered by big name drive thru. I had the spinach mushroom and swiss w/ egg bagel and my wife had a bacon cheddar egg bagel. I came from the east coast. Southern NJ. It's Dunkin Donuts that is the hot spot there. But here, Einsteins made me feel like I was back east. They have the BEST Essssspresso ever!!! With two cars in the parking lot and one truck in line ahead of me, I pulled into the drive-thru here this morning. My first-ever visit to Einstein Bros! As a new mom and a working woman, I very rarely have the time to stop and treat myself to breakfast and tasty coffee. Hooray!! I waited four minutes at the speaker before being acknowledged. Once I was told I could place my order when ready, I asked for a "Santa Fe turkey sausage bagel and caramel macchiato hot please." ... ... No response. ... ... One minute... Two minutes... "Hello?" ... ... "I'm ready to place my order please" ... ... "Hello?" ... ... As I put my car in reverse and left the parking lot, disaapointed I had spent my precious little splurge and "me time" being ignored, I saw the truck in front of me that had been waiting at the window drive away empty handed and looking as frustrated as I felt. Was not greeted upon arrival, and when my wife started the order she was told to wait since they were too busy. When we decided to leave the male worker asked us to wait. My wife offered the suggestion that we should of been greeted and then told they were busy and to please wait. The worker replied in a very patronizing tone "thanks for being my manager". I would like to give them more stars because I do like their food, but the service is just awful. I went in today and tried ordering with my husband and sister. Our food wasn't right, they were having the hardest time taking our order and when my sister asked what kind of spreads they had the lady said "uh we have a lot." And that was it...also she was eating a candy bar while making our food and my sister tried repeating something she wanted because the girl wasn't saying anything back and she said "I already have that all down."
