Oh my goodness where to begin! I am a huge fan of Einstein Bagels, and have never had an issue. This location needs some help. First, the Order Here area is way in the back of the establishment and the Pay Here is at the front of the building. So ordering people are being mixed In with paying customers in line. They need to change the set up. People were getting frustrated and were so confused. The food was being served sloppy and with a "I don't care" attitude. So not acceptable. I know you are busy but still treat every customers order with respect. My order was not done correctly even though I explained 3 times what I wanted. Sesame Bagel toasted with cream cheese ON THE SIDE! Well I received cream cheese on my bagel and a side of cream cheese. Many of the staff seemed confused and I didn't see anyone who would be presenting themselves as the manager on duty. We love Einstein's, however our local store at 1919 S. Gilbert Rd, Mesa, AZ 85204, is absolutely disgusting and they don't care one bit about their customers' experiences. This location has been going downhill for the past 3-years. When I went this morning 7:15, as always the outside patio was disgusting. The garbage was overflowing so it obviously wasn't dumped at end of shift the day before, or that morning. The spills are caked on the tables, chairs, and ground, from lack of ever cleaning. One spill on top of another spill, on top of another spill. How hard is it to power wash the outside? wash a window? throw out the trash? pick up the litter? Or even just care a little bit? The front doors are in terrible condition and going so horribly it makes your skin crawl. There was a pink bathroom rug flung in front of the door and doubled over, so you tripped on it on the way in. Not one of the employees bothered to go out and move the tripping hazard even after they had been open for a while. When I called to complain and ask if they were going to do anything about how terrible the conditions have become there, the shift supervisor "Eric", hung the phone up on me. Apparently he doesn't have time or care about loyal customers who come every week. This place is an embarrassment to the Einstein and Panera brand, they should be ashamed of themselves. read more

I can see why this is the lowest rated Einstein's around. Came to get 1/2 dozen bagels in an (admittedly) busy Sunday. The person in front of my took their order and the cashier left. Just turned her back and started making sandwiches. After about 5 minutes of just standing there - with about 10 people in line behinds me - I asked 'are you not taking orders?', to which one of the employees said 'We're busy'. After a few more minutes, the cashier from the other side came and asked them why they weren't taking orders to get the same reply (more 'because we have all this $#*! to do'). Thankfully she took my order and I was able to get my 1/2 dozen bagels to go over 30 minutes after I stepped foot in the store. I won't be back to this location. read more

Love Einstein's but this particular location is lacking. The woman at the check out didn't know what she was doing and completely ignored myself and my son for 4 minutes. Then she helped the person in line behind me who just walked up because she had been making coffee that that customer had ordered. When I told the manager he stated "yeah we are working with her on that." I am a manager as well and if my employees can't grasp basic common sense then they are taken off of the frontline and shadowing people who know what they are doing. Several other employees acknowledged the issue but did nothing to fix it. Apologies with no action is just as bad. Props to the one employee who apologized and talked to my son about Doctor Who. Unfortunately a service industry location that is struggling with what they do every day, customer service, and has nothing better to say but "we're working on it" is not somewhere I want to do business. Above & beyond service! I stop here at least once a week for a bagel and if you order through the app, you can get a free coffee with any purchase! My order is right every time and the one and only time it was not, the team was very apologetic and even offered me a free cookie for later. That's what customer service is all about! read more

With the dining room closed you can see how DIRTY the place is. All this down time and they don't clean it. The baseboards around the service line are disgusting, the reach in cooler where you get the cream cheese has dust flying out of the grate on the bottom. I can only imagine how dirty the kitchen is. When I walked in, the guy at the register didn't seem to notice when I was ready to order my three bagels. I had my whiny ten year old in the car and my ravenous eighteen year old son waiting for their bagels. When the man didn't realize I was ready to order, I just began listing off what I needed. The orders were not complicated. The girl who gave me my order was very friendly, but as for the rest of the staff, they were very unhelpful and rude. One of them even had airpods in! What is this customer service? I also purchased orange juice to go, and there was no ice! They were barely cold. Worst experience this morning and greatest disappointment. I had been craving a fresh warm baked bagel for days, i finally drove about 7 miles to this location and purchased a half dozen bagels and cream cheese. The bagels where defrosting and two were still frozen. The onions fell off like flakes before I ended up toasting them so I finally get to the spread and that also frozen. This place disappoints. One time I came in and they stuffed my bagel and lox with so many capers that it inedible, I had to flick them all off. The last time I came in (and I do mean last) there were a group of teens working... well not actually working but standing around talking and playing tricks on each other. When they finished making my bagel they just let it sit there and didn't bother calling my name. I had to interrupt them and ask them if I could have my bagel. I'm always visiting this location and usually never have any issues. Today was a usual day placing my order online and driving to pick it up. Got back home only to that even though the tag on the outside of the bag was mine, what was in the bag and the tag inside the bag was not mine. So I called the store and spoke to the manager. He was very helpful. He said they had been having a lot of issues with people coming in, showing their door dash app and stealing food. But he assured me that what happened to my order was an honest mistake on their part! He pulled up my order and said to give him 5 minutes and he would have it ready. Told him it would take me that long to drive back over there. I asked him what to do with the order that I had! He said that it could be thrown out or I could just keep it! So I'm now keeping a tub of plain smear, yummy and 2 chocolate chip bagels, double yummy! When I got there to pick up my order I showed them the receipts and they were very nice about it. NO! Do you want a bagel? Do you really want one? Ok, since you insist, there is a trader joes, a fry's and a Walmart nearby. Pick one of those places and buy yourself some bagels. Just don't come here, they don't deserve you. The service will be horrible. They will take a long time to take your order, even longer to make your food, and you will stand there waiting for your food wondering how there can be 6 employees behind the line with no other orders ahead of you and it's been 15 minutes and you still have no food. Once you finally receive your food, you will leave ASAP because you can't stand the incompetence and also you want to eat in a place that does not look like a high school cafeteria after a food fight. Never go on a busy morning! We went on a Saturday at 9:30 am and they were out of a lot of bagels, all 4 coffee dispensers were empty and it took 15 minutes to get our food to go... after ordering! It was a cluster! They gave our food to someone else and it took 5 minutes for the lady to make an iced coffee.. from the menu, not customized. I generally don't eat many carbs so I don't normally go here anymore but It's my wife's favorite bagel place. I was driving nearby so I thought I would stop by and get her half a dozen bagels and a tub of cream cheese. I ordered what I thought she would Want and get to the cashier when I reached in my wallet it turns out I had put the wrong wallet in my pocket and I have absolutely no money. The girl at the cashier said she would return it for me and not worry about it so I headed back out to my car without any bagels. I sat down in the driver seat and the manager started knocking on my window and he had the bag of bagels with him. I told him I didn't have money that I thought I had so I couldn't take them he said, I know you're good for it go ahead and take them and pay me next time. That was not what I was expecting. So I was in the same area of the following they went back in and paid them and left them a tip. It's hard to imagine in today's atmosphere than anybody would trust you when they don't know you Mesa is not exactly a small town. Nice neighborhood location with an adequate seating area. The menu is the standard Einstein menu however I had a Thintastic egg sandwich and it was prepared very well (looked like the picture on the menu board). Restaurant was clean but he men's room could have used a good scrubbing. Good coffee is an Einstein plus. read more

Went in when it wasnt busy. Ordered one bagel sandwich. Just one. I saw them starting to make it. Im sitting there for about 20 minutes assuming they had to make eggs or bacon. That was fine until one of the workers asked if I ordered something. Im like huh? They are lookimg at the screen scratching their heads on who missed the order. Worst experience. The lady that finally took my order after standing in line forever had the worst attitude. If you hate your job so much don't work there! Finally after standing waiting to pay (other customers were more annoyed than I was at this point and were talking about just leaving and no one would even know) my entire meal was wrong. I told the lady who rolled her eyes and still had the nerve to charge me full price to continue sitting and waiting for them to redo the order they messed up on. I recently visited this store for prior to a work meeting, to pick up bagels and coffee box. They were very busy and making the coffee box got missed. I brought it to their attention, and upset because I was going to be late. Everybody was very apologetic and jumped right into gear to get it done quickly. They continued to apologize and made me a complimentary specialty coffee drink. Mistakes are made, especially when you're really busy. The important thing was how they responded with sincerity and a strong attempt to make it right. That is what good customer service is. I will continue to give them business. read more
