We were egg-cited to visit a new place. No yolk, it's yummy. The food stand is right beside Above Ground. You can get breakfast all Day - omelettes, bowls, fried rice and lots of other choices. It is worth a visit.

I came to Egg Yaki initially as part of a Yelp promotional opportunity. Beforehand, I checked out their social media presence & menu, same as always. The chef, Nick, is feature prominently in Egg Yaki's promotional material, which, to me, is a great sign. i love to put a face to the talented chef making the food im eating! having said that, and given the busy, transient world we live in, you wouldn't think you'd actually be served by the chef, but that's exactly how it is ! Chef Nick is extremely kind and passionate about his community. my dish was delish and promptly served. thank you to Egg Yaki for partnering with Yelp, I only wish triumph & prosperity upon Chef Nick and his culinary ventures

Shrimp omelette

I didn't know what to expect. Being unfamiliar with the area because I've been out of the loop for a minute (but I'm back!) it wasn't easy for me to find it. I found it right as I walked in... the 3rd time. I walked past it the first time because I thought it was part of a different spot. I overlooked it the second time and then I just asked someone and they pointed me right there. When I got there Nick was chatting it up with a customer finishing up some background info on his journey but I didn't want to be nosy because that was their moment. When it was my turn, we had a similar conversation that was a bit more personalized to my travels and his start here. He was telling me how this spot was smaller and I already though the was doing amazing things with such a small space. Small space, Big Taste. I've never had anything like it. I literally didn't know what to expect. He asked me if I wanted it as a sandwich or omelette and although I like sandwiches, I love omelettes. It didn't look that big but it was definitely filling. If I had planned on sampling Union Market that day, I would've been upset because I would've had no space left. I'll be back on a day I'm more hungry so I can try more or maybe I'll bring someone so they can share and we can sample more things. There was also this orange coffee drink that was so good. I never thought to mix the two but it was good.

ROCK ON Omelet (rock shrimp omelette)
Rohan N.

Was really impressed by the food at Egg Yaki! Went as part of a special event and ordered the rock on omelette, which is an omelette with rock shrimp and a few other ingredients. The shrimp themselves were perfectly cooked and the egg had a fluffy consistency and texture, which was quite filling while also not too rich. The toppings, which included green onions, fried onions, and Unagi sauce, were all notable and really brought the dish together. I would definitely come back to try other versions of the omelette. We also ordered the Pork Katsu Sando, and thoroughly enjoyed this item. The sauces really brought the sandwich together, and the pork was very well cooked. It was lean without being tough and breaded excellently. The chef who took our order was very helpful and made the food fresh to order very quickly. While the prices are not particularly cheap, that's to be expected with a Union Market food stall, and the quality of the dishes seemed quite high given other comparable restaurants.

Located in Union Market, Egg Yaki is quickly becoming one of my go-to breakfast spots. The space is casual and inviting, perfect for grabbing a quick bite or lingering over a relaxed morning. The menu is focused on breakfast sandwiches, omelets, rice dishes and the portions are generous. I tried the pork belly sando, which was incredible. The pork was rich and flavorful, paired with a well-balanced sauce, and everything tasted incredibly fresh. My sandwich was still steaming when I got it. Egg Yaki delivers on both quality and portion size, making it a standout in the market. I'm already looking forward to coming back to try their omelets.

Burnt egg taste on the bottom was overwhelming. There's no seasoning in the egg mixture so the sauce is essential. The sauce pairings are good but you need more than a drizzle. The staff members was pleasant.

I love a nice egg sandwich so love that this place exists and the guy who works here also has a great personality! This was the first time I had scallions in my eggs and honestly wasn't a fan AT ALLL LOL. But! The sandwich and quality was good however it just wasn't for me with that part. So I'll go back to get it without that and we would be good to go! Love the bun it comes with as well.

How did I not know about this hidden gem in the union market. Finally found this place as I was looking for a high protein meal after my workout. I tried their shrimp sandwich. The brioche was loaded with shrimp, nice sauce and cabbage. Everything blend in so perfectly to make a great sandwich. They also have many omelets. It's a self serve kinda place in the union market. Chef is very passionate about the food he makes. The ambiance at the union market is great especially in the spring. Highly recommend getting one of their stuff and sitting outside to enjoy the meal on a nice breezy evening.

EGG YAKI SANDO

Needed something to eat and never tried this spot before. This sandwich was simple, yet executed well. Scrambled egg with scallion, spicy mayo, and a soft brioche bun. I got a side of curry mayo which I made as pleasantly surprised by. I give my experience a 7.5/10. Wasn't bad at all.

These omelets are out of this world delicious! They're huge and totally shareable. The atmosphere is a fun food haul vibe and I recommend trying one of everything!

Egg Fried Rice with Soy Sauce Butter

Once you've had good fried rice you'll know it...I'm talking about good fried rice, not that crap from the mall kiosk or Panda Express....I have my favorites but none of them resided in DC until now...I've been on a serious hunt for decent fried rice...I never thought I'd find it in union market but look no further...Chef Nicolas has a ton of flair and the culinary skills to back it up. I looked at the menu and everything looks amazing...union market has really stepped their game up....im coming back for that fried pork chop sandwich that's the size of my head but I gotta earn it. Food is easily worth a 30 plus minute drive...even better if you bring a friend. Ambiance is market vibes....plenty of tourist with a small sprinkle of locals...food was freshly prepared and enough for two meals...best fried rice I've had in while...can't wait to see if Egg Yaki and go 2 for 2

Uncle Pig Egg Sando

Nom nom nom! Maybe the best egg sandwich I've ever had. Uncle Pig is top tier. Egg was soft, pork was juicy + flavorful and, Nic was super chill. Sando size is very filling. Food was done in under 3-5. Plus he gave us a cute little duck trinket! Overall, I'd obviously go back anddd you should too! Can't wait til I'm back in DC!

Heart & Seoul Omelette: House Made Kimchi, Yuzu Mayo, Chrispy Shallots
Jon T.

A hidden gem for those who want to try something interesting in Union Market. Egg Yaki is a spot that makes omelettes; they are gigantic, massive, and will leave you wanting more. They are open from Thur-Sun. If you do want to catch them, make sure it's before 3 PM otherwise they are not available for the rest of the day I got the Heart & Seoul Omelette which was made with Eggs, House Made Kimchi, Yuzu Mayo, topped with scallions and crispy shallots. It comes out extremely hot and I'd say get napkins because the bottom on the plastic tray it comes out on gets hot too. It was simply amazing. I liked how the Yuzu Mayo compliments the Kimchi and the Eggs. I didn't get rice but if you were to pair this up with the rice it'd definitely be a meal that'll keep you full for a while. Check this place out!

What a special place in Washington, DC we have here…read more It is said a lot of members of congress dine here and I can understand why. Everything is delicious here!!! I started here for my birthday with some escargots, fantastic. Pro-Tip: Don't forget you can dip that terrific breadbasket they give you with some of the leftover garlic sauce from your escargots. We both decided to split the Beef Bourguignon. The most tender beef you can imagine, you do not need a knife to eat, and it was accompanied with buttery goodness in the creamy potatoes and some carrots for good measure. For dessert we ordered the vanilla bean crème brûlée. French dessert at a French restaurant was a no brainer. The top of the dessert packed a crispy, sugary, slightly burnt tasting palate cleanser that definitely will keep you a pick me up, who needs an ECT shock to get the heart going when you can take a scoop of pure sugary bliss! This is a must go to if you are in the DC area, but be sure to make reservations it fills up quickly. As always people SYOY!!!

The cocktails were spot on, especially the Fro-sze! We had a good selection of small plates and absolutely devoured the bread basket! Everything was delicious and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Only minor nit to pick was some of the wait staff were a little pretentious, but hey when in Paris....!

While the dinner crowd was large, the service was quick and friendly. I ordered the Steak Frites, which was cooked to perfection and tasty. Nowadays, I typically only eat half of my entree and take the remaining portion home, but the food here was good. I ate the whole thing. If you're staying at the Royal Sonesta, the restaurant provides the room service. Unlike its sibling location in SW, this Bistro Du Jour does not participate in the InKind app.

The cheese puffs and artichokes were mediocre, and the macarons were fine but nothing memorable. The tarte flambée was slightly below average. It tasted mostly like cheese and fat, with none of the depth or balance I expected. The biggest disappointment was the steak au poivre. We ordered it medium rare, which our server specifically said was also the chef's recommendation, but it arrived somewhere between medium and medium well. More surprisingly, it was one of the toughest steaks I have ever eaten. At $49, that is unacceptable. The mashed potatoes were equally disappointing: bland, not buttery, and nothing like the rich French pommes purée I expected. We also ordered the carrots, but they never arrived. At least we were not charged for them. The crème brûlée was good, but a good crème brûlée could not redeem the meal. The service was attentive and polished. The restaurant was also nearly empty at 5 p.m. on a Friday, with only one other table occupied inside and a few people outside, which in hindsight may have been a warning sign. Beautiful room, decent service, deeply disappointing food. I would not return.

Great food, incredible service, and such a cute intimate brunch spot!…read more I went to Tiffany's Bar and Bistro in DC for Sunday brunch with my family, and we had such a good experience. This is a cute American-Mediterranean spot with an intimate atmosphere, beautiful decor, and not too many tables, which made it perfect for a relaxed family brunch. It wasn't overly loud or crowded, and the service was incredible from start to finish. I would definitely recommend making a reservation. I started with an espresso martini, and this was a 10/10 honestly, a thousand out of 10 . It was strong, delicious, and one of my favorite espresso martinis I've had recently. For an appetizer, we got the Sampler of All, which lets you try several of their spreads. We tried the chickpea tahini, Hripiti with roasted red pepper, Greek feta and fresh thyme, Greek yogurt with Persian cucumber and dill, and beet labneh with walnuts. My favorite was definitely the Hripiti the roasted red pepper and feta combination was so good! The sampler was definitely different from what I expected, but I liked being able to try several of the spreads. For my entrée, I had the short ribs and eggs, which I believe was an off-menu option. It was DELICIOUS. I actually took some home, and it reheated really well the next morning for breakfast, which is always a win! My family also ordered the shrimp and grits, Wagyu burger, pistachio French toast, and Ciftlik Breakfast with scramble and rose & cardamom biscuits. Everything we tried was really good, and there was a nice variety of sweet and savory options for everyone. Another thing I loved was that brunch was pretty reasonably priced for DC. We spent less than $50 per person, including drinks, which I thought was a great value considering the quality of the food, cocktails, service, and overall experience. The service was probably one of my favorite parts of the experience. Our server was very attentive and paid attention to the little details without being overbearing. You could tell they genuinely cared about making sure we were enjoying ourselves. And the decor is so cute! They have a little swing that we took pictures on, which was a fun touch and definitely added to the experience. Overall, Tiffany's was exactly the type of brunch spot I enjoy good food, strong cocktails, beautiful surroundings, great service, and an intimate atmosphere where you can actually sit, talk, and enjoy your meal. I'll definitely be back to try their dinner and happy hour. Definitely recommend checking out Tiffany's if you're looking for an American-Mediterranean spot in DC!

The food, however, was unfortunately very mediocre. We came for brunch on a Sunday around 11 and the place seemed dead. Both my French toast & bacon were overcooked to almost burnt and didn't taste very good as a result; the French toast was also served without syrup, and when I asked for some, it caused some sort of commotion in the kitchen that we could hear. It sounded like the regular chef wasn't in yet or something & whoever was cooking kept telling the server there was no syrup until the server got fed up & got it himself. Just bizarre. I'm rounding up to 3 stars because I loved our server, a mature gentleman who was funny & did an excellent job, but the food missed the mark.
