Einstein has the best tasting bagels IMO. If I'm driving 30 minutes just to buy their bagels, they have to be pretty darn good. Five stars for taste but downgraded for poor customer service and value. I'm a member of their Shmear Society (rewards program). Today's deal was 13 bagels and 2 tubs of cream cheese for $13.99. I get there and I'm told for this deal, I cannot request the bagels of my choosing. The bagels are preselected, combination of sweet and savory. Ok fine, though nowhere on the Shmear Society website did it say restrictions applied. I'm told If I want to select specific bagels, I can pay regular price at $15.99. Since we only like savory bagels, I decided to go for it. I asked for 8 garlic bagels to start. The manager said I can have only 6 garlic max, what the heck!! There were at least 10 or more in the basket. I can understand if she'd said she was filling an online order but no explanation was given. Frankly, I've never been to a bagel shop where a limit was placed on the type of bagel I can buy. The way I see it, if the customer is paying full price, no restrictions should apply, unless the policy was spelled out on the menu, which in this instance was not. Talk about poor customer service. Furthermore, the workers here are less than friendly every single time I've come. So maybe it's time to go to a different location in the future. read more
