I like my off the beaten path dive breakfast places when I'm on the road and this one definitely lived up to that. Well it's not as divy as some places but it's not fresh looking or fancy so somewhere in the middle, it's definitely been there for a while. It's not very big and has booths along the walls with tables crammed in the center of the room. The place is very popular because the whole time I was there people came in and waited for tables and the phone never stopped with the take out orders and people were always walking in for take out. While I was there the crowd was police officers, a local pastor, family with a small child and everything in between so it has mass appeal. The menu had all the regulars and I was going to get the ham steak and eggs until I saw the country plate which is eggs, hash browns, sausage patties, and a biscuit covered in sausage gravy. When the plate hit the table I thought that I made a mistake because it was not the best looking country plate that I have been served. The eggs were good and cooked perfect with three of them. The hash browns were soft on the inside and crisped on the outside and seasoned, I like it. The sausage patties were good and flavorful, not the crappy bland kind, thank you. The biscuit was fresh and nicely browned with a nice buttery flavor that I liked as well. The sausage gravy was a little skimpy and very average at best but the tasty sausage and biscuit made up for that. My first impression of the country breakfast was completely wrong and it was actually pretty tasty and I finished the whole plate which I rarely do because I liked it and it was under $10. Overall my breakfast was solid and better than the average place and I can see why it's so busy while I was there. I would definitely go back here again with no problem but maybe at 6-7 am because at 8 am it's non stop balls to the wall.

I ordered a jalapeno steak omelette.

I read reviews about this restaurant, so I thought I'd give it a try. I called ahead to inquire of wait time for a party of 2. Since it is father's day, i wasn't sure if the lines would be out the door. A lady answered the phone, told me there is no wait time. When I pulled up to the restaurant, I didn't realized how many times I have passed this eatery. It is literally around the corner from i-57 highway. Parking was full for a Sunday morning around 9:45am. No worries, we parked in the neighborhood on the street. We were seated right away. Our server was nice. In regards to the menu, it is your typical breakfast items. I would recommend if you like to have your hashbrowns with your meal, be sure to order a meal that already has has browns that come with it. If you order the hashbrowns as a side item then, it will cost $3.19 For a Sunday morning crowd, it was quiet in terms of the diners lol As for meals, I ordered steak omelette (it came with hashbrowns and choice of bread) I opted for pancakes. The hubby ordered, cornered and hash skillet. He ordered pancakes. I did read the previous reviews and they are right, our food came out quickly! Our food was tasty. I have had better pancakes. As I was just about finish eating my meal, I was scooping the last morsel of my hashbrowns when I noticed a blue coloring substance in the hashbrowns! As I pulled it apart, I realized it is plastic and was cooked with my hashbrowns (see attached photo) I told our waitress, and she spoke to the manager on duty. They gave me $3.00 off our bill. Will I be back? It's a no for me... #lookatyourfood #beforeustarteating

Eggshack baby, that's where it's at!! I stopped in again after my last visit a few years ago and this place has skipped a beat! I love the option of having breakfast for lunch. I went with Denver Omelet along with Hash Browns and some toast. The service was great and the atmosphere is relaxed. They also have video poker machines upstairs if you wanna gamble a little. They also have a nice cozy bar and additional booths to sit in as well! If you live near here or pass by this place, stop in! Nice staff, fair prices and good food. Win - win!!

You can tell that they have good food based on the volume of customers. The service is nice and the food is quick and delicious. Ham off the bone and all. If you go on a Sunday be patient cause it seems like the whole city does. The pancakes are amazing man like seriously they hold up to syrup so well. I've also had the strip steak and it was cooked just the way I requested. Definitely a place I frequent.

I usually come here for coffee and donuts, but recently I tried a few other things on their menu. We brunch and ordered plenty, but the food missed the mark for me. The food gives heavy dinner food, made with not a drop of seasoning. I didn't feel the need to take images of the lack of flavor food. Although the food was disappointing, I'll return for the service and homemade donuts. Plus the location has a cool mom and pops vibe.

Beverly Bakery & Cafe was a lot better than we expected at first. Kind of in a not so impressive area to be honest. The atmosphere inside it though has a cozy feeling and the food was impressive with pretty big portions. Basically we were going to a few bars early when we saw this and thought to get something to eat first. It's in a kind of unassuming area with sketchy looking auto shops. The inside is a lot better though. Actually pretty impressed with it. Menu has lots of choices for any preference. Certainly one of the few great places for breakfast around here. It's about $13 for an entree which comes with a lot. Filling. I chose a hearty one, the Vegan Skillet. This has green peppers, mushrooms, onions, potatoes, tomatoes, and zucchini. A lot packed into it. She got the French Toast. Made with soy milk. This comes topped with bananas or blueberries, good stuff. For sure we could go here again. It's closed Mondays. There's plenty to get for vegans and vegetarians.

Today I decided to switch it up and order through Uber Eats, and I'm happy to say the experience was just as great. The food still arrived fresh, hot, and full of flavor--just like when I dine in or pick up. Consistency is everything, and Lumes continues to deliver every time. Definitely one of my go-to spots for a solid, satisfying breakfast!

There will be more than enough food to not only satisfy both of you, but there will even be leftovers to take home in a doggy bag. I stopped in and ordered the Grits Bowl, which came with eggs and pancakes. The grits bowl did not hit the spot for me. While I ordinarily love cheese, I also love everything in the right place, time, and amount. Having the entire top of a large-diameter bowl covered in a layer of cheese was excessive. Going a little deeper, there were a handful of shrimp, though they were overcooked to the point of being rubbery. As for the grits, by themselves, they were bland and wholly unremarkable. Together with the cheese, veggies, and spices up top, the spoonful becomes better, though on their own, neither texture nor flavor delivered. When it comes to eggs, I requested these as over medium, though they were delivered as over-easy. I didn't want to be *that* guy sending these back over something so trivial. I was very surprised that there were four of them... many places stick to two, three at the most. Finally, we come to the pancakes. These were the highlight of the meal. In the very short stack of two, the first one had the right flavors, but the texture of an extremely lightly crisp exterior with a pillowy interior wasn't there. The second pancake, however, absolutely nailed it across the board. When it comes to the prices, what Lume's lacks in quality, they make up for in sheer volume. While large portions don't quite work on me, I do appreciate that one can at least get their money's worth. Final verdict: Given my preferences, the only thing Lume's has that would pull me back are their pancakes. If I lived closer to Beverley, I would be open to retuning to get a pancake-based dish. However, outside of this, the experience was not one that demands a return visit.

We came in and waited to be greeted by the hostess. Maybe 10 minutes passed and 2-3 other groups also came in before we saw the hostess and she had the sourest attitude I've seen that wasn't a snotty teenager arguing with their mom. The tables were so close together and booths tight that multiple groups had to adjust chairs or add chairs to a booth to be able to fit their group of 4 comfortably. Tables were left dirty & covered with dishes - two tables we're left uncleared for the entire 2+ hours we were there until the hostess with the horrific attitude cleared one glass at a time with a truly horrible look on her face. At one point when the hostess was walking back to the front from the kitchen, a young child (maybe 3-4) was politely walking to her table and the hostess said something to the effect of "get out of my way" - to a toddler, behaving perfectly reasonably and the hostess wasn't even carrying anything that might topple over. Our waitress was not much better than the hostess. While she was mostly pleasant, after 45 minutes we had to flag her down to ask where our appetizer was and she apologized before bringing it out 10 minutes or so later. It wasn't so busy that the kitchen was behind - I think she just forgot to put the order in or the kitchen forgot to fire it. We had placed our dinner order at the same time, and that came out shortly after the appetizer for 3 of the 4 of us. The 4th member of the party had to wait 10 minutes or so for her chicken wrap to come out. Flagging down our waitress for the check was also a challenge. She would disappear for long stretches of time. Service was truly appalling and we were there for over 2.5 hours for what we had expected would be a quick and delicious dinner. I won't go back.
