Ok sooo I was starving and I wanted food comfort food. I was told to come here. It's Monday, got sat immediately but I chose to sit at the bar instead. Ordered chicken and biscuits, and Mexican skillet with side of sausage. A coffee and fresh squeezed orange juice! I got my food within minutes. Amazing and fresh. I scarfed it all down quickly so you know it was good. I added jalapeños to my skillet so it was delicious. It was a cool vibe, 90s pop playing and not too busy on a Monday.
Lunch on Saturday- surprised to be seated with no wait! I loved the experience here. It is close to the river and the bean so it was a perfect spot to start our day and continue on sightseeing thereafter. The menu was expensive and it featured both brunch/ breakfast and lunch items. I ordered a pesto panini with fries, which comes with a small cup of soup. Good value. I got stuffed. The service was attentive and efficient. For some reason my phone did not have good reception there so having a free WiFi there helped a lot!
This joint is tucked tight below the skyscrapers and next to Mariano's Market. And it's a great place for breakfast. Big mugs for coffee and tea already set on the table. Big menu with some Mexican influenced items. Easy menu to read with highlighted specialties. Al pastor skillet served quickly. Nice skillet, reasonable portion. Potatoes can tend to either get dense and chewy or wet and soppy. Not here. Just fluffy yet firm potatoes in this skillet dish. Pancake on the side. I'm holding the fifth star due to syrup. Eggy's gives top notch food and service, but the syrup is industrial pancake syrup. A true maple syrup, or at least something a little more delicate would have put the exclamation point on my breakfast. Terrific place for a breakfast.

Visiting area for business trip. Great breakfast. Enjoyed the picante skillet. Plenty of food and just right spice level. Had to wait about 10 minutes for table Saturday morning at about 10 am. Parking a challenge in this popular area. Quick service, clean, and reasonable prices for area. Would definitely go again if in area.
We had breakfast here on Thursday morning during our trip and the place was almost empty! Homey and warm place with gorgeous views outside. Staff here were friendly, quick and efficient with their service. White mocha latte - Yum! Perfect balance of sweet and bitter without one overpowering. The drink was super creamy and tasty. Avocado toast - Too much arugula in this but the overall taste was really delicious. We appreciated how they served fruit as a side. Biscuit and gravy with scrambled eggs - Scrambled eggs were bland. Biscuit was more like having a donut - fluffy and soft to eat. It was a satisfying dish to have overall for breakfast.
We found Eggy's while looking for breakfast places within walking distance to our hotel. The place is very nice and it wasn't too busy on a rainy Sunday morning. Our party of 2 was seated right away and our waitress brought over some water and took our drink orders. I went with the fried chicken and biscuits while my dining partner went with the American skillet. The food came out pretty quickly and it was all solid. I tried the breakfast potatoes first and they were seasoned perfectly and cooked well. They had some bite to them but they weren't hard. They were seasoned pretty simply but they tasted great. The fried chicken was fried very well; the outside was almost crispy while the interior stayed juicy. I love sausage gravy and Eggy's is solid; delicious when slathered over the fried chicken and biscuits. The overeasy eggs on top added even more to the textures and flavors. The biscuits were the lowlight of the meal but they were still decent. One of them was a little overdone so it was super dry while the other was softer. A little inconsistent but they were both tasty. I enjoyed their coffee and my girlfriend seemed to enjoy her matcha latte and American skillet. All-in-all, a solid breakfast spot.
Went here for a weekday brunch and it was pretty crowded. Service was quick. Menu was huge with large diner menu of pancakes, skillets and many more I got the skillet and soup. I am glad that i found something vegetarian in the menu even though it was egg based. Its a bit more on the pricey side for a diner. Ambiance was bright and service was decent
good brunch food but not worth the wait to get seated or the wait to get food. on a sunday morning, the wait was obnoxiously long and once we ordered, it also took awhile to receive our food. we ordered a smoothie in addition to our order and the staff forgot about it for so long that we just cancelled the order. in terms of food, it's solid but not anything particularly special. the chicken tortilla soup was delectable and the chorizo eggs benedict was a nice combo. but the panini was pretty normal. the interior has diner vibes, it's very casual.
We went twice while we were visiting Chicago. The food was good- flavorful and warm. The service was timely and the servers were attentive and nice. It's a bit busy in there and you may end up sitting very close to other people, but I appreciated them trying to reduce wait times.
What a great find. Popped in here for lunch and enjoyed it very much. The grilled chicken sandwich had a great spicy sauce. BLT sandwich was good, but should be made with iceberg lettuce, not field greens. My Tortilla soup was great. Excellent French fries. Broad menu of breakfast and typical diner food. Isaac was a great server.
Sunday brunch!!! The restaurant itself was a little difficult to find but once we found it, we hit a jackpot. The restaurant is a cute, trendy spot with fun signs around. All the savory dishes (skillet, black bean burger, veggie panini) were incredible! The fries are shoestring cut, crispy, and very yummy. The chicken and waffles dish was huge. Could be shared if you have a smaller appetite. (It's a whole half of a chicken.) The crepes were just alright. They weren't thin enough and there wasn't enough nutella on it for my liking. The service was very quick and responsive. I will definitely be visiting again!

Eggy's On a cloudy Sunday early afternoon, it was so busy that me and my wonderful peers waited 45-minutes to be seated. They will take your name and text you when your table is ready. In the meantime, you can walk around the park, sit in the park, or even play candy crush next to a tree. The place is in a cute, quiet residential area. Interior was very modern and reminded me of a cute bakery. Space could be tight, so make sure to respect those sitting near you. Service was fast and efficient! As for food, I ordered the Eggy's Benedict (Mini Belgian waffles topped with maple glazed pulled pork, 2 poached eggs, and house-made hollandaise sauce), it was savory BUT had a hint of sweetness. The breakfast potatoes were great and fried! Overall, I would recommend this place and eat here again!! read more
Food: the omelette are very special, especially doesn't have the fishy smells. The flavor of Chicken & waffle is good, but the fried chicken was too dry. Service: the staff might be too tired, so wasn't listen to us very carefully when we trying to order something, and directly ordered the one he recommended... and end up brought the wrong dish, and tell us they don't have what we ordered. Good thing is they took back the wrong order and didn't charge on the menu. We are not sure if it was because they are "too busy?", we tried to talk to three stuffs who passing by, no one willing to response, including our server, finally all of us raise our voice and someone came to help us check. End up my friend not really like their service.... Ambiance: I like the vibe they trying to show to the customers. But there's an important thing, the menu has no pics, when we are willing to yelp, there's no reception at all... finally Mariano's WiFi saved us. read more

On our first morning in Chicago we were starving and had a long day ahead of us. We were able to walk to Eggys from our hotel and based on the great reviews we thought it was a good place to start. A little hard to find (mostly due to the maps not understanding the sidewalk trails in this part of town, no fault of the restaurant) but worth it. Once inside it's a cute place and fairly quick service (quick but not so much so you feel rushed) and amazing food. Even the coffee was good! We knew we were on the right path when we walked in, you could tell from the great smells. We both had different Benedict's and both were so good. Perfectly poached eggs and great sauce. Potatoes that were the ideal amount of crunchy, soft and salty. Perfect. And great portions, not so much you feel like you're paying for something you cannot possibly eat but definitely not small either! read more

An updated review of Eggy's is much needed after my most recent review. Since my last review, years ago, Eggy's is still going strong and seemed to have improved their food. Like always, Eggy's was jam packed but they have mastered the art of turning over tables and getting the crowds moving. My group was able to get a table rather quickly even with the restaurant being being. I don't believe you make a reservation so I would plan to wait a little bit but not the wait you would experience at one of the the places off Michigan or in the popular tourist places. Eggy's located next to the Mariano's right off of Randolph Ave. It is tucked away so you have to go to the lower level to reach the entrance. The food has greatly improved since I used to visit consistently before Covid. I ordered the Eggy's Burger which was massive and I automatically got two meals from the meal. It is a double patty with corned beef and an egg on top of it with a ton of fries but you have the option to swap out the fries. The burger was delicious and definitely my new go to order. I look forward to my next visit so I can try the strawberry mimosa. I will note that everyone at my table experienced cellphone signal issues so it was great to see that they offered complimentary wifi for guests. read more

Good place for a big breakfast or lunch. Portions here are huge and the menu is pretty large so it's easy to find something you'll enjoy. We came there around lunch time on a weekday and the restaurant was almost empty. We got our food really fast and it was good. I'd say prices are a bit high for Chicago but they give you a looot of food for that money. You definitely can share one plate between two people and both won't be hungry. read more

My friends and I (party of 4) stopped in for Brunch during St.Pattys Day weekend. Despite th crowd our waiter went above and beyond to make our dining experience at Eggys unforgettable. The prices and portion sizes are perfect. THE FOOD was even better!! I will be returning! read more
It's not worth it, neither time nor money. On the second day of the Chicago Marathon, Medal Monday, we started our gourmet trip for hunting good foods. The hotel we stayed in is in the center of Chicago, CBD, with many celebrity restaurants. We didn't have breakfast at the hotel and were heading to Eggy's Egg directly. So many people hang the marathon medal walking on the street. We also took half hour by walking to Eggy's. It is an uphill walk, bypassing the famous Minghin Chinese Cuisine, we took the elevator down to another side of the road, where Eggy's locates. It's about 7-8 people waiting outside the restaurant, no one can exactly tell us to either walk in to register or just wait outside. People came and went, someone walked into the restaurant and walked back out of it. When two persons were out, two persons in the queue walked in. There is a middle room as the entrance. The door is so heavy and I had to help small women to pull the door when I was first in the queue. About 30 minutes waiting, outside, middle room, and in the restaurant. I took my watch and found 6 waiters/waitresses and one usher took care of about 20 tables. Most of the time, there were three to four tables with customers left and no one clean the tables. What a waste, dirty tables, waiting clients, looks busy waiters/waitresses, can't hide its bad management. I still can't believe how 7 people can deal with the service so badly. Eventually, we got our seats and the waiter got our coffee in a pot and two empty mugs. The coffee was good and hot, a little sour but not too strong, which I love. I had Crab Cake Benny, it's obviously the supermarket ring crab cake, you usually can get 6 pcs for 5 dollars. The hollandaise was so plain and boring. Coco had Fried Chicken & Biscuits, just so so, at least it wasn't worth $18.95. I tried her fried chicken, the breast, dry without any juice, the fried egg was the one my daughter can make when she was five years old. The fried potato was good, in wedge shape, crispy and soft. But that is the only good taste besides coffee in the restaurant, nothing else worth writing and remembering. The wifi was horrible nor was the phone signal, nothing could finish the online payment. This is the best breakfast place I've visited in in the city. The food is amazing and the service is very quick, efficient and friendly. The owner is often there meeting customers and checking quality. It's small but can seat many people and they have gifts available. Can be quiet if not full but is loud when the dining area is full of customers. You can't beat the food. read more

Came here for brunch on a weekday. The inside ambience was nice and bright. Loved the vibes. Since we came on a weekday it wasn't too busy, if anything, the service was just a little bit slow. We ordered the New York French Toast, Eggy's Combo, and Gyro Omelet. I Food was overall pretty good. The servings were huge! I got the french toast and I really enjoyed the blueberry compote. The banana cream inside the french toast was pretty good too, just a bit too much cream towards the center of the french toast. We also ordered orange juice and some coffee, which was overall decent! My friend didn't really like the orange juice. read more

I would not eat here again nor recommend this place to anyone. The customer service is horrible aside from the young lady who took my order. The management is unprofessional and I guess they thought I didn't speak Spanish. The only thing good was the spicy Mayo, Pickle & Brioche Bun. The chips were flavorless didn't even have salt & Pepper as well as the dry burger patties. The soup was also bland with very little substance just red water. I asked for a pickle on the side which became a big deal inconvenience to them. I checked the menu on their direct website and price listed as $12.50 but rang up as $19.50. The server informed the manager & he said I was lying. This was my first time in the restaurant & I literally had the menu pulled up as I walked in. Then another manager/sat down at laptop checked. I'm not a big breakfast person, but Eggy's is tasty! And the avocado toast was out of this world-- they really elevate it with their green goddess dressing! It took us awhile to get a table. In fact, they gave our table away right in front of us so in total, we waited about 1.5hours for our table. But the hostess did a wonderful job at getting us accommodated. She was running the entire show by herself so kudos to her to handling the breakfast/brunch rush with Grace! read more

This diner was very delicious! It had a very board menu from breakfast items to lunch faire! The crepes looked beautiful and the omelets looked ample. I went with the sandwich this time! The restaurant was small, there is not much seating. The tables are very close to each other so if youre a sma party, you might be eating next to another small party, like "in the same table" type of vibe. The service was good, the waiter was nice and he made sure everything was okay a couple of times. The food was.... a hit or miss. We were a party of ten, which resulted in varied opinions on the food. I ordered the tuna sald sandwich and it was pretty good, i enjoyed it. The fries were the best fries i had tried in a while. Everyone was a fan of the fries. My friend that ate the chocolate chip waffles was in loveeeee, and the skillet was amazing too. The food that didnt hit the right way was the breakfast combo, the iced coffee, and, unfortunately, the chicken and waffles. The chicken was very veiny, which made it hard to enjoy. The waffle was yummy, but there was only one. The price of this place is on the higher end, with the most expensive plate being $20 (chicken and waffles) and the cheapest plate being $15.50 (tuna salad sandwich). Overall, it is a hit or miss. Absolutely take the time to wait for this nugget of joy. They are super friendly, fast, and delicious. Price point is reasonable for Chicago and the area. Nothing we had disappointed. The crepes are more eggy than usual, so take note of that if you have a difference preference. I had the Greek skillet- delicious. They offer water at the table- we're used to ice water. We asked and they brought us cups of ice. No problem. read more
This place is located and a plaza no very visible so if you are parking around the place, it might be a little bit challenging to get inside of the diner, since it's very small and on the first. I ordered for myself the meat lovers crêpes, which it was good, it had a sweet kick on the top of the crepe mix with the meat was great. We also had biscuits and gravy it was not my favorite. It was a bit cold and just basic, when we ordered coffee it was also a bit under the temperature meh... the menu looks very promising the ambience of the place it was very urban. Stopped in for a bite to eat last week with my daughter and her friend. Service and seating was quick and friendly. The food was excellent. I ordered the breakfast tacos and ate all three. I don't know how, but I did. They were huge. The poutine that my daughter got was a huge serving, so of course I had to help her with it. The cheese curds were cooked perfectly. Would definitely come back here again, if only to try their famous milkshakes. read more
Eggys is a little cute dinner. It closes early afternoon. Strictly a breakfasand lunch place serving your favorite brunch alcoholic bevvies like Mimosas. I do love the variety of crepes, pancakes, waffles, and french toasts that they have. They also have different soups daily including yummy sandwiches to pair it with like a Turkey Rueben. Service was super quick. My tip is to sit in the bar since the person who makes your drinks is also the only serving you. It is a wonderful place to visit and chill. It's near by places for sightseeing, in the Heart of Chicago. The food is wonderful with homelike ambiance. Highly recommend! read more

This place did not disappoint and the reviews were right on! We walked from magnificent mile which was a bit far. We all ordered different things and the menu offered many "down home" choices with a twist. They made ordering and paying very easy but also gave you the option to be contactless or with standard wait service. We really enjoyed our visit here. The food was delicious. The service was great and they offered excellent recommendations that we chose. I would recommend this spot for a brunch or breakfast choice. As we left, you could see that many people were waiting in line and thought highly of this place. read more

Prior to arriving in Chicago for a day of sightseeing, I looked for a restaurant that served breakfast in the downtown area close to some attractions we planned to walk to and Eggy's fit the bill. It's a decent size restaurant with indoor seating. One of my girlfriends bought a ticket with Southwest Airlines during one of their flash sales so I used my miles and paid $11.40 in taxes to join her for the day. We arrived at approximately 8:30am and our party of two were seated immediately. We were provided with menus and shortly after two glasses of water were put on the table. There were a few tables available but by the time our food was brought to our table, the restaurant didn't have any empty seats. I ordered a cup of hot green tea because the weather in Chicago on Saturday, October 23rd was 54 degrees (burrrr). For my meal I ordered the Apple cinnamon French toast and a side of bacon which was delicious. The bacon was lukewarm and I wish it was hotter but I still enjoyed my meal nonetheless. They have two gender neutral bathrooms which were nice and clean. They provided two options to settle your bill: 1) a QR code on your receipt which opens a window to pay via your phone or 2) you can pay at the front where you checked in. read more

Can anyone clarify the seating policy for the bar? It has always been walk up and first come first serve, but we were just kicked out as walk-ups for a reservation by the hostess? Is this the new policy?
We ate at the bar last time, but were seated by the hostess there. We were a family of 4.

Potatoes in general are gluten free. I don't see anything that's added that would result in them not being gluten free.
